    If you don't have a Templates folder if you create a "Templates" folder in the base rfactor2 folder then launch rf2 it should download all of the PSDs for you.

    Nice tutorial! Love the fact that you can add things to the windshield like the eyes making it look like a Disney Cars kind of car 😅

      Thank you! Yes, you have some unique options on the rF2 platform when the various wildcard objects are unlocked. And now there are emissive options to add glowing effects. I'll be sure to cover this on the updated tutorial in a couple months.

    Nice. I think I need to watch it again. To understand some things better
    I tried to customize the windows without result. The window ends up as a livery.
    I did some car liveries already.
    The part of the mas files is new for me.

    • @RossAlexanderSmith
      @RossAlexanderSmith Před rokem +1

      It likely has to do with the naming convention. The modder sets the shader name as a wildcard (they name it WC[name]-in many cases it's WCWINDOWSOUT or WCWINDOWSIN but each modeler and car may be different). You then use that wildcard name in the title of the car. So if my car body is altTnadz13.dds, my windows out file should be altTnadz13windowsout.dds. Do not include any underscores unless you have one included in your carbody name (I do not recommend including underscores - the region map file is the only map that has an underscore in the name: eg altTnadz13_region.dds). Then include them all together as loose files or as a mas (mas is recommended) and it should apply automatically. If it doesn't, there's a strong possibility that the shader name is different or has somehow not been set up to be a wildcard.

      @@RossAlexanderSmith Thanks. Things are not going smoothly😅
      As always all of a sudden things change and are not how it should be.
      Spend a lot of time on a livery. Made some changes, uploaded it and all the glass was in livery colors.
      Added the window and it is clear again until I refresh the livery in the showroom. Not shure whats happening but fixed for now.
      I will keep trying.
      Cheers

    Hi, Thank you. Could you explain, how to create miniature in order to show it when selecting a car (in place of the official skin miniature)?

    • @tnadzracing
      @tnadzracing  Před rokem

      To make the icons, I use software that automatically makes it. You can find the links and instructions here forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/new-icon-creator-tutorial.65139/

    my Template folder is empty also the Steam folder on drive c, no psd files

    • @tnadzracing
      @tnadzracing  Před rokem

      Hmm, there should be at least something there if you have any official content. Have you changed your Steam folder location at all on that computer? Or your rF2 install location from default? That can sometimes cause that to happen. If not and you have official content (either DLC or through workshop) I can ask around and see who else has had similar issues.

    • @dubtube6691
      @dubtube6691 Před rokem +1

      @@tnadzracing hello, in the mean time I found the solution. The Template folder was outside of rf2 🤷I created in new one inside rFactor2 and after I started rf2 I got all the PSD files 👍

      @@dubtube6691 Ah, excellent. Yes, I've seen this same thing happen to a few people. One of the unfortunate issues that can happen within the Steam/rF2 relationship. Glad you got it sorted.

    How do I add number plates?

    • @RossAlexanderSmith
      @RossAlexanderSmith Před rokem +2

      You just include them on the base layer like any other graphic. If you want them to glow like in real life, you have to have whichever part you want to glow as green on the region map. Then you have to manually update the region json file for the green region (hopefully they make a slider in the showroom/customize menu in the future to do this):
      "emissiveColour":[
      1,
      1,
      1,
      1
      ],
      "emissiveStrength" 50
      Play around with emissiveStrength. 100 can be pretty strong, maybe too much for a number plate. I have 50 as it's a pretty decent middle ground (it's a percentage 0-100). Make sure the values above are all 1's (default I think is all 0). You can also play with these (decimal values 0-1) to create different emissive colorations but the color of the glow will be whatever the diffuse layer is when these are all 1 (i.e. if the plate is blue, it will glow blue). For reference those numbers reference the values for RGBA(lpha).

      Yes the Better UI is....better. I chose to use default for this video as it's likely more people have it. But who knows how it will look in the future after Studio 397 makes updates. Could be better or even more terrible.

    now no have template files in directory files rfactor2 any help

    • @RossAlexanderSmith
      @RossAlexanderSmith Před rokem +2

      If they were there before, it might be that they were removed by the original modder and have since disappeared after a steam update (assuming this is a workshop or DLC car). DLC files usually appear in the templates folders. If it's a community mod, sometimes those are packaged in the mas files in the Installed folder of rF2. You have to navigate to rFactor2\Installed\Vehicles\[specific car folder]\[current version folder...usually]. In that folder should be a .mas file that you can unpack with the mas utility. If the template exists in the mod, it should be in one of those mas files (where, exactly, will depend on where the modder put it if they included it at all).

    Am i crazy or does every tutorial have a different UI in game? Do they change it every few weeks or something? My UI doesnt match this and trying to follow the create skin directory part, there is no drop down and no select option. No matter what I do it forces me to change the original livery in the original livery's directory and I have no options to change using a drop down of any sorts. Pulling my hair out with this. All I want to do is add a new livery to the game not edit an existing one. And I was able once to create a second directory but it is not select able and anything i put in there does not update on the car in game, only if i edit the original car's livery in its original directory.

    • @tnadzracing
      @tnadzracing  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, they have been changing it quite rapidly. Since the new UI drop, many elements have been moved around. Now you don't have drop downs, just arrows at the top of the screen. They have a paint bucket tab when you open the customization menu that brings up the painting controls.

    • @tnadzracing
      @tnadzracing  Před 3 lety

      Yes, the newest tool uses the latest BCn versions of the file compression. You need to select BC3 format. You can also use the Intel plugin. Apparently users have reported some issues with the Nvidia one but it will still work.

    • @RossAlexanderSmith
      @RossAlexanderSmith Před 2 lety +1

      The best tool now is the Intel plugin. As Tnadz points out in the updated notes, the Nvidia plugin can add headers that cause problems. If you use Intel's plugin and use the Color + Alpha Profile with BC7 fine option for the livery and Color Profile with BC1 option for the region mask, you'll get the most optimized result. Also be sure Mip Mapping is checked (should be by default).
