Although it is not what I want to listen you are right. I didn't know Aspinall's ground game was so elite, and you can see in the Adesanya fight that even the nigerian was able to take alex down with the kickboxing threat, so Aspinal would probably do the same, and then finish him there with his jj skills. The only counter argument I have is that if Alex goes up he won't need to vacate his belt. He can go up, try his luck, and if he loses he can still defend his title at lhw. But if he wins he made history as the first triple champion of the ufc.
Appreciate it and well said. The only bummer is if he fights and beats Tom it would be the interim hw title even tho we know tom is a worthy undisputed hw champ.
@@MMA_CHUCK indeed. Weird days for the heavyweight division huh? I think whoever holds the title after the jones vs stipe fight will become the linear champion. And if you stop to think it’s not a good idea for the ufc having Alex as the heavyweight champion if he beats Tom. Does he vacate the lhw belt? Does he hold up two divisions? It doesn’t seem like he would do lots of defenses in the hw. Sorry for the long response, thanks for the video!

This video makes all sense. But I've heard similar reviews about other fighters and Alex Pereira beat every other champions before in two different weight categories. I could imagine Alex beating Aspinall by knockout too
I should preface the video by saying, personally I want to see Alex vs Tom. That would be an amazing fight. But I think Alex is clearly more successful at LHW than HW.
I dont think its the right move to stay at LW, everytime fighters start aging they perform worse and Alex is already at that age, going to HW is a way to stay at your peak for longer time, no one wanna see Alex losing to some random on LW because he cant stand cardio or have the same speed anymore, he's going to be 37 this year, thats too much for a LW dominating champion.
I think it will be boring if he stays at LHW forever, no one comes close to matching him there.
