    For those wondering, this was re-uploaded with a new ending. Within 24 hrs of posting the original, I discovered a new MUCH easier/better way to go about getting into the temple early. You no longer need to worry about accidentally triggering the cutscene and it's now co-op friendly. The video is the same at first, but changes over to the new run at 19:14. If you're just curious about the new jump itself, head to 27:20. ENJOY!

  • @jenlt1801
    @jenlt1801 Před rokem +8

    some tips i have for this level:
    the first jump to the gondola, where you have to do a really delayed crouch jump, is much much easier to do from the balcony just to the left of it where one of the jackle snipers can come out of. if you jump on the little wall and crouch jump towards it, it is not as big of a jump. i personally have never failed it but have never been able to do the one shown in the video.
    before doing the grenade/rocket jump to the left of the temple after the cutscene before the bossfight, it is much more worth it to kill the second elite. break the two turrets in front of the gondola to get your shield up and then head towards the entrance of the temple. the second elite will come running out and you can bait him into getting stuck into his plasma rifle recharge animation and can go assassinate him when it is recharging. it does not trigger the bossfight (but do NOT go through the arches/door ways that lead into the temple normally. go back and do the rest as it shows in the video.) and then use the two smaller turrets in front of the temple to get your shield back again. i usually get a checkpoint after killing him which is good so you don't have to completely restart from the cutscene, and then once you have set up the boss room and walk out of the room and back in, it will give you another checkpoint. big timesaver.
    when setting up the room for the boss fight, immediately hit the big purple and blue boxes to the lower level and then never go near that big door again until you need to start the fight. do the purple and blue boxes LAST. put all of the pedestals into place first by moving them up the ramps that the purple boxes would be blocking, and THEN block the ramps off with the big crates. being anywhere near the door can spawn the enemies. you can need one of the purple crates and go to get one in front of the big entrance door and it very much can spawn the enemies before you are set up.
    again, when setting up the regret boss fight room, crouching when hitting the objects will make them move further a lot of the time on flat floors. hitting the bottom of the object makes it move less and more gentle, and hitting the top, corners or sides will make it move more aggressivly and faster.

    I have always followed Silvers guides to the letter, over various accounts over many years. Even this guide, with a slight change at the end. After many, many deaths on the Regret fight, the setting up was burning me out. 10 minutes is nothing, but when you're doing it 30 times that's 5 hours! After I set everything up, instead of tiptoeing through the door then back in to spawn the enemies, I brought a sniper instead of a BR. Snipe the remaining elite (or other enemies on the entrance hallway) and run back out towards the gondola. You'll get a checkpoint, and then pick up checkpoints during the fight. You can pick up your BR and an energy pistol outside then lure the honor guards out instead of dealing with them inside. After 7 hours of setting up and dying, I did the fight in about 15 minutes after picking up a checkpoint after setup.
    Thank you Silver for these miraculous guides, the road to 700/700 is made easier with your help.
    Good luck!

    Just to update, my buddy and I coop'd this last night. We didn't rocket jump in the temple to prepare for the Regret fight and had to do it legit.
    We didn't realize of the Grenade+Board glitch to damage Regret faster, and it took I believe roughly 18 boardings to kill him with just melees. We'd get 3-4, go outside for checkpoint, repeat. It. Was. Obnoxious.

    After setting up final boss room, go back through the entrance to the gondola. Be careful of elite and possible jackal; I used rocket launcher on jackal and managed to run by elite. Sit on gondola for a minute, grab a plasma pistol and BR and go back inside. There will be 2 plasma elites spawn at boss room entrance where you just ran out of. Try to lure them to the doors and melee, just be patient. Just a bit further on the big ramp into the boss room you can sit on the little ledge on side of ramp and the sword elites won't rush you so you can noob combo. Seems risky but I was not about to risk having to do the rocket jump and set up the barricades all over again if I messed up in boss fight, which I did. It ended up giving me a checkpoint mid boss fight and another checkpoint after I had already hit regret a few times. If you run out of BR ammo or need shield just start punching the grunts. I also remapped my buttons from L2 grenade to RB grenade, it was a lot easier to hit the grenade/board combo with X and RB on one hand than coordinating both hands.

    • @yincimaster8530
      @yincimaster8530 Před měsícem +1

      In my case, I tried and was instantly blasted by the 2 plasma elites. I instead just went back in. Because of your safe space, you'll be fine. At one point, Regret will say "Incompetence, I will kill him myself" upon which you'll also get a checkpoint. I don't know if you need to kill x amount of grunts to achieve this or just wait but at least it was a massive time saver for me with less stress. I was pretty low on shield because the 2 plasma elites happened to follow me inside for the first bit of the fight.

    Massive thanks for the guide, just did it and worked perfectly. For those that are struggling with the setup for the final fight here is something I found:
    You can actually kill the second elite before doing the rocketjump. All you have to do is go a little bit closer to the temple entrance where he sniped the first elite. The second one will come running out and you can easily backsmack him still without spawning the final room. Them just do the rocketjump and proceed with the setup. This will then allow you to go back outside once you have completed the setup and you will get a checkpoint and can then continue from there.

    When you stick a grenade to Regret, it helped me (on keyboard and mouse) to hit the grenade key a split second after beginning to hold the action key to board him. Since my keys are Q and E respectively, I just sort of rolled my fingers from right to left. That helped me get much more consistent sticks through the shield. Not sure what happened with my Regret fight, it seems like his shield glitched out for me, even when I board him I can still take damage from enemy fire, and my own grenades (managed to stick myself in the head while I was punching him at least 5 times). Luckily managed to get checkpoints throughout the boss fight and eventually smacked him down, boarding him WITHOUT using grenades. I think I boarded and meleed him at least 12 times before he finally dropped.
    I also had his throne spaz out from I assume the sputnik skull, while punching him his throne would keep tipping over until he was completely upside down and would just lie down on the floor, then a SECOND Regret would spawn nearby and the first would despawn 30 seconds later.
    Amazing guide, so happy to be done with this laso mission!

    pro tip that after setting up the regret fight, you can get a checkpoint if you clear the hallway and move back to the gondola and sit there for a bit. you can get rid of the elite before you do the rocket grenade jump by waiting just around the corner on the right side he will charge you can you get back smack him this will allow you to run threw with minimal damage to get the check point but be warned 2 plasma elites will spawn in the hallway if you do this method and you will have to take them out to get back in safely

    IMPORTANT: You DO NOT have to cross those big doors to trigger the load zone for enemies to spawn in. In my run, I was still in the room and was standing on the left side of it trying to fix the barricade on the ramp and it loaded everyone in. Stay away from the left side (facing the doors).

I just finished the level, and wanted to share that during the setup for the fight with Regret, if I got too close to the back door an Honor Guard Elite and grunt would randomly spawn in and kill me. It added a lot of time resetting up the room, so be careful of staying back there for too long.

    @epmasters Před 3 lety +2

    Just finished this level and just want to start off by saying, thank you. This has helped tremendously and I wished I would have followed the guide up until the end where the rocket/grenade jump occurred. I went too far and spawned the enemies in and had to do things the old fashioned way.
    However, should anyone find yourself in that position. Take with you a BR and Energy Pistol. In between rounds with Regret you'll want to retreat into the previous section where the ramp leads up into the final room and take out the elites individually. The grunts seem to stay in the final area and do not follow and both the elites with the sword and plasma pistol take only one overshield charge to take out. This helped quite a bit.
    Oh yeah, and definitely do the grenade portion as well when you board him. Somehow I was able to board him I think 10 times without using grenades and that was seriously bugging me. Plenty of grenades to go around and having the grunts running around made it easy to acquire shield.
    Again, I wish I would have watched this more carefully and did the rocket/grenade jump earlier. Alas it is done....off to Sacred Icon!.

    I did LASO on this mission before this update and let me tell you guys this mission was a contender for hardest LASO mission of all time, 6 hours for that final boss fight. the trick he uses with the rockets, it used to only be done by sword flying, it was known you could block all the doors in the boss fight if you could snipe a camo sword elite to reveal itself and then sword fly to its position before activating the cutscene, this would bypass the cutscene and allow you to blockade the boss fight room, then come back out and activate the cutscene in order to progress the mission, now you just have to use rockets lol.

    Just completed the solo playlist a couple days ago. Hurts to be seeing this brilliant video now (a few days late). Regret was BY FAR the hardest level for me. And I thought Cairo was bad! (I didn't use the Johnson trick). Gravemind wouldn't be bad if it weren't for the bottom of the prison lift being broken. Had to restart the level 4 times before it let me live to the bottom. Regret probably took as much in game time as all the other 14 levels combined. Wish I had known about the gondola head glitch and this final room early entry. Woulda saved me about 6 hours of save and quit and actually been easier than Cairo Station. Had to make a barricade trick of my own. Put barricades on the two smaller ramps at the bottom of the main door ramp. Keep killing them at the main door until it's just sword elites. Bait them to come halfway down and then nade them so with Sputnik they land at the bottom and are stuck not even in the main temple. Then enter and just keep killing grunts while smacking Regret about 75 times.

    Until I played the end of this mission again, i had no idea that Grunts can VAULT themselves over those columns that we are using as barricade. Like a little gymnast, I even put two columns in most places. You CANNOT stop them, lol. But they wont do it every time and honestly, you're gonna want them for shield anyway.
    I found the best thing to do was just hang out in the 2 doors on either side of Regret's Altar. Run from one door onto the altar and m sorta run in diagnal lines and run circles around him....do that BEFORE attacking him. He might be a clone and if so just run to the other side door and hide. Your big purple boxes should be near those doors and it keeps grunts from attacking you when you hide. Don't KILL the honor sword guards if they are trapped in the middle level. They are useless if they get stuck there. If you dont kill them, you wont deal with dual plasma rifle honor guards. The problem is, they can still shoot at you when they are stuck in those spawn doors. If you can avoid killing ANY swords honor guards, thats better. Keep a sword in hand at all times. When you are near a grunt, sword slash 1x then change weapons and Melee him. Most of the time that will kill him quick for easy shield.
    Attack regret 2 or 3 times and you will prolly get a checkpoint, if not there is a guaranteed way to get at least one checkpoint..... Just run all the way out of the temple you'll have some elites to backsmack so do not smash any turrets yet. Walk to one of the doors on either side of the main entrance, peak around untill they are shooting at you. Get them to start overheating their guns but keep hiding by the door. They will probably run up to you one at a time 🤪.

If you grab a plasma pistol and go around the area trying to pick up other plasma pistols while you have one equipped, it will swap your weapon if the one on the ground has more ammo. Great guide!

    11:05, a warning to other players. When the sword elite spawns in, sometimes the jackal sniper from the previous room will be in the doorway you came from, so try to stay put and take out the sword elite then peek around to see if the sniper is waiting for you to cross his sights.

    After just _barely_ squeaking by on getting the par time in Legendary for the Monopolized achievement, I was not looking forward to this level. This guide made it a lot more tolerable than I was expecting. For anyone wondering, if you kill all the enemies before you do the grenade+rocket jump at the end there, there's a chance you'll get a checkpoint when you go through the main door to start the fight after you've set up all your barriers. Made it a lot easier for me. Also, if you don't want to risk running around to kill grunts and get more plasma grenades, you can use frags for when you board regret and they work too, though probably not quite as well.

    Pro tip at 27:22: Sometimes the extra elite will shoot at you through the door as you walk towards the spot for the grenade jump on the left. To prevent this, you can move one of the crates on the ramp to the bottom of the wall on the left. If you move it to the left corner of the wall next to the barrier on the edge of the structure, you can jump on the crate and do a crouch jump. Therefore you can avoid having to pass by the elite and losing shield. I took only like 2 or 3 hits from him, but it was still enough to cause me to die when I went to do the jump.

  • @Lucifronz
    @Lucifronz Před 4 lety +1

    While doing this in co-op LASO, we found it a bit too hard to get over to the gondola by grenade jumping. I always sucked at it and my partner had trouble with input lag and carbine elite/snipers. We usually cleared them but after many failed attempts he left the last two snipers to me. Eventually I said "fuck it, we're doing it normally" and we made our way around. Killed the snipers, hopped up onto the ledge (from the broken pillars, since I already knew about it) and sniped the jackals that spawned in before the gondola.
    The hunters weren't hard, before them, we mostly just used plasmas and blasted 'em. They died eventually.
    The enemies on the gondola were a pain, t was mostly the two elites on the gondola itself, but using twin plasma pistols and my battle rifle, I managed to noob combo one from that ledge. The grunts below inside the building that dropped them had enough energy to use. My partner took out the other elite somehow with a beam rifle. Luck and skill combined, I guess. Once they were all dead, Cortana says something like how kind they were for bringing us the gondola. That's your sign to move in (if you couldn't manage the jump in co-op).
    Since you didn't despawn the enemies, just do what he does in the second gondola and tuck your head into the corner while crouching. I forgot to crouch, so either that or the buggers touching me got their attention and I died a couple times before we just killed some of them and went back to it.
    From there, we focused on sniping the jackals with our beam rifles and proceeded normally. I couldn't get through that one room with the hunters that come in because I was getting sniped trying to go to the right like in the video. My partner suggested going left if they spawned there and I left it to him while trying to distract enemies and luring them on the starting side. Took him a bit, but he got it. I followed on the left, since you need both players to use the elevator, and didn't seem to get attacked. Enemies were either super distracted or outright despawned. He had to fight off a fair few, sadly, and I didn't want to proceed and mess it up for him until he said he was ready. I was hoping I'd get teleported to save us another death, but it's fine, the room was no threat after he moved through and the rest was clear.
    The part where you go up the elevator again and exit outside gave us trouble, just like my partner thought, and we had to carefully eliminate the enemies as best we could. I tossed my abundance of plasmas to kill buggers and try to hit elites, only the former really worked though. I recommend it if you stocked up back in the underwater tunnels. They were NOT distracted by the pelican. Or at least one wasn't. Eventually he turned, but not well enough to get in close very easily. He lingered on the cliff to the right. We eventually got lucky with rng and were able to climb up and bash his skull in and we got the rest. Climbed the tree, moved two boxes to the gondola, etc. etc.
    The setup for Regret, once we were finally lucky enough to kill everyone and get a checkpoint by the door (not sure if killing them all is what gave the checkpoint, but if you can... try it), he rocket and grenade jumped up and spent ALMOST AN HOUR setting up. That was riveting. But worth it. We got another checkpoint as he triggered the spawn and yet another while in the room after I killed the last sword elite. I distracted Regret, killed Grunts on the bottom, and allowed my partner to focus on him.
    It wasn't too bad. Worse for my partner since I tried and failed to do the grenade thing (I blew up; must have stuck myself instead...), but it was way easier than we expected.
    With a bit of luck, hopefully you guys will get it, too. Wish Halo 2 saved videos like 3 and onwards. I wanted to save that video...

    BOSS FIGHT CHECKPOINT TIP AND CO-OP HELP:
    At the end, right before the rocket jump after killing all the enemies, if you want a checkpoint, you can cross that dirt/concrete barrier by like a foot or two (in classic) to go into Regret's palace thing and then go back outside. You'll get a checkpoint or two and can keep trying the rocket jump with ease. Make sure you have full shield before the checkpoint so you don't lock yourself out of the jump.
    ALSO, after you've built the entire inside arena and fortified it, your co-op partner can stay outside and do that same checkpoint zone explained above to give you another blessing of a checkpoint after 20-30 min of setting up the boss area. This will also spawn in all the enemies so make sure the fortifying is done first. Then while fighting the boss, do it slowly and surely, don't make any drastic mistake or accidentally blow up the barriers out of the way or waste too much ammo for the grunts as you'll then get plenty of checkpoints during the fight and can't go back, like 10 of them!

      @@MickeyBassman Sorry, the dirt/metal barrier at the entrance of the boss fight building!
      This checkpoint strat I found is extremely helpful because you can attempt the rocket jump as many times as you want very quickly without going through that long beginning fight over and over that is frustrating. And you can also get a checkpoint to save all the work you do when fortifying the inside by touching that same barrier with your co-op player. It takes very very long to fortify and the smallest error could kill you or start the boss fight prematurely, so its very important you save at the right moment as this is the hardest mission yet!

      I was having the same issue, even on CE. I ended up finding a workaround that seems to work on PC. If you do the save/quit method and find that you are at the opening cutscene of the mission, quickly hold tab and press alt. Once the program menu opens, spam the "X" button the the upper left of the program for MCC. Once the game force closes, immediately press stop and/or play on mcc in steam to prevent the cloud syncing. Exit out of any steam pop ups that say syncing cloud and keeping pressing play on MCC until it launches. When you go back, you should be where you left off. It works for me every time. I hope this helps someone.
      Simplified version: If you are forced to restart the mission, force close the game. Keep spamming the play button until you launch the game. Resume where you left off.

    Doing this co-op with a friend. We get to Regret, I do the rocket+nade jump in, we're disappointed with no teleport. We had a second rocket launcher so they could've done it too, but since our checkpoint involved killing some enemies first, we didn't want to keep retrying until we both made the jump. I was in, so I just started meleeing everything into place while they waited outside. Quite a while later it's all setup, and we're coordinating to trigger Regret to spawn while being super careful cause we know we don't have a checkpoint yet. I walk out the door when one elite is on cooldown, but I don't think I walked far enough. Both start shooting, so I'm just waiting to maybe try and synch their cooldowns or for them to be distracted by my friend. Then out of nowhere the spawn triggers and I get sworded in the back from an honor guard, and we're all the way back to before the jump in.
    I really don't want to do all of that again, so we figure, there's two of us, how bad could just going in be? We know we can get at least one checkpoint early in, what if we partially block the elite doors? Then it's potentially just grunts and Regret, and we can also of course sneak the grenades in instead of just punching him. We each had swords to quickly knock the braziers around, while they had a carbine and I had a BR. We spent maybe 15 minutes dying from the initial checkpoint until we finally got another where the first two elite doors were blocked, and we were in a good spot. We died a bunch more trying to block the last two, and eventually we did it. We then both just killed grunts as we saw them, and I focused on chasing down Regret and getting the five plasma nades in. Overall maybe 30 minutes on the whole fight from the first checkpoint.
    Not as smooth as if we had got the full setup to work, but our partial implementation definitely made it so much easier. I can't imagine trying to do that fight without having seen this guide. All of your LASO guides have been a huge help so far, and we plan to keep using them for the rest of the games as they come out for the MCC on Steam!

    "thinking emoji"... I saw the first upload, and I gotta say... apart from the difficulty of the rocket jump from the gondola, I realize that placing all the crates and barricades BEFORE the cutscene it's better cause then you hit the cutscene, and you have a checkpoint, with all the crates already placed. With this new method, I don't think you get a CP after entering the building, so It's more risky, as if you get killed in the battle with Regret, you will need to place all crates again, and that is so time consuming.

    • @HaloCompletionist
      @HaloCompletionist  Před 4 lety +2

      True, but you this way you dont accidentally trigger the cutscene forcing you to either restart or deal with regret the old fashioned way. Also you avoid saving/quiting/resuming endlessly trying to get the jump exactly right. This jump is extremely easy. You actually get a lot of checkpoints during the Regret battle using these strats since there's rarely ever any enemies nearby. The reason you rarely get them normally is because you're usually swarmed and the area is not safe enough. And it's now coop friendly.

    • @dmadam3023
      @dmadam3023 Před 4 lety

      You can actually get a checkpoint with everything in order for the boss fight:
      1) clear all the enemies before the rocket jump. The elite that retreats charges if you linger around the entrance. (I used 1 of the 4 turret before fighting the last elite)
      2) After the rocket jump and decoration placement you want to go trough the door down the ramp (i even went back outside). As soon as the checkpoint clicks bolt back inside as fast as humanly possible (Elites will spawn at the bottom of the ramp). Use the rockets on the sword elites and finish them off with the Br.
      If after a few tries you realize the checkpoint you got is a dead end and you cannot reach the boss room go ahead and dashboard > manage game > clear local save. If you are willing to try this method you should let at least a few hours pass os that your previous save gets backed up on the cloud. GG

    Having only 1 grunt up top actually worked really well for me. After Regret teleports, I'd go find a grunt in the lower section with me and melee him for shields. Repeat until I get close to Regret and have a nice amount of overshield in case an honor guard elite shoots me in the back or if a barricade happened to get dislodged (which happened twice but only let 1 elite through). Replacing the barricades was pretty easy if there wasn't a grunt nearby. Most annoying part of the boss fight was probably having to redo the outside part because I suck at the rocket-nade jump.
