Shove the needle rifle through the door, tried for about 30 times, eventually managed to do it and get up and over the wall. Once I get over, Needle rifle despawns, nowhere to be seen, now I'm left with just the DMR. Shortly after, "If you can't get the needle rifle through the door, just forego the DMR and proceed with the Needle Rifle" FML man, your guides are great but you gotta say this stuff before we follow your steps in case something goes wrong. I dunno if i can complete this with just a DMR now but here goes......

11:30 is a good time to use your drop shield in the doorway, especially if the elites saw you early or your shields are down. I was killed by concussion rifles there a few times before i figured it out.
I found the final concussion rifle jump to be too tricky, so I fought my way through all of the enemies the old fashioned way. Ended up needing to assassinate the chieftain with the fuel rod. My hologram also got despawned eventually, but after a few attempts I got the two final shots in. Finally finished! Thanks so much for the awesome guides!
I did the jump but run out of ammo before I could even use the gun...so I had to fight the final battle with almost 0 dmr and needle rifle ammo...The fact that I managed to pull through with basically garbage weapons still eludes me....if it wasn't for the good old hologram to distract the brutes so that I could stick them and pistol them, this run would probably be over
Just thought I'd post some advice for the pipe jump to go up to the ledge once you get on the pipe at 12:43. I was using toggle crouching the entire playthrough and that wasn't working so I switched my controls to holding crouch instead and made the jump first try with a crouch jump using that setup. Hope this helps.
Just an extra note for anyone reading... toggle crouch jumps will always have a lower jump height than hold-crouching, this is the same for all Halo games. So bear that in mind any time you have a tricky jump to do, no matter the Halo game
Tip for anyone struggling with the triple concussion jump at 22:20 Use 4 shots instead of 3. If you have 8 shots, or if you have 7 but go through the Bugger caves normally to get more needle rifle ammo, you should have 1 spare shot to do this. I couldn't get 3 to ever work but 4 always does

For anyone having trouble with the "3 shots to pipe" jump at 22:26, the first shot needs to be done WHEN you jump, not after. So try to jump when shooting the first one and then just spam i guess Also, watch out for the grunts cause i feel like their shots slow you down
To add to this for anyone else who struggled like I did, really make sure you are standing on the very top of the rail, and start holding to the left right after the first shot. Like someone else recommended, go in to a custom firefight to practice
I was able to shove the Needle Rifle through the wall. I was able to do the triple Concussion Rifle jump. I was NOT able to do both. Que a long and hard battle ending in a 2 HR 40 MIN clear time. Thank you for this playlist. You have made me a happy completionist.
I completed the procces all the way until 22:17. After that I got tired of the concussion jumps and decided to just man up and play it like I would so on Heroic difficulty. After so many Iron-skull work arounds. I managed to complete this level. Using the hologram as a distraction proved to be really effective as this guide displays. After Halo reach, was finished. A deep feeling told me, "No, I think you're just getting started." As soon as HCEA comes to PC, I'll get on that LASO playlist. Thank you for all of these guides; they made my life less complicated. 👌😏👍

EDIT: Holy FUCK, I did it! I did some of he most unorthodox shit imaginable but fuckin’ did it! I AM PUMPED! Thank you for the guide! For anyone doing this mission, DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS FOR AMMO LMAO! I had to dance (melee, back off, rotate around, melee, back off, etc), ninja, hide and lure the brutes with holograms, run around the fucking map like a mad man, etc... A nightmare. So happy to be done. 700/700 MCC achievements baby! My dumbass is up my the Mac Cannon. I killed the first phantom, then don’t have enough needle rifle or DMR ammo to kill everything else to spawn more phantoms... I didn’t get a fuck ton of needle rifle ammo at the start (with the covenant watchtower)... I regret everything. I mixed you and Naked Eli’s WR speed run starts together and I think I ultimately fucked myself... I also used his nade and 3 (4, with the last one) concussion rifle strat to get to the Mac Cannon instead, so I don’t have a drop shield for health, and instead have sprint. How fucked am I? Royally fucked. I fucking hate this mission.
WARNING! Make sure you don't die after destroying the cruiser. If you die just after destroying the cruiser the game reverts back to the start of the level. Happend to me just now... Edit: I just got it. You can complete the MAC Gun part normally without hiding quite easily.
I remember playing this on LASO (minus the blind skull) in 2011, following NakedEli's and MythicTyrant's guides. I did it on Solo, so I had to quit out every time I died and I actually fought all the enemies in the holdout section. It was incredibly tedious but I got through it. Then, after I completed the mission, I bragged to my friends and and they convinced me to run through it again with 4 players. After 3 tedious hours of shouting down my mic, we finally completed it and I vividly remember going to sleep afterwards but I couldn't stop thinking about those brute chieftains and my heart was still racing as though I was actually there on Reach. I don't think I've ever felt so intense about a videogame since then.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for this guide. I never thought I’d get any of the “complete LASO playlist” achievements, yet following this guide I unlocked Reach’s this morning. I look forward to following your updated guides for the other games as they release on PC. Don’t know if I’ll get any of them (especially Halo 2) but I’ll certainly give them a try, and at the very least I’ve got one.

This guide was overall pretty damn useful and I'm extremely thankful for it, great job! If anyone wants a faster way of dealing with the fuel rod brute, I managed to handle him just fine with the phantom turret as well, if you keep a consistent distance and height from the brute he'll resort to throwing grenades rather than shooting, this makes it easier to handle him since you only have to strafe a bit.
You actually don't need a concussion rifle for the jump at 7:25. You can just walk/jump up there. It may take a few tries but it's really not very difficult. I'd say maybe 1 out of 5 tries will get you up there and you don't need to worry about the concussion rifle.
Last zealot elite blew himself up with his fuel rod. I'd like to think he commited seppuku to retain some of his honour, because he knew he had been defeated after watching me beat all of Reach on SLASO. This channel is a godsend.
2:07 you can just drive through this area, follow the dirt road around the scarabs and enemies, just make sure you have full health, there is a health pack after you jump the gap 7:48 jump past the dead plant on the ground (brown sticks) and the next area will despawn 22:34 if you cannot survive the concussion jump, run around on the pipe and wait until your drop shield recharges. Make sure to hug the wall or you may fall off running back and forth.
Just finished our Reach LASO achievement last night with the help of this guide. We didn’t have the concussion rifle at the end to get to the MAC gun so we stacked 3 players on top of each other and stack jumped our way up. It was beautiful AND it worked!
I didn't have the hologram probably because I used it prior to the final section and it likely vanished after handing the package to Keyes, but I did have the Dome Shield. I don't know if it really mattered at all, but I put it down right by the ladders to the MAC Gun, quickly hopped into it and just blasted at the core as you're meant to - as accurately as I could - and I finally did it! I did have full HP and all, so I probably couldn't have done it without that. If I would have made my cheers audible, the whole neighbourhood would've heard them. Thank you so much for this journey! My god has it been a tough one, but holy heck did I have an absolute blast with it! Your easy to understand and listen to kind of commentary and help made a run I would never have otherwise managed to do, possible. I'm overjoyed having just finished my first LASO run! Really quickly - I struggled with your way of skipping the bugs. But, I was able to do a simpler boost (closer to the rock). It only needs 1 shot and involves backwards shooting. Amazing videos! All of them!

Wow I've come back a few months after completing my Halo reach laso, and just hearing the start of this reminds me of how I felt like a fural animal taping things to my tv so I could see the cross hairs and hiding behind things because I didn't know how much heath I had. I didn't feel like that at the time, now that I look back. Thank you Silver. This is my proudest achievement and I feel proud I was able to pull it off. We are the 0.06% of people that made it
God knows why this game despawns my DMR every single time i pass through the last hall and i forgot to pickup ammo from 2 jackals back at the wraith section so this just went from hard to impossible. Edit: no idea how but I cleared the whole pad with one needle rifle that definitely wasnt full, got a checkpoint with 2 brute chieftains left. somehow assassinated the fuel rod chieftain and barely stuck the hamboy after popping his shield. Had a comedic checkpoint right as the DMR crate was flying off the cliff as I tried to grab one. made due with a pistol for the zealots and finally cleared this playlist and now have 100% in MCC again after it was robbed from me with the Reach update
THANK YOU, I never would have completed it without these guides. It took me a long 8 hours 30 minutes and 58 seconds to join the 0.06%, but it is definitely worth it.
i hate those concussion rifle jumps with a passion both of them feel impossible and in like an hour havent got a single one, i got up once with a plasma grenade jump but havent since
Thank you for that shooting the gun throught the door trick! My issue was never getting up to the mac gun, but having enough ammo to kill the brutes and jackals. This helps a lot!
I managed to get that to work on the first try, then failed the jump trick. Reverted, now the game REFUSES to let that needle rifle go through the door😭
@@JuiceboxCE SAME FOR ME!!! but he said you don’t need to do the needles door trick, just have you needles and concussion rifle. Make sure you have some tape on the screen marking your gun curser. Makes aiming so much easier
Thanks Silver for the guides I’ve finished 3/ODST/4/ and now reach. FOR ANYONE STRUGGLING 1-Try and get a concussion rifle with 8-9 shots at the start (it’s easy cause it’s at the start of the mission) 2-fight the buggers don’t do the skip…LOAD UP on all the NEEDLER RIFLE you can 3-once you get to the room where you have to barricade the enemies and you clear them out…load up on needler rifle ammo and juggle two needler rifles to the final section. 4-once you get to the final section with a full needler rifle and a half full needler rifle a DMR and your concussion rifle clear out as many enemies as you can on the first wave but leave three(once you have two left the next wave will trigger). Use your needler rifle best you can so you only have one needler rifle to send under the door. 4-once you have left three enemies alive on the first wave. Throw your rifle under the door and do the jump. THE KEY FOR THE JUMP is for your FOV to be at default, be as high up on the stairway beam as you can,shoot as you jump not jump then shoot, shoot 3-4 rounds and you will get up there. 5-once at the top kill that 1 of the 3 enemies left in that wave then you can jump in take out the ships and follow the rest of the guide. This is what I found to make this easy and painless in 53mins
Seems like the needle rifle needs to be positioned and shot in specific locations to work. Two shots does the trick but it makes having 8 shots mandatory. Really tricky as it can be done with one or two Found out that as long as the needles rifle is pushed against one of the black bars on the door, stand and shoot the part of the needles rifle that is on the black bar on the door. Doesn’t have to be sideways too. A tip to fight the last elite: If he is not inside the grate area, run up to the wall infront of you. Fuel rods don’t explode on impact at close ranges on surfaces. Risky, but you can also try to do the head glitch tactic.
After about twenty attempts, I actually came down to the comments to see if anybody had commented on how exactly to get the needle rifle under the door. Just got it on my first try, thanks!
I put 7 rounds into it before it goes through the door. The gun doesn't move. My first run-through it worked but I dropped off the net gun too soon, and now this. My luck is terrible right now haha
Just finished. Thanks for the guides it only took me 2 days following them. I forgot the 2nd round of needle rifle ammo. I LITERALLY killed everything including the engineer and had ZERO shots left! I honestly got super lucky my entire run. Best of luck to everyone going for the achievement.
Last mission baby. You're guides have made LASO easy and not stressful. Although I had to improvise here and there. For anyone doing laso, if you don't get the exact RNG for the guides improvise your own strategy. It's saved my run 4 times now.
Could not manage the last glitch so had to take out the brutes normally which is not as hard as you would think, the only hard section is dealing with either the plasma cannon brute or plasma launcher brute depending on what spawned, i ended up using the grenade launcher to break his sheilds and 17000 dmr shots later his helmet poped off Anyway thanks for the guide never thought id do a laso run in a million years but i had to get every achievment for reach so thanks my man
Thank you so much for this guide, Silver! I've used your achievement guides countless times before, especially with your speedrunning guides since they were the large stepping stones for me to understand a lot of the finer details of Halo: Reach speedruns, but I finally decided to bite the bullet and play through a full LASO run on Reach, and as of today, I just finished up with Lone Wolf and had my achievement unlock! Your tips and tricks really helped me out in preparing myself for what I would face on my run, and I had a lot of fun going through the playlist despite how annoying some areas were. Overall, thank you so much, and although I'll keep working towards the LASO Master achievement, I'm happy to now be a part of the 0.06%!

The last concussion rife jump gave me some stress a was the hardest part but after reading some comments stuck it, 50,000 points and 25 attempts later 😂. I think thats a great idea Silver to release each new LASO guide for each PC release next year, gives you more time to explore new options for each LASO campaign (maybe even 3/ODST/4 could be refined as well but CE and 2 definitely need to be made easier). I sort of wished 343 will implement 3-4 player Coop for CE and 2 which would make those campaigns more doable I think, especially on LASO.
Amazing guides. I would never have finished LASO so easily without your help. One small caveat I would point out is that the Hologram skill is insanely useful in certain sections. Most notably it helped me get through Long Night of Solace and the last portion of this mission. The AI is very dumb when it comes to holograms, even if they see you throw it out they will dive bomb it. I liked to position myself behind a corner or around a door and throw a hologram out a few meters ahead of myself and if an elite is close enough they will charge it and try to assassinate the hologram giving you the opportunity to run up behind them and back smack. Was a far easier, faster and more consistent strategy than trying to pepper them from afar with a plasma pistol. You can throw a hologram out, they will shoot at it and you close the distance and find cover. Again aside from that small bit I greatly appreaciated these guides thank you.
After several hours of refined and pure torture it is done. And honestly while i do think i could have completed the pillar of Autumn LASO with my own knowledge it probably would have taken 5 hours, but thanks to your video it only took 1. I can't thank you enough for saving my time and sanity.

Tips for the bubble concussion jump as per @ MoonlapseVertigo You need to be crouching (hold crouch) and you need to start shooting at the same time as you jump. Stay crouching and get into the pipe. Thanks a lot for the guides Silver, some stuff you need to explain a bit more though, we're all a bit dumb.
Love all the strategy in this, and the discovered methods you can exploit that were completely unintentional. Like the concussion rifle ledge for buggers despawn.
Two things for people struggling with that concussion rifle jump at the end: 1. You can go practice the jump on the firefight version of the map. Just give yourself the concussion rifle with infinite ammo and invulnerability and set it to easy for lower enemy aggression. 2. It's important that for the first shot of the jump, you shoot the concussion rifle at almost the exact moment you hit the jump button from the crouch position, almost hit them together. If you wait even a fraction of a second longer it may mess your positioning up.
This series has been very informative, I plan on following your guide to get me through LASO. Your comentery was very good as well, clear, simple and informative: in other words exactly what I was looking for.

Great guides! I ran out of ammo on the last 3 chieftains and it took me 30 minutes to get one to die to plasma nade spam. Thank goodness for the catch skull!

Finally got it! My first LASO on my favorite Halo game. The hardest part for me was using the concussion rifle to launch the needler rifle through the door LOL
Just want to say thanks for this awesome and informative guide. I had to stray from it at the very end because I could not complete that jump with the concussion rifle up to the MAC cannon, so I played the end as intended. It took a while but it was worth the accomplishment of solo LASO :)
Imagine shooting the gut of the ship then die but it starts the end cutscene but then cause I died right after restarts while I’m in the end cutscene rip
I've had that happen. Left me scarred. Every time I'm playing LASO and the ending cutscene triggers for a mission, I spam the buttons to skip it so that won't happen again.
I had that happen to me during Tip of the Spear. Killed myself as the Flacon entered the shield. Cutscene played but I couldn't skip cuz I died... Next thing I knew... I'm doing the canyon run again, lol.
With this completed, I did all LASO playlist. Halo 2 LASO was THE hardest achievement I have ever done. There is no achievement more hardcore than this one. Still got the chills from when I saw that chevos pop up hahaha.

Restarted the mission twice as got tired of failing the jump and so tried doing the firefight and gave up after an hour. Got to the firefight section and realised i had stupidly lost the concussion rifle so restarted again. On the 3rd attempt I did the jump. I found killing the four grunts with DMR stopped me from getting shot as the jackels never came close and only used the full needle rifle I had which was more than enough ammo, just pick your shots. Thanks for the guide - never touching reach again!
Getting the needle rifle through the door with the concussion rifle was definitely one of my top 5 most difficult challenges in the entire laso run Had to take a knee and catch my breath, but I finally got it

I've been trying that triple concussion rifle shot jump for 3 hours now. The thing about having scoring on, besides showing if you indeed killed something, is that it reminds you of how much you've been failing. My score is currently on -50304 because of how many times I've been doing the Save/Quit workaround due to the fact that I'm garbage apparently Edit: got to -60720 but finally made it. In my case I ended up shooting four times instead of three. The first time I decided to do it, I got it. Geez
This series was great to complete LASO, thanks. On my playthrough of this mission right before the final area with the Brutes my needle rifle despawned going through a door, then while juggling my plasma pistol and DRM I accidentally gave my DMR to the marine and lost so much ammo. Both times got a checkpoint before I noticed it. And before you say it, the secret DMR crate got launched off the map by one of the dropships. Let's say it was a fun hour and a half to beat this mission...
i was also having issues with that but then i decided to change my crouch behavior from toggle to hold and literally got it on my first attempt after that change.

11:30 is a good time to use your drop shield in the doorway, especially if the elites saw you early or your shields are down. I was killed by concussion rifles there a few times before i figured it out.
Putting a metronome in the background at 130 bpm helped me to time the concussion rifle shots properly

I found the final concussion rifle jump to be too tricky, so I fought my way through all of the enemies the old fashioned way. Ended up needing to assassinate the chieftain with the fuel rod. My hologram also got despawned eventually, but after a few attempts I got the two final shots in. Finally finished! Thanks so much for the awesome guides!
I did the jump but run out of ammo before I could even use the gun...so I had to fight the final battle with almost 0 dmr and needle rifle ammo...The fact that I managed to pull through with basically garbage weapons still eludes me....if it wasn't for the good old hologram to distract the brutes so that I could stick them and pistol them, this run would probably be over
That final tri-shot concussion jump is always the bane of my existence in this campaign.

Just thought I'd post some advice for the pipe jump to go up to the ledge once you get on the pipe at 12:43. I was using toggle crouching the entire playthrough and that wasn't working so I switched my controls to holding crouch instead and made the jump first try with a crouch jump using that setup. Hope this helps.

Just an extra note for anyone reading... toggle crouch jumps will always have a lower jump height than hold-crouching, this is the same for all Halo games. So bear that in mind any time you have a tricky jump to do, no matter the Halo game

Tip for anyone struggling with the triple concussion jump at 22:20
Use 4 shots instead of 3. If you have 8 shots, or if you have 7 but go through the Bugger caves normally to get more needle rifle ammo, you should have 1 spare shot to do this. I couldn't get 3 to ever work but 4 always does

For anyone having trouble with the "3 shots to pipe" jump at 22:26, the first shot needs to be done WHEN you jump, not after. So try to jump when shooting the first one and then just spam i guess
Also, watch out for the grunts cause i feel like their shots slow you down
To add to this for anyone else who struggled like I did, really make sure you are standing on the very top of the rail, and start holding to the left right after the first shot. Like someone else recommended, go in to a custom firefight to practice
I was able to shove the Needle Rifle through the wall. I was able to do the triple Concussion Rifle jump. I was NOT able to do both. Que a long and hard battle ending in a 2 HR 40 MIN clear time. Thank you for this playlist. You have made me a happy completionist.
I completed the procces all the way until 22:17. After that I got tired of the concussion jumps and decided to just man up and play it like I would so on Heroic difficulty. After so many Iron-skull work arounds. I managed to complete this level. Using the hologram as a distraction proved to be really effective as this guide displays. After Halo reach, was finished. A deep feeling told me, "No, I think you're just getting started." As soon as HCEA comes to PC, I'll get on that LASO playlist. Thank you for all of these guides; they made my life less complicated. 👌😏👍

I didn’t get a fuck ton of needle rifle ammo at the start (with the covenant watchtower)... I regret everything.
I mixed you and Naked Eli’s WR speed run starts together and I think I ultimately fucked myself... I also used his nade and 3 (4, with the last one) concussion rifle strat to get to the Mac Cannon instead, so I don’t have a drop shield for health, and instead have sprint.
How fucked am I? Royally fucked.

I remember playing this on LASO (minus the blind skull) in 2011, following NakedEli's and MythicTyrant's guides. I did it on Solo, so I had to quit out every time I died and I actually fought all the enemies in the holdout section. It was incredibly tedious but I got through it. Then, after I completed the mission, I bragged to my friends and and they convinced me to run through it again with 4 players.
After 3 tedious hours of shouting down my mic, we finally completed it and I vividly remember going to sleep afterwards but I couldn't stop thinking about those brute chieftains and my heart was still racing as though I was actually there on Reach. I don't think I've ever felt so intense about a videogame since then.

I look forward to following your updated guides for the other games as they release on PC. This guide was overall pretty damn useful and I'm extremely thankful for it, great job! If anyone wants a faster way of dealing with the fuel rod brute, I managed to handle him just fine with the phantom turret as well, if you keep a consistent distance and height from the brute he'll resort to throwing grenades rather than shooting, this makes it easier to handle him since you only have to strafe a bit.

You actually don't need a concussion rifle for the jump at 7:25. You can just walk/jump up there. It may take a few tries but it's really not very difficult. I'd say maybe 1 out of 5 tries will get you up there and you don't need to worry about the concussion rifle.
Last zealot elite blew himself up with his fuel rod.
I'd like to think he commited seppuku to retain some of his honour, because he knew he had been defeated after watching me beat all of Reach on SLASO. This channel is a godsend.
2:07 you can just drive through this area, follow the dirt road around the scarabs and enemies, just make sure you have full health, there is a health pack after you jump the gap
7:48 jump past the dead plant on the ground (brown sticks) and the next area will despawn
22:34 if you cannot survive the concussion jump, run around on the pipe and wait until your drop shield recharges. Make sure to hug the wall or you may fall off running back and forth.

Just finished our Reach LASO achievement last night with the help of this guide. We didn’t have the concussion rifle at the end to get to the MAC gun so we stacked 3 players on top of each other and stack jumped our way up. It was beautiful AND it worked!

I didn't have the hologram probably because I used it prior to the final section and it likely vanished after handing the package to Keyes, but I did have the Dome Shield. I don't know if it really mattered at all, but I put it down right by the ladders to the MAC Gun, quickly hopped into it and just blasted at the core as you're meant to - as accurately as I could - and I finally did it! I did have full HP and all, so I probably couldn't have done it without that. If I would have made my cheers audible, the whole neighbourhood would've heard them.
Thank you so much for this journey! My god has it been a tough one, but holy heck did I have an absolute blast with it! Your easy to understand and listen to kind of commentary and help made a run I would never have otherwise managed to do, possible. I'm overjoyed having just finished my first LASO run! Really quickly - I struggled with your way of skipping the bugs. But, I was able to do a simpler boost (closer to the rock). It only needs 1 shot and involves backwards shooting. Amazing videos! All of them!
You don't need backwards shooting, even, you can just do it facing the cliff, it's the same as rocket jumping in any other game

Wow I've come back a few months after completing my Halo reach laso, and just hearing the start of this reminds me of how I felt like a fural animal taping things to my tv so I could see the cross hairs and hiding behind things because I didn't know how much heath I had. I didn't feel like that at the time, now that I look back. Thank you Silver. This is my proudest achievement and I feel proud I was able to pull it off. We are the 0.06% of people that made it

God knows why this game despawns my DMR every single time i pass through the last hall and i forgot to pickup ammo from 2 jackals back at the wraith section so this just went from hard to impossible.
Edit: no idea how but I cleared the whole pad with one needle rifle that definitely wasnt full, got a checkpoint with 2 brute chieftains left. somehow assassinated the fuel rod chieftain and barely stuck the hamboy after popping his shield. Had a comedic checkpoint right as the DMR crate was flying off the cliff as I tried to grab one. made due with a pistol for the zealots and finally cleared this playlist and now have 100% in MCC again after it was robbed from me with the Reach update

i hate those concussion rifle jumps with a passion both of them feel impossible and in like an hour havent got a single one, i got up once with a plasma grenade jump but havent since
Thank you for that shooting the gun throught the door trick! My issue was never getting up to the mac gun, but having enough ammo to kill the brutes and jackals. This helps a lot!
I managed to get that to work on the first try, then failed the jump trick. Reverted, now the game REFUSES to let that needle rifle go through the door😭
@@JuiceboxCE SAME FOR ME!!! but he said you don’t need to do the needles door trick, just have you needles and concussion rifle. Make sure you have some tape on the screen marking your gun curser. Makes aiming so much easier

FOR ANYONE STRUGGLING
1-Try and get a concussion rifle with 8-9 shots at the start (it’s easy cause it’s at the start of the mission)
2-fight the buggers don’t do the skip…LOAD UP on all the NEEDLER RIFLE you can
3-once you get to the room where you have to barricade the enemies and you clear them out…load up on needler rifle ammo and juggle two needler rifles to the final section.
4-once you get to the final section with a full needler rifle and a half full needler rifle a DMR and your concussion rifle clear out as many enemies as you can on the first wave but leave three(once you have two left the next wave will trigger). Use your needler rifle best you can so you only have one needler rifle to send under the door.
4-once you have left three enemies alive on the first wave. Throw your rifle under the door and do the jump. THE KEY FOR THE JUMP is for your FOV to be at default, be as high up on the stairway beam as you can,shoot as you jump not jump then shoot, shoot 3-4 rounds and you will get up there.
5-once at the top kill that 1 of the 3 enemies left in that wave then you can jump in take out the ships and follow the rest of the guide.
This is what I found to make this easy and painless in 53mins
Seems like the needle rifle needs to be positioned and shot in specific locations to work.
Two shots does the trick but it makes having 8 shots mandatory.
Really tricky as it can be done with one or two
Found out that as long as the needles rifle is pushed against one of the black bars on the door, stand and shoot the part of the needles rifle that is on the black bar on the door.
Doesn’t have to be sideways too.
A tip to fight the last elite:
If he is not inside the grate area, run up to the wall infront of you.
Fuel rods don’t explode on impact at close ranges on surfaces.
Risky, but you can also try to do the head glitch tactic.
After about twenty attempts, I actually came down to the comments to see if anybody had commented on how exactly to get the needle rifle under the door. Just got it on my first try, thanks!

I put 7 rounds into it before it goes through the door. The gun doesn't move. My first run-through it worked but I dropped off the net gun too soon, and now this. My luck is terrible right now haha

Just finished. Thanks for the guides it only took me 2 days following them. I forgot the 2nd round of needle rifle ammo. I LITERALLY killed everything including the engineer and had ZERO shots left! I honestly got super lucky my entire run. Best of luck to everyone going for the achievement.
Last mission baby. You're guides have made LASO easy and not stressful. Although I had to improvise here and there. For anyone doing laso, if you don't get the exact RNG for the guides improvise your own strategy. It's saved my run 4 times now.
Could not manage the last glitch so had to take out the brutes normally which is not as hard as you would think, the only hard section is dealing with either the plasma cannon brute or plasma launcher brute depending on what spawned, i ended up using the grenade launcher to break his sheilds and 17000 dmr shots later his helmet poped off
Anyway thanks for the guide never thought id do a laso run in a million years but i had to get every achievment for reach so thanks my man

I've used your achievement guides countless times before, especially with your speedrunning guides since they were the large stepping stones for me to understand a lot of the finer details of Halo: Reach speedruns, but I finally decided to bite the bullet and play through a full LASO run on Reach, and as of today, I just finished up with Lone Wolf and had my achievement unlock! Your tips and tricks really helped me out in preparing myself for what I would face on my run, and I had a lot of fun going through the playlist despite how annoying some areas were. Overall, thank you so much, and although I'll keep working towards the LASO Master achievement, I'm happy to now be a part of the 0.06%!

Thank you! Yeah I'd definitely wait for the new H2 guides. They are vastly superior to the old ones. They'll start coming out when H2 hits PC which seems like it'll be in the next week or two.
I think thats a great idea Silver to release each new LASO guide for each PC release next year, gives you more time to explore new options for each LASO campaign (maybe even 3/ODST/4 could be refined as well but CE and 2 definitely need to be made easier). I sort of wished 343 will implement 3-4 player Coop for CE and 2 which would make those campaigns more doable I think, especially on LASO.
Amazing guides. I would never have finished LASO so easily without your help. One small caveat I would point out is that the Hologram skill is insanely useful in certain sections. Most notably it helped me get through Long Night of Solace and the last portion of this mission. The AI is very dumb when it comes to holograms, even if they see you throw it out they will dive bomb it. I liked to position myself behind a corner or around a door and throw a hologram out a few meters ahead of myself and if an elite is close enough they will charge it and try to assassinate the hologram giving you the opportunity to run up behind them and back smack. Was a far easier, faster and more consistent strategy than trying to pepper them from afar with a plasma pistol. You can throw a hologram out, they will shoot at it and you close the distance and find cover.
Again aside from that small bit I greatly appreaciated these guides thank you.
After several hours of refined and pure torture it is done. And honestly while i do think i could have completed the pillar of Autumn LASO with my own knowledge it probably would have taken 5 hours, but thanks to your video it only took 1. I can't thank you enough for saving my time and sanity.

Tips for the bubble concussion jump as per @
MoonlapseVertigo You need to be crouching (hold crouch) and you need to start shooting at the same time as you jump. Stay crouching and get into the pipe.

Love all the strategy in this, and the discovered methods you can exploit that were completely unintentional. Like the concussion rifle ledge for buggers despawn.
Two things for people struggling with that concussion rifle jump at the end:
1. You can go practice the jump on the firefight version of the map. Just give yourself the concussion rifle with infinite ammo and invulnerability and set it to easy for lower enemy aggression.
2. It's important that for the first shot of the jump, you shoot the concussion rifle at almost the exact moment you hit the jump button from the crouch position, almost hit them together. If you wait even a fraction of a second longer it may mess your positioning up.
As I was following your guide to find the last dmr crate, it shot out of the wall and splattered me.
This series has been very informative, I plan on following your guide to get me through LASO.

Finally got it! My first LASO on my favorite Halo game. The hardest part for me was using the concussion rifle to launch the needler rifle through the door LOL
Just want to say thanks for this awesome and informative guide. I had to stray from it at the very end because I could not complete that jump with the concussion rifle up to the MAC cannon, so I played the end as intended. It took a while but it was worth the accomplishment of solo LASO :)

I've had that happen. Left me scarred. Every time I'm playing LASO and the ending cutscene triggers for a mission, I spam the buttons to skip it so that won't happen again.
I had that happen to me during Tip of the Spear.
Killed myself as the Flacon entered the shield. Cutscene played but I couldn't skip cuz I died... Next thing I knew... I'm doing the canyon run again, lol.
With this completed, I did all LASO playlist. Halo 2 LASO was THE hardest achievement I have ever done. There is no achievement more hardcore than this one. Still got the chills from when I saw that chevos pop up hahaha.

Restarted the mission twice as got tired of failing the jump and so tried doing the firefight and gave up after an hour. Got to the firefight section and realised i had stupidly lost the concussion rifle so restarted again. On the 3rd attempt I did the jump. I found killing the four grunts with DMR stopped me from getting shot as the jackels never came close and only used the full needle rifle I had which was more than enough ammo, just pick your shots. Thanks for the guide - never touching reach again!
Getting the needle rifle through the door with the concussion rifle was definitely one of my top 5 most difficult challenges in the entire laso run

I've been trying that triple concussion rifle shot jump for 3 hours now. The thing about having scoring on, besides showing if you indeed killed something, is that it reminds you of how much you've been failing. My score is currently on -50304 because of how many times I've been doing the Save/Quit workaround due to the fact that I'm garbage apparently
Edit: got to -60720 but finally made it. In my case I ended up shooting four times instead of three. The first time I decided to do it, I got it. Geez
This series was great to complete LASO, thanks. On my playthrough of this mission right before the final area with the Brutes my needle rifle despawned going through a door, then while juggling my plasma pistol and DRM I accidentally gave my DMR to the marine and lost so much ammo. Both times got a checkpoint before I noticed it. And before you say it, the secret DMR crate got launched off the map by one of the dropships. Let's say it was a fun hour and a half to beat this mission...

i was also having issues with that but then i decided to change my crouch behavior from toggle to hold and literally got it on my first attempt after that change.
Also you can shoot the window out you dont have to jump through it to break it
