  • Torrential Rains Flood Dubai: What Led to This Heavy Rainfall? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Heavy thunderstorms have lashed the United Arab Emirates, dumping the heaviest rain ever recorded in the country in the span of hours as it flooded out portions of major highways and Dubai’s international airport. Torrential rain flooded roads, homes and malls and briefly halted operations at Dubai's airport as storms lashed the Gulf, leaving at least 18 dead in Oman. The state-run WAM news agency called the rain “a historic weather event” that surpassed “anything documented since the start of data collection in 1949.” So, what led to this torrential rainfall? Was it climate change or something else? Palki Sharma tells you.

It's cloud seeding. Don't try to divert. They did the seeding on Monday night and cloud had been developing the whole night until it rained on Tuesday. Poor knowledge led to chaos in the sky and land.

Not the result of climate change. It may be the result of El Nino. El Nino has already emerged and will continue (April-june). After El Nino, La Nina will emerge (June-August).
Effect of El Nino: Sudden flood due to heavy rain or wildfires in some regions of the world.
Effect of La Nina: Sudden snowfalls, blizzards due to heavy temperature fall in some regions of the world.
Both El Nino and La Nina are natural phenomenons and appear every 2-7 years.
