They entrusted this young man and his parents with the safety, wellbeing, and care of their daughter, and they failed miserably at all of that and then concealed what they knew and prevented the police from doing their jobs and Gabby's family from getting any kind of justice or punishment for the loss of their young adult daughter. This was so weird. Idk how they hid him from law enforcement and the public, or what they were thinking when they left the kid at the wildlife area & trails. It's all craziness ! As much as I love all my young adult offspring, if one of them did something like this, I would not let them escape justice ! He got away with it all and his parents aided and abetted him and should be held accountable, crimally, as well as civilly.

@amartinez7053 It was amonth later though that he killed her, sadly enough, couples with their dynamics can break up & get back together 100 times, the guy is usually good at getting her to think it's her fault they have arguments, that he loses control of his childish self & that's a reason they target young more naive youngsters, it's easier to pull the crap they pull on someone who has self doubts, who questions themselves, someone who forgives too easily....
I myself, in my marriage over 27+ years, there were many tmes I left & many times I made him leave our house for months, but thee were also two times he nearly choked me to death, stopped by police and security guards thankfully. He'd go insane every few years, but if he had succeeded in killing me, it would not have been ANYONE else's FAULT but his. HIS.
In this case, they did separate the 2 by taking her to jail that night (which was the wrong call, they should've taken Brian, the first 911 caller reported him slapping her & 911 obviously failed to convey that to the officers, these kind of incompete communications cuse deaths every day it needs to change in America. But also Gabby refused to tell the absolute truth about how he'd slapped her around inthat parking lot, in front of witnesses ( that told me all I needed to know because what they do behind closed doors is alwys much worse!!)
Ofcourse umpteenish miles from home, they got back with eachother and continued the trip. She should have asked them to get her home safely, but Gabby STILL did not see or could not admit to herself the danger she was in.
Bottom line is; you can't save someone if they on't let you, won't give you the info needed to save you. HE , Brian, had the ability to NOT kill her. He is at fault forever.

The small part that Gabby's decision to stay with him plays a small part in this. A death occured. That death was concealed by deserting her body to the elements and running away like the sally he is. To discover that his parents were so intent in keeping the blood off their hands by smoothing the way for him to stay on the run tells a lot about them. At the end of the day, though, there's this thing called Karma. It has no time limits, it has everyone's address, and it will show up. The killer has met his Karma and good riddance. The police ignored two separate independent witnesses who called them to report him hitting her. They ignored her injuries after she told them he put his hand around her mouth and scratched her face. They ignored the fact that HE drove into a kerb in front of them. They ignored her account that she was trying to stop him from stealing her van and all her stuff in it and leaving her in the middle of nowhere. IMO, the police gave Brian the confidence and justification to continue his violence and coercive control over Gabby.
The Laundries knew he was a murderer IMO. Just because (they claim) they didn't communicate the word 'murder' doesn't mean they didn't understand what 'gone' meant. Bertilino said he knew he wasn't being retained for a personal injury case and told the Laudries to consider she'd been murdered. The murder was confirmed when Brian returned in Gabby's van. Where else would she be?
The Laundries and the MOAB police should pay for their misjudgements, lies, victim-blaming and the blindness and negligence that resulted in her death.

@@EverFox-cw2hoCombined Statement and Investigative Report - Petito-Laundrie Incident
      Moab Utah Police Website
City of Moab Utah Statement On Investigative Review of Aug. 12 Petito-Laundrie Incident
"After a formal complaint was filed with the Moab City Police Department, an independent law enforcement agency has completed a thorough review of the August 12, 2021 domestic violence incident involving Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie. The independent agency’s investigative report finds that the officers who responded to the incident made several unintentional mistakes that stemmed from the fact that officers failed to cite Ms. Petito for domestic violence. The City acknowledges that this finding may raise questions, and the issue is examined extensively in the investigative report. The report recommends improvements to both the policies and the training of the Moab City Police Department. These recommendations include: providing additional training in domestic violence investigation, as well as additional legal training to ensure officers understand state laws and statutes; conducting an overall policy review; conducting a software review; and strengthening the review process for incident reports. The investigative report also finds that a statement was never obtained from the original 911 caller, and recommends that be done to make the incident report more complete. The City intends to implement the report’s recommendations. Based on the report’s findings, the City of Moab believes our officers showed kindness, respect and empathy in their handling of this incident. As the Moab City Police Department continues its daily mission to serve our community, efforts are underway to provide additional resources and tools to assist them in addressing domestic violence incidents. Plans are in place to add a trained domestic violence specialist to oversee incidents investigated by Moab officers. We also will implement added and ongoing training and testing to ensure that the officers understand policies and procedures. The City of Moab sends our sincere condolences to the Petito family. Our hearts go out to them as they continue to deal with the tragic loss of their daughter."

I don’t see how anyone on a jury would get past him telling them ‘she’s gone’ and wanting a criminal lawyer. Why would you need a criminal attorney if a crime was not committed? Then showing up without her. If it was a physical fight and she was alive I’d say she would be taking her own van and he can figure out a way home. Any jury trial I think would’ve been very bad for the Laundries. Bertilino’s statement of reunification was a foot in mouth situation that should’ve never been worded that way. It can almost come across as taunting with a we know something you don’t but happy hunting for her.

18:38 good on the fella for bringing the audience back down to earth there. So often armchair detectives’ sensational but baseless analysis/accusations are encouraged despite those encouraging knowing that what they’re saying is based in a complete ignorance of how things actually work in reality. Too many cases are decided in the court of public opinion based on “they didn’t cry enough!” Or “they cried too much they’re obviously overcompensating with fake crying!” And speculation such as “they made a deal with the FBI in a bush”, and this kind of stuff gets picked up and run with by a mob of armchair jurors/detectives who treat investigations/trials and the lives on the line and the lives already lost as characters in a soap opera. It’s all fan theories but they actually have real world impact. These people aren’t characters, the stakes are incredibly high and real suffering is caused by the modern day ambulance chasers that is the true crime fandom/cult. I watch true crime content myself, but am always disturbed by the cultish and soap opera like vibes from the “community”. Like people will become a mob thirsting for blood over someone’s “gut instinct that this person is a bad egg”.
It needs to be called out and brought back down to earth.

The saddest point to me is the fact that Gabby didn't feel she could tell anybody about what was going on... In my opinion, if she tells someone, it could be a failure on her part or it opens up a can of worms to criticism, or it could cause the police to get involved, which could possibly start a mess, or threats from Brian about what he might do if she talks. Then there are the "good moments" that she was clinging to where she thought this might be a good thing one day. I say this after going through three very abusive relationships myself. You want to say something so bad, but this person.
Is the most wonderful person the next day. In this cycle just keeps going and going.
There should be a way for us to tell someone without repercussions. All the many recordings... That no one ever heard.
The one time I did call the police. They called the police too, at the same time...and the police believed him because he's the master manipulator and it just became a wash rather than them knowing what really happened to me. 😢
