      @JohnnyNatrium Před 4 lety +11

      @@malikh7761 Well cause it's one thing to be an amazingly talented card magician, but the guy, like many magicians, clearly wants to be seen as more. He gets a black belt, he now wants mafia-story style cred to be taken more seriously.
      He does what old men do. He tells tall tales. Actually it also reminds me a bit of those guys that get out of prison and actually get interviews where they talk about how they constantly karate-chopped groups of 10 people all on their own, while they were just "minding their business".
      None of these exciting stories have ever been corroborated nor would you find anything about it on his wiki or bio or anything.
      It's no surprise of course, since you couldn't find a casino where they blackjack with just one deck. And you'll notice he can 'only' do his tricks with one deck.
      A very talented man in his field, but his stories to me are just a distraction like I have to humour him by listening to them. On the other hand the stories seem to be what makes at least 90% of his fans be so passionate about him as to watch interviews. So maybe that's why he tells them.

For some reason, during your discussing, I decided to flip a card face up, and then kept face down dealing. I looked down and the card was the Ace of Spades. Wow. I told my wife and she said I should let you know. There is magic in the world. I use your techniques for bottom dealing as well and have been working on it for around 15 years. The thing I took from this video was how he said nothing is impossible which is kinda simple I know. The whole time I’m watching admiring this guy but also it shines a light on my own shortcomings and excuses I make for not going after my goals in life. When he said don’t let anyone tell you something is impossible I had a very important insight. I am the one who tells myself most that things are impossible. Not other people. I constantly have ideas I get excited about and then I squash them myself. I subtly hint them at my wife or friends and kinda hope they will be super supportive and motivate me like yeah absolutely do it! And then if they aren’t I don’t act on them... but why aren’t I already super positive and optimistic about my goals my SELF?? I need to become my biggest supporter not my biggest critique. And it all starts in my own head by having conversations with myself to set myself straight. If I want to do something it isn’t impossible at all, especially if someone else has done it already. Of course I can do it, I’ve just gotta keep doing it, persistently take actions rather than giving up before I’ve even started. I can do it, I will do it or die trying.

    I had the chance to spend two and a half hours at 1m from this gentleman while he was passing through Paris. A French magician who runs a small website had written to tell him of his admiration and Richard Turner had replied very kindly, promising to come and see him the next time he was in Paris. A few months later, he kept his promise to a young stranger and he organized an impromptu conference for a privileged few, including myself. I was passing by the magic shop by chance and I was told that he was upstairs and that I could attend his conference and I didn't take half a second to accept. We were ten or twelve and he showed us his incomparable virtuosity, of course, but also his kindness and his availability for everyone. Of course he knows his value in the magical world, but he is also keen to pass on part of his work (he didn't tell us everything, I know that, and I find that normal...) with a lot of warmth and humility. He is a living legend of our art, but he is also a very nice person and a great gentleman....
