- Decided to get off-road and explore Wales. The Trans-Cambrian way weaves it’s way across the heart of Wales. It’s around 100 miles (160 km) from Knighton, on the English border to Dovey Junction, on the Irish Sea.

Nice to see people being nice to each other
A spare gear cable fits nicely in the stem of the bike. Take the bars off and you have a nice little cubby for a cable to stash away in.
Nice video, wish we had taken some, hope you enjoyed the gear cable 😁
Toby!!!!!!!!! No way is that YOU?!!!!!!!! You are a bloody hero!!! :)
Nice one for helping👍
Yep it's me, it was no problem, glad to be of help. Did you do the 3rd day ? It's the only time we didn't see you.
Wow what a lovely ride, this is why I love cycling, the adventure and seeing beautiful places :)
Thanks
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Here in Canberra, Australia, it has been wet and freezing. Patiently waiting for Spring to come around. So nice to here about the kind people who bought you the gear cable. Small acts of kindness goes a long way. 👍👏👏👏
Doing this again in a few days. Can't wait!
Every video you make is just ace! Your smile is so infectious........always puts me in a good mood 🥰🥰 thank you xx
You are so welcome! X
@@KatieKookaburra 🥰🥰
Looks like you had great fun Katie fantastic.
Rode the Trans Cambrian Way several years ago. Brilliant trip, felt very isolated, which I loved.
Great video and looks like a fantastic time you've all had. Nice when the universe helps you out. Give it out and it comes back to you.
Super nice ride
Thank you for sharing 😊
I might have to to this ride after getting back from the Great north trail, for something a little more relaxed, looks bliss
I use a Stuff Sack as a Pillow. Put a few clothing items inside.
Excellent, how kind!
Amazing set up.
Looks like a great time! I'm sure it's a refresher to be in the countryside from riding on main roads with all sorts of traffic.
I didn’t think I realised just how good it is until you actually get off road! Proper loving it!
This is a great thread.
Will add fun and variety to your already fun and varied channel.
Good job.
We did the full trail over 3 days, i remember some of those spots you filmed. The last day into Mach had the best trails imo.
Checked that route out - looks fantastic. I know that area of mid-Wales v well, esp Elan Valley Lakes - utterly stunning and great fly fishing. Thanks for sharing.
It boosted my confidence no end to see that other people have to get off and push now and again, great video thank you
Lol…off again ❤️….Looks a great wee trip…nice to see you having so much fun with your friends too…enjoy KK…looking forward to the next episode..thanks for sharing…much better than tv.
awesome! going to be a wet season in scotland for bike packing now we can go out more
on my list for next year, thanks for that Katie
Hi Katie looks good in Wales good views love the green hills there are good people to help you you seem so happy doing the ride that's good wish l could do that thanks
Bet it was a wonderful experience 👍
Great fun, I must ride this route 😍
For some reason I was gonna skip this vid. Dang glad I didn’t. Awesome. Great day out and kindness beyond belief with the gear cable. Thanks for sharing
Really marvellous views and scenery.
Laugh out loud moment when you are doing a piece to camera and Richard is faffing (no better word) with tent poles in the background! Absolutely hilarious.
Tip: cut one end of your pillow open and stuff a few clothing items inside. Better than no pillow
Excellent video , thinking of doing it myself 👍
Awesome route, inspiring video! I carry a spare cable in my bikepacking kit along with spokes too. A lighter makes them very easy to cut. I would have given you my cable if you needed it.
Like the look of this route 👌
Just back from completing riding the Rob Roy Way & half of the West Highland Way in Scotland highly recommend 😊
Can’t top that for fun, sharing it with your mates and how about those views! Amazed at how much stuff you can carry in those compact saddle bags. Great video as usual … well done.
Thanks so much!!! :)
great video. you lot really made me laugh watching it. thanks for the share. i am considering doing this in a few weeks on my own.
I love it keep up the hard work
Great video Katie. You look great. Bikepacking is a great stuff. Wales for me is still in bucket list. I was late to enter Bear Bones 200 in Wales. Well maybe next year.
8:12 Interpretive Tent Pole Dancing - my absolute favourite type!
We set off thinking we would just do one day of the Trans-Cambrian Way, but then decided to do it all. So this is the first day… :)
New tent? How you liking the DCF material?
Looks like it'll be a good trip mostly in the middle of nowhere, love it. Those Tailfin not cheap but worth every penny.
Yeah love these types of adventure! Yep they are definitely not the cheapest but I’ve had my road version of this for years and it’s bloody brilliant! Such a great product :)
A tent is luxury! Bivvy has stealth advantages when wild camping. Can take both, alipkit hunnka is light. And adds extra warmth.
You Brits are all crazy using those Klymit X Frame style sleeping mats! Lol. Neoair anyone? 😬
What a fantastic trip. Looked amazing
Yes was once at a new premier inn on the Wirral and we were the 1st in this room and could smell the paint loved it , & I have been to a few and I would say the best so far is the one on the Albert docks Liverpool it’s so good
Oooh really??? Will have to have a gander over that way. Love Premiers!!! :)
Great vid Katie.
Good to see fellow bikers looking after members of the tribe, in their hour of need, well done that person 👏
Hope you sticked & flicked at the end ! 😁
John, it was *such* a kind thing to do! They will get karma and help when they need it :)
@@KatieKookaburra Totally agree Katie, what goes around comes around, hopefully they will be "reimbursed" by the universe at some point.
Win win situation, just a simple act of helping another biker must have given the person a buzz, especially the Kookaburra's friend ! 🙏
Hahaha, I have decided to go to Wales too! Originally had the NC500 in mind, but I feel its not a good idea right now for a host of reasons. So setting off tomorrow evening for a week away. All on road, but very much coastal riding - and to finish it off a 300km audax across North Wales a week on Saturday!
How did you get on. Not done anything like this. Am like you want to do the 500 watching video of that seems to busy.
The landscapes are beautiful, but better when you appear on them
Fab wales looks good im planning to go to Wales next year
Hi Katie, thanks for making this video. I really loved the landscapes and the positive vibes. I'd like to ask you about the Tailfin. Did you find the bike unbalanced when riding, especially uphill, with all the weight on the back? This summer I cycled from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and I had to re-route a big part of my trip from gravel to state roads because of how unstable my bags were (both from a well-known British company which name starts with R). I'm considering replacing the saddle bag with a Tailfin rack and the handlebar bag, where I put sleeping bag and mat) with one or two small Tailfin panniers. How big is the dry bag where you had the tent in? Thank you, cheers from Finland!
Watching maam nice adventure new friend ride safe God bless ❤️💕💪💪💪
Love the outro outtakes! You should do a gag reel at some point😁
Hi Katie, wondering what kind of tent you are using? Planning to go bike packing but still looking for a good tent. Thanks!
Hi Katy. Great videos as usual, missed the last 4 weeks so just caught up with them. Can I ask which Lazer helmet do you have ? Is it the century mips? You’ve probably mentioned it before but missed it….. TIA . X
That thumbnail is something else. :)
Браво!!!
I got my gravel bike today wooooop
Looks like fun, but gravel,, its funny what people call gravel, in Michigan we have 1/4 of our roads are gravel roads, many states have mostly paved roads, we a very lucky to have all these roads. We have two tracks (fire roads, to fight fires) also, (more like what you're riding) those are not maintained by the state, just roads through the country. Plenty of wild life, and rivers/lakes,, gravel bikes are great fun, they have replaced many peoples road bikes here, its much safer dodging pot holes, not cars.. We have plenty of gravel races, cross state adventures, and much more.. enjoy your gravel bikes.. I'm going for a ride today, temp now 6f, going up to 28f roads are snow packed, i'll get 20 or 30 miles, in 2 or 3 hours around Ann Arbor, Michigan area..on maintained gravel roads.
Awesome
Looks amazing and to have somewhere like Wales on your doorstep is a bonus :) What model Ribble is that....?
It’s the Gravel SL :)
How do you manage to get some sleep in a tent? I haven't gone camping for over 16 years or so. Not comfy 🥴
I love you maillot because reminds me of Milky way. Reminds me a sky full of stars. Kisses and a lot of huggs for you Katie.
Premier Inn, Lewisham, fairly central to London - last weekend for the Dunwich Dynamo.... £30 flipping bargain!
Telling you, they are the best places to stay!
Hi, another good video. Sorry if I missed it, what tent do you have please?
Z Packs :)
Thank you Katie awesome video! Take care.
Cheers John! :)
With you been in Wales how do you find places to park and ride overnight cracking video love your mates new bike
We left cars at the train station nearby.
A great advertisement for bikepacking apart from the cold beans on bread.
Ah your lovely freckles have come out 😊
Hi, very cool videos. Cool trips. What kind of camera do you use? Videos looking really fantastic.
Premier Inn is known as the Purple Palace in our group!
Ooooh yeahhh proper palace. Esp after a long ride!!!
Ah Knighton, did you get up into the Shropshire Hills? The Long Mynd is pretty spectacular.
Puncture repair kit for your pillow???🤷♂️ Great vid as always.👏👍
I have a 5yr old Gorilla tape repair on my NeoLite pad, never hurts to have a length of that wrapped around a pen or the like. Tire patch would probably last the trip at least.
If your inflatable goes down again part way through a multi day ride. You could get a spare top or something similar and roll it up to make a pillow.
Inflatible stuffs shite lol and so uncomfy
You made it on the local Facebook page last week. Top 100 ladies cyclist.
Awwwww mega!!!! Yeah I got a letter about it. Will post about that - super lovely!! Xx
can I ask where did you get your glasses??they look really cool :)
Thanks!! They are Oakley Sutro :)
What bike do you use ? Thinking of trading my mountain bike for a gravel bike
Ask #RedShift_Sports to sponsor you, Katie. Their ShockStop suspension seatpost and the ShockStop stem will add appreciable comfort to your rides both on- - and especially - off-road.
Nice vid, what tent is that you are using?
It’s the Z Packs Altaplex!! Awesome tent :)
@@KatieKookaburra thanks. Look good, I'm still looking for a cheaper version. 🤷🏼♂️
My friend used the Soloist from Alpkit :) that’s bigger and heavier but cheaper.
@@Kermit_Von_Henderson there's the 3F UL Gear Lanshan 1 too
@@Kermit_Von_Henderson Cuben/Dyneema's superb, but silnylon options like Tarptent also barely tip the scales for much less. Better still, focus on minimizing poles as they're both heavy and a pain to pack! Love my Zpacks Triplex.
"or just put it in a bin in Exeter" there's a story there but do we really want to know 🙈
So where do you carry the pizza oven? 🤔
😂😂 in the pizza shop matey
Iv just watched mrdaz ride hardest 100 ride in the like 12600 feet ryhnos pass hardnott struggle
What is your tent?
Z packs Altaplex :)
Hi
Очень красивая женщина))
Which bike are you on?
Ribble Gravel SL 😋😍
@@KatieKookaburra Oooooh, are you liking it?
I’m in Bristol can I come join u gut sometime
That's no way to treat your fans and viewers at the end there - you walked towards us and said: "there's a big piece of shit there an' all!" 😂
😂💩
I’d always help a cyclist out if needed. Always go the extra mile because you may need the help one day
Great way to be :)
First
Howdy
I think I'm in love with you 💕😜
🤍
@@KatieKookaburra you smoothy you 😊
Tolles Video, ps du sieht umwerfend aus ❤❤❤
Wow, there are a few kind people left out there. Most cyclists I see, dont even say hello back.
I like a Premier Inn too and use them for my work as they are generally an affordable safe bet. However, I had such a bad experience at Premier Inn Horsham I will look elsewhere in future. Don't ever go to that one. Awful in every way.
The most beautiful and fit body I've ever seen...you are the best katie
"Theres a big piece of shit there and all"
A mountain biker could ride those trails blind, drunk, and with 1 leg. Stop walking your bikes and ride them.
The on-screen subtitles obscure what would otherwise be great views.
Cannot watch. Sorry.
You know you can turn subtitles off, right?!
It's getting entirely out of hand with #Cock-le bombarding viewers with incessant ads - one every minute. This 6:38 long video got interrupted 6 times by their junk ads that no-one ever asked for.
