Very nice video, however I have a question What is the difference between Disk and the ROM memory included into the MM? In my opinion, the MM is just RAM because in terms of speed and capacity RAM and ROM are not at the same level in the hierarchy. Thanks!!!
Locality of reference means that if a certain location in memory is accessed by a program, the chance the program will access memory near by, or in other words "locally", is high. Think about how programs are stores in memory; one instruction after another is stored in one location after another in memory and so the whole program is stored locally together. Same with arrays, each element is stored together in memory. Also the stack is in memory and when im pushing and popping from it I'm always working with memory near the head of the stack. So whatever I'm doing I'm usually accessing memory locations very close to each other. So if the program starts accessing a certain memory address we'll load the nearby memory locations into the cache as well because the chance is high we might need those locations too. Does that make sense? I hope that helped!
