I found Cas telling Dean he loved him wasn't romantic. He was telling Dean he LOVES HIS SOUL. Absolute Uncompromising & Unconditional Love! That's why he was so happy & why the Empty took him. (Because of Covid we didn't get to SEE his return. But we know through Bobby that he's there....somewhere. Possibly in the body of a hot blonde this time)! Covid really screwed us out of a lot in the end of SPN.

I got curious and searched and Misha (Cas) himself said it was romantic.
"During DLCon, Misha Collins (and some other members of the cast of Supernatural) talk about Castiel's confession of love to Dean in the latest episode, and he confirms it was not brotherly, but it was intended as an "homosexual declaration of love" and is surprised people still think it's brotherly, since they tried to make very clear it was not"

@@koolchaos7well, I find this disappointing, as completely out of left field, in terms of characterisation. It is easy to piece together why Cas would love Dean, in a brotherly way, from his behaviour in the show. It is a huge leap for this to make sense as a homosexual desire. Cas is like a brother to the boys, and he treats them with more kindness and curtesy as the series progresses - going from a “robot” in earlier episodes, to almost human towards the end.

    • @koolchaos7

@@Wolf359inc oh I actually agree that I never saw him treat Dean as anything other than a brother too, heck it's been a while but I remember they were fighting more than getting along the last several seasons that made a romance, let alone a full blown love confession definitely out of left field!

A lot of these aren't "Did right by the fans" but just examples of bad decisions.
Like did any fans ask for Daryl to become Gary Stu? No. Liking a character and their screentime and maybe wanting more doesn't mean go to the opposite extreme of massively overexposing the character. And it often ends up being a common mistake.

@@javk8673Yeah no. Fan hit is correct. It has a very strong cult following!! It IS a hit! It won a Primetime Emmy and was nominated four times. It also won a Critics Choice Award for best comedy series. So yes, it is considered a hit! Also, it was on the verge of cancellation once. Fun fact, so was Friends and Seinfeld. It scored very well on Rotten Tomatoes every season except season 4, which was their most critical season. However, they brought it back up in season 5, and 6! It was most certainly a HIT! No show gets 6 seasons is it isn’t a hit show. Also, tv shows at the level of Friends and Seinfeld, don’t happen that often. Those shows are considered Mega Hits! They hard to replicate, but every now and then there’s one that makes it out of the gate, and absolutely owns the ratings!

Him getting it in the TV show just annoyed me, I just knew they were gonna do that because the TV writers are kinda weak compared to the writing in some of the comics, some of the comics absolutely sucks too, but nowhere near as much of the series sucks.
