Level - Outskirts
Difficulty - Legendary
Skulls - Skulls will automatically be selected when you select the Halo 2 LASO playlist. They are as follows: Anger, Assassin, Black Eye, Blind, Catch, Famine, Ghost, Grunt Birthday Party, Iron, IWHBYD, Mythic, Sputnik, That's Just...Wrong, and Thunderstorm.

It's pretty funny looking at the number of views of his Halo 2 LASO guides. You can see how many people gave up on Cairo Station. You can also see all the frustrated people looking up or rewatching Gravemind.
It took me about 6hrs to do Cairo Station. Doing this level so far is a nice change of pace since it's just calm walking for the moment.
It’s so cute how you explain that first crouch jump in the beginning in such depth as if this isn’t LASO. If you can’t do a simple crouch jump idk if LASO is for you

Movement in halo games is janky asf. I can see how that would be hard for some.

Thanks for the tip but what reason should I have the 3 nades? Grenade jumps, or just killing enemies?
Phlem Taco He does a grenade jump. You’ll see what I’m talking about, he explains it in his Metropolis LASO guide that he just released. It’s not necessary but it helps

Back in the day you got me through Halo CE LASO. I was going to move on to H2 but I saw your Cairo video and said no way, Jose. Not worth it. Now with your new vids, I might actually go for it.

His Cairo strat isn’t that great. Getting Johnson through is not needed. I cleared Cairo in about 1 hour using other strats that were way simpler
4:20 I also found jumping on top of the T shaped thing next to the satellite will also get you to the top of the structure

So much simpler than Cairo Station. I beat Halo CE LASO thanks to you almost 2 years ago. Tried Halo 2, and after a few weeks gave up on Cairo Station. I did everything exactly the way you showed, and couldn't beat. Gave up. Fast forward 2 years, and I finally beat it. Now I'm on to the Outskirts!
I'm definitely going to rage quit at Gravemind though :(

The final section needs to be handled with care. Yes, you can speed through it with the Ghost, but you need to have luck on your side. And that doesn't always happen, unfortunately. The Ghosts in this section don't always speed past you, and sometimes they even start shooting at you while you're sniping the grunts mounted on the turrets. I tried speeding through with the Ghost several times using several different tactics, and each time I got killed, even with overshields. I finally finished the mission when I sniped the grunts, left the area, and switched my Ghost out for a Warthog. With the Warthog I was able to speed past the Ghosts and make it to the end of the level, but I still almost died. I think my only saving grace is the fact that a Warthog at top speed is a bit faster than a Ghost at top speed.
Its really is i got soft locked at the end checkpoint with 0 sheilds because he said “just speed past the last 2 of those vehicles
These guides are amazing ;any chance you’d make new 3 hour speedrun guides for halo 1-4 with modern strats as well? I know ce has changed a lot with stuff like banshee grab and new flood bumps discovered since 2014. Not sure if other halos have changed that much since then, but either way you’re a real legend to halo.
Just focusing on LASO revisions right now. I won't rule out redoing those speedruns at some point, though.

At 4:30 there's a 3rd way easier way. Jump on the satellite, then jump on the T shaped thing behind it. From there you can run and jump onto the surface
Right before you started making these again started halo 2 laso and am stuck on regret, hoping your improved guide can help me out. Thanks for the amazing videos as always
The gondolas and boss battle are way easier in the new version! I essentially skip both gondola encounters and remove all enemies/RNG in the Regret fight. That comes out on Monday.
Halo Completionist thank you so much! Your guides were also the only thing that got me through reach, ODST and CE on laso. Truth and reconciliation was such a pain because it gave me a checkpoint with no health and shields in the hangar so I couldn’t do the grenade jump and had to fight to keyes with the assault rifle and 1 bar of health

I got screwed terribly in Regret LASO when I did it years ago, Regret really did like aimbotting me for some reason
Not much to say about this one. My partner and I got through with little difficulty. Do the skip. Not just the rooftop skip, obviously do that one, but the one that takes you straight to the tunnel. Too many enemies in the way, too many opportunities to get blown up. Not worth the hassle for the extra time it takes. You can crouch-jump up at the edge, no need for grenades. Then jump the way he showed you up to the satellite or straight to the spot to wedge yourself and progress.
If you're in co-op like us, you'll have to progress solo if one of you can't make the jump, all the way until the opening of the tunnel. The teleport point is after the second tunnel ghost. The ones not piloted, that is.
I actually found the guys in the warthog to be surprisingly helpful. They took out a few elites we revealed and kept the pressure on them, as well as distracted them. They inevitably all died, but they were useful for however long they lasted.

Be careful with the 2 Shadows, the Ghost they drop off WILL chase you to the end of the level. The checkpoint just after that one but just before the 2 other ghosts was problematic. Thankfully the 2 infront don't aggro unless you're close enough. You can board and melee the other ghosts for shields which was crucial for me. I was getting rekt at that final burst.

Now I think I’m going to have flashbacks of that awful time...
Fun fact, you can actually destroy the shadow troop carriers so they don't fire on you when you're passing them. Ofc you still have to deal with any ghosts/elites that may be in the area (unless you decide the snipe them with your ghost), but it's one less thing to worry about. 14/46
at the part were you jump in between the pole and the wall if you actually jump on the satellite dish then turn around you can crouch jump on the T looking structure then crouch jump on the ledge where your wanting to go just a third option to get up there
master chief just goes master parkour on this lol
All this taught me is that Master Chief requires sustenance
I love that last part.. there is a random ghost behind me so shooting those grunts is not an option for me.

Nicely done Silver, I wonder if some of the invisible geometry becomes visible in Anniversary Graphics like in some places in CEA

also at the point were you lunge at the elite in the hallway yu dont have to do that just jump over them quickly and jump to the right over the rail to get away from them
Once u get in the tunnel just use the warthog and use u marines as passengers to take all the damage an speed run if u know how to whip that thing lol i been learning the ropes sword flys and all but yanno h2 is def brutal asf

I needed this after my week long stay at Cairo Station and painting the walls red with Sgt. Bait's blood. Only had 1 snag with a TERRIBLE checkpoint timing, but still managed to get par score.
That part at 17:00 I wouldn't recommend speeding through it, as I did and had just barely a sliver of shield left and then got a checkpoint for the last section and had to reset because a ghost would just have to look at me to kill me. Just hang back and kill the ghost that spawns then pepper all the enemies to death. Then melee some vehicles so that you can speed through the final section.
The last part I got there without shield.
After getting killed multiple times trying to get a shield.
I just killed the grunts and said.
Fuck it.
And actually worked.
Excited to try this level tonight, hopefully my MCC keeps working good and not crashing! 🤔

Imagine doing this LASO with no vehicles
4:12 you can also move the container to the other side. Saves you a grenade which you will need.
at the end of the mission i had a weird instance where the grunt towards the exit didn't get on the turret and instead hopped down into the shadow opening that you drive the ghost through, luckily i was able to splatter him and get out with just enough shields to survive the elite plasma fire from behind. just thought i'd share that possibility so that people can be careful of that hazardous, methane-breathing speed bump

In your video you did not explain that the elites will get in the ghosts after the two shadows stop and will chase you from behind and hunt you down like a Rabid dog

I beat the whole playlist with my friend... But we didn't do the first 2 missions solo so it doesn't count... Looking forward to finishing it again. Did Cairo Station and it took 3 hours.
I have the same issue. I just hit restart playlist and watched the first two solo. We had only beaten the first level so will it count if we pick back up where we left off?
We did restart the playlist but it still didn't reward us with completion even though it had 15/15 complete. We ended up doing the whole thing all over. If you're lucky you may get it in the middle. We got our achievement during the last mission. I will say it's MUCH easier the second time around.

Yeah I know Cairo Station can be a disaster. But I think it'll be beneficial to redo the first 2 solo missions and then Cairo again. It's weird too. Because we finished the 4th one. But I didn't get the achievement until a week or 2 after.

How do you jump from the light to the ledge it doesn’t work for me
You want to crouch mid air to pull your legs up and get to higher places. Makes jumps easier.
Is there a load zone you have to hit in the tunnel or could you just stay up top and follow the tunnel in the new graphics? Also this is by far the easiest laso level so far
You didnt need the pelican but i guess its more fun. Get to fly in a flightless level...

I got stuck at 17:33 because he said just run past the first to vehicles.. i got a checkpoint at the end of the level with no health and was impossible to finnish
Finally beat Cairo Station after getting to the bugger part twice and having to restart from the beginning with the save and quit not working. Between being reset and dying it took me about 6 hours in game time.

I did LASO guides 5 years ago, but I'm revising them as they come to PC with much better strats and quality.
Mr Halo completionist I have a big issue with LASO in general and I can’t explain why it happens. Sometimes when I do the save and quit method, sometimes I do it before I even die, I get restarted on the entire mission. Any explanation? And how can I avoid this?

maybe youre dying to fast after loading in (or saving and quitting)
halo has a mechanic which determines if you got an unusable checkpoints, meaning if you die within seconds of reseting to the checkpoint over and over again the game thinks it got you a really bad checkpoint and instead of having you replay the entire mission it resets you to the checkpoint BEFORE your actual checkpoint. maybe laso thinks there are no actual checkpoints because of iron and instead puts you to the begining of the mission again. but im just guessing here. in any way: i hope you find a way around it
At 12:44 you can see a turret but when he goes up turret is gone^^
i dont know why LASO doesn't have the non-scoring skulls
It's all the original H2 skulls, minus Envy since its beneficial.
Why wasn't that grunt at the beginning camouflaged?
When enemies spawn they start off visible and then turn invisible after a couple seconds as their camo kicks in. That grunt in particular spawns right as you turn around the corner so you're still able to see him for a bit.
That warthog moment was pretty good

Could you use the scarab skull during this? Its risky using it, but with some planning, could make gameplay easier.
No, for the achievement you need to play the playlist which dictates which skulls are on. Scarab is not included.

Yes just absurdly hard and you'll still get plenty of challenge from your LASO run so why not make a part of it easier?

1 problem, you shouldnt be able to get in the ghost at all because of that skull that disables your ability to get in a vehicle unless boarding it
That skull isnt included in the LASO playlist. Only the original H2 skulls, minus Envy.

No point doing H2 LASO coop, since most of the skips don’t work in coop.
Solo you also have the option of save and quit if you die as well
Rknb11 7 co op the option of not having to save and quit exists

This has got to be the easiest level in existence.

If you're going to use exploits, might as well just use hax.
Thousands of hours mastering a game = hacks. Got it.
