excellent work Mato. though every time I hear that union chant "the people united will never be defeated" all I can think is the far better chant is "the people united wil never be divided" it just flows better and it makes me so mad that no march organiser has ever thought of it
Hi McCadabolg, if it scans badly that's because it's a English rendering of a Spanish-language chant popularised by the socialist movement in Chile. in my opinion 'defeated' makes a lot more sense than 'divided' as well.

Sorry you posted this, Mato. I was hoping you’d stick to chess and leave the politics out. I disagree with these protestors, but I don’t think that has anything to do with chess. Perhaps if Hamas and the Palestinians (not always sure who amongst the Palestinians are Hamas) cared as much about peace as they do about killing Jews there actually would have been peace years ago. By the way, hundreds of Israeli youngsters were ironically killed at the Nova PEACE MUSIC festival on October 7. Don’t forget that there WAS a cease fire in effect on OCTOBER 6, before Hamas invaded Israel and raped, burned alive , beheaded, killed , maimed and took hostages in the worst pogrom since the Holocaust (you might know about the Holocaust, having come from Croatia yourself, and I’m sure you’ve discussed it with your many Croatian Jewish friends….oh wait, they were mostly killed during WW II). Sorry you felt the need to post this Mato. Please stick to chess henceforth.
Intifada meant bombing civilian targets like underage discos. I understand people empathizing but most people see it as a pure victim and villain scenario, and they are misinformed at best.

Facts about Israel that the haters of Israel don’t like:
1. Israel became a state in 1312 B.C.E., two millennia before Islam.
2. Arab refugees from Israel began calling themselves “Palestinians” in 1967, two decades after (modern) Israeli statehood in 1948.
3. After conquering the land in 1272 B.C.E., Jews ruled it for a thousand years and maintained a continuous presence there for 3,300 years.
4. The only Arab rule following conquest in 633 B.C.E. lasted just 22 years.
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem was the Jewish capital. It was never the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even under Jordanian rule,(East) Jerusalem was not made the capital, and no Arab leader came to visit it.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the bible, but not once is it mentioned in the Qur’an.
7. King David founded Jerusalem; Mohammed never set foot in it.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem; Muslims face Mecca. If they are between the two cities, Muslims pray facing Mecca, with their backs to Jerusalem.
9. In 1948, Arab leaders urged their people to leave, promising to cleanse the land of Jewish presence. 68% of them fled without ever setting eyes on an Israeli soldier.
10. Virtually the entire Jewish population of Muslim countries had to flee as the result of violence and pogroms.
11. Some 630,000 Arabs left Israel in 1948, while close to a million Jews were forced to leave the Muslim countries.
12. In spite of the vast territories at their disposal, Arab refugees were deliberately prevented from assimilating into their host countries. Of 100 million refugees following World War 2, they are the only group tohave never integrated with their co-religionists. Most of the Jewish refugees from Europe and Arab lands were settled in Israel,a country no larger than New Jersey, USA.
13. There are 22 Muslim countries, not counting Palestine. There is only one Jewish state.
14. Fatah and Hamas constitutions still call for the destruction of Israel.
Israel ceded most of the west bank and all of Gaza to the Palestinian authority, and even provided it with arms.
15. During the Jordanian occupation, Jewish holy sites were vandalized and were off limits to Jews. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian holy sites are accessible to all faiths.
16. Out of 175 United Nations Security Council resolutions up to1990, 97 were against Israel; out of 690 general assembly resolutions,429 were against Israel.
17. The U.N. was silent when the Jordanians destroyed 58 synagogues in the old city of Jerusalem. It remained silent while Jordan systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, and it remained silent when Jordan enforced apartheid laws preventing Jews from accessing the temple mount and western wall.
18. Arabs started all five wars against Israel, and lost every one of them.

1. Before 1947 Israel did not exitst.
2. The name Palestine dates back to ancient times. It comes from the Greek Παλαιστίνη, which was translated from that language into Latin: Palaestina. The Arabic name is فلسطين, which can be transliterated as Filasṭīn, Falasṭīn or Filisṭīn. Palestine refers back to the Philistines, a people who probably settled in what was then Canaan around the 13th century BCE befoe the Israelites arrived in Canaan.
You are almost correct,
1. Felestines, were sea-going, red-headed people of Greek origin. Some scholars say that they were partially responsible for the Bronze Age collapse. Felestines were decimated by the Assyrian invasion and finished off as a nation by Alexander the Great leaving no trace in modern history- neither language nor writing.
2. Today's "Palestinians" identify themselves as Arabs. The origin of Arab people is the Arab peninsula. Arabs have neither genetic nor cultural connection to ancient Felestins.
3. In 6th century, Arabs conquered Christian Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and all of North Africa by force. Arabs are invaders and occupiers and colonizers of all of these countries.
For generations, Arabs committed genocide against the indigenous population of those countries by either slaying or enslaving men, taking multiple wives, and forcing conversion to Islam. Today the absolute majority of people of these countries identify themselves as Arabs. The genocide done by Arabs is nearly complete.
4. Of all of the lost nations only the Spanish and Jewish people had succeeded in reviving their statehood.

I agree. And add the following facts:
1.- In 1948, the Palestinians refused to build their State in accordance with the UN decision;
2.- Israel is the only democracy in the region where everyone (Jews, Arabs, Christians, Atheists, etc.) can live in peace with each other, and where there are free elections and the rule of law is respected;
3.- Hamas murdered all members of the Palestinian Authority after winning the elections in 2005;
4.- The "genocide" that Hamas says exists in the Gaza Strip is a strange genocide since the population increases (and does not decrease as in a genocide!);
5.- There are no Jews (nor homosexuals) living in the Gaza Strip, because they would be executed;
6.- Hamas uses money from international humanitarian donations to buy and produce weapons, build tunnels and attack Israel;
7.- Hamas uses the population of the Gaza Strip as a "human shield", as a terrorist group;
8.- There have been no elections in the Gaza Strip since 2005 because Hamas does not want them;
9.- There are no elections in the West Bank because Hamas would win them, revealing the fact that the Palestinian Authority only exists in the imagination of Westerners and not on the ground;
10.- Hamas takes hostages, kills civilians, rapes women and beheads and burns babies, as the facts prove by the attack on October 7, 2023 against Israel.
Very interesting stuff. I don't know much about Jewish history, except that Jews originated in Canaan so are the indigenous people of the land. What do you mean when you say they conqured it? AFAIK, that's purely a biblical story and contradicted by archeology.
Mato, is your view that Hamas should surrender and hand back the hostages?

@@negotiater1 1200 innocent people murdered by Hamas in Isreal, including old people, women, and babies. There are two sides to be sensitive about.
@bluefin.64 Incorrect, most of those killed were killed by israhell and there are plenty of survivor accounts to back this up. Also most of the killed were Israeli military so they are fair game. Israhell says that all Palestinians are Hamas, well nearly all isrealis have to do military service so they are all idf militants and fair game. Lastly there would have been no 7th October if it wasn’t for Israeli brutal terrorist occupation for the last 75 odd years.
