I was watching this, on my old-fashioned video player the other night, for the umpteenth time. When it was first broadcast, I was in my early 20's and working as an industrial machinist for my father. It was a welcome distraction during the lunch period !

That was definitely 1980, I was at that show and remember it was nearly exactly a year to the day after I saw Queen play there in 1979 and I remember saying that at the Stewart gig, he was standing there with Harty when the curtains opened and he sang Passion
Paul Doran what was the sound like? I've been at a few shows in the Simmonscourt, last one was in 2008 when Nickelback played there and the Point/O2/3Arena had not been completed yet, and the sound was actually great.

A bit of a contradiction on his part. I had heard people say at the time he seemed smitten with Alana. No doubt he was but as you say, not for long. The marriage only lasted five years.

All in all though when I see Russell Hardy and yourself Just really talking and him getting some info out of you it makes me believe that not everybody went into the industry of journalism just to interrogate celebrities but get to know people like you as they share that info with the world 🌎. Rod was madly in love with Rachel Hunter! She will be known as the woman who broke his heart hurt his ego! He wanted to stay with her and he tried. But she was young and needed to fined herself! Penny was a rebound but i believe he does love her!

And I'm sure it was in 1980 because the R.S Band were formed by Carmine Appice on the drums (in 1981 it was Tony Brock) and Gary Grainger on solo guitar (in 1981 it was Wally Stocker and Robin Le Mesurier)
I love Rod but his choice in woman, a long list of bimbos who were only interested in his money and raising their own profile. The worst has to be Penny Lancaster. I can't stand her. The way she has accepted every TV appearance and TV show just shows where her priorities lie. Rod deserves better.
Kutta Kyte I beg to differ. If he DESERVED BETTER he would have TAKEN BETTER one of the MANY TIMES I am sure it came along! After all, no matter how famous a man (or woman) is.... Love usually only comes along once in a lifetime and twice at best. Often it doesn't come at all. Especially REAL love. Rod OBVIOUSLY feels he does NOT deserve better. High school dropout, etc. Think about it. He got what he wanted, over and over. Even in this interview she said that they talked but he just HAD to embarrass her with his next comment.

Rod’s normal speaking voice always catches me off guard. It never sounds quite how I expect it too, higher pitched with more raspiness.
