@@tylerolejnicak5481 That's right, because there are many features added in this game, it requires a lot of storage. We don't know how much total storage will be after this game is fully released.
Well, as a certified Silent Hunter andy I can certainly say, that I've been finally having decent fun with UBOAT after this update got released. Won't really be satisfied till we get proper Type IX sub lineup, but oh well. Hope that DLC devs were talking about eventually comes, because I will pay A LOT for the properly modelled Type IX. P.S. That voice log is there for a reason, since maximum realism setting doesn't have any markings on the map at all, including hydrophone and visual contacts. You only get voice reports from the crew and need to rely on them for information. Or man the stations yourself and get the information that way, works too. P.P.S. Yes, random events are there. I had a random fight happen between a bunch of guys in the torpedo room and one poor soul had broken ribs. Had to take a slight detour from my initial patrol route to drop him off. Had to deal with the instigator too.
I believe they said they are aiming for paid DLC, but I'm right there with you for Type IX, but that would require them to model ports and traffic in far more of the world's oceans.
As another Silent Hunter veteran, I was a wee little bit dissatisfied by the fact the ship that received torpedo hit, sank a bit too fast to be realistic. Also, I think there should not be just a few "candlelights" on the deck but a raging inferno when they have been intensely attacked by either torpedo or deck gun fire from an uboat.
@@Cybernaut76 Yeah, that's one of my few serious gripes. Things that are "dead"-dead sink like they had their entire bottom ripped off and things that are "not dead enough" get stuck in the most ridiculous positions without actually sinking. 1:40 hi there, when I tested the Beta the first time (in it's first iteration, since then at least two patches came out) I witnessed some of the new damage things. The Situation was as follows: I stumbled in a hunter killer group of about 5 oder 6 destroyers and Corvettes. I couldn't lose them before my O2 ran out, so I had the choice of surfacing in the middle of them or just suffocating. Surfacing sounded more fun, so I did. When the destroyers opened fire two things happened, they hit my stern and either took out my rudder or one of the props, but my Uboat was locked in a turn. The other thing was, that they hit the conning tower wich killed my skipper and yeeted him over board. (Bit sad, that the first person I see the new explosion physics on was the guy I was playing as, but well... that's war)
I suppose you could say, you had an out-of-body experience seeing your character getting melted! 😁 I know, I'll just go get my coat and hit the old dusty trail!🤪
There's a mod for SH4 called "Beneath the Med" which is pretty good, but like you, I'd like to see a dedicated British, Soviet or Japanese sub simulator. Anything but more U-boats 🙂
Yeah the brest airraid was fun to watch though the entrance is easily clipped in autopilot too. The new boats were certainly fun. The new missions like getting sick etc from what i've seen have been well implimented. A sailor who is injured in combat or an event may have a more serious injury and require time in hospital or if someone is attacked due to low dicipline you may want to courtmartial them.
as far as I know, there have been no significant efforts towards optimization. Perhaps making the game work is deemed more important than making it run.
just like the silent hunter games is there an option to choose an easy type mode when it comes to firing torpedos without having to calculate it all by yourself?
As far as the gameplay is concerned, it doesn't matter if someone has a commission - just whether or not they are considered an 'officer.' So I believe the answer is no.
My beta crashes when I try to launch the game. I guess I’ll wait until the stable version comes out. But DWS is a great studio and I think the in development version of the game is well worth the money I paid for it.
For anybody who has bought the game in the past, this will be a free update. In future, however, they have said they will have paid dlc for the type IX and XXI
I can't wait to try it out. Just downloaded the beta today. Been a few months since I've played cause I've been on a SH3 binge, and like the other guy said, I'm all about immersion which SH3 has plenty of. Needless to say, this update does look much better than the previous version. Going in the right direction, that's for sure.
I just downloaded the One Alex version, Still getting used to the controls. I'm looking forward for what you've both has to offer as I've had to mod the game extensively. The Wolf Pack game looked really good but it's lacking The universe.
@Dazza_Doo OneAlex is what I play. Took a bit to get used to, but I think that's because it's so immersive. Yeah, there are hiccups here and there, like the specific things you shouldn't do to prevent crashes and file corruption, but I have yet to run into much of those issues except a crash or maybe two in around 150hrs. Still don't know what I did to have that happen, which, in the end, is like any other game I've played and had a random crash. For the immersion, I play SH3 (OneAlex). To blast away a large amount of ships in a short time frame, I play Uboat. Until Uboat gets ahead in immersion, SH3 will still be my go-to. This is NOT a knock on Uboat. The game is still loads of fun, and I'll be starting a new campaign soon once a lot of the new betas bugs are straightened out.
I bought this game early in development and had some fun with it. What I came to realize is that: the diminished crew size mechanics impact game play in unacceptable ways.
The type 2a honestly looks like they used the extra width from the saddle tanks to expand the room inside. The engine room should definitely be tighter in spacing and more akin to the type vii engine spacing. Now, I am not sure if they made this design decision because of fears that the control room would be harder for players to maneuver around npc's or they made a mistake when "measuring" the inside diameter. One clue is that the bulkheads look more oval than they should. One other "issue" that bothers me is the lack of bulkhead doors. Love the game, just hope/wish the interior was more cramped to reflect the rl design.
They definitely made it bigger so your crew doesn't get stuck, but I would prefer if they just removed collision between crew members; that seems to me like a less egregious concession of realism.
Type IIA Type IID Type VIIB Type VIIC Type VIIC/41 Type IX is confirmed to arrive in the future, and they said there's potential for the Type XXI as well.
