- ... So it's been uhhh almost a year since I've watched the second Jurassic Park, so this is a long time coming, and so HERE IT IS! I FINALLY WATCHED JP3! And as expected, the movie is entertaining, dumb fun. Most humans in this franchise continue to be dumb as hell but hey, it's always fun to watch dinosaurs munch on folks. Hope you enjoy!

That movie is basically everything from the two first books that didn’t make it in the first two movies. The idea that the visitor Center was just for show and the real science was on the other island, the river chase, the aviary, etc
She was dead ass friendship goals the way she got the Navy and Coast Guard to pull up!!!
Movie Suggestion: Cheesey Cop Movie - Low Down Dirty Shame
This film is best known for one of the most spectacular creative miscalculations in movie history. The thinking was that after two movies with the T-Rex as the biggest, baddest dinosaur, audiences would be ready for something new, and thus we got the Spinosaurus in this film. But it turned out they weren't, and in fact were furious at being expected to cast their beloved T-Rex aside for this pretender to the throne, the worst part of all coming when it beats a T-Rex up with comical ease, like they were trying way too hard to say "This dino is yesterday's news, say hello to the new badass dino we're sure you'll all adore even more." It was actually later revealed the fight was supposed to be longer with the T-Rex making a much less embarrassing showing, but severe budget issues hit and this is what they decided they could most afford to cut down.
I really like Spinosaurus. Tyrannosaurus was always misnamed. Allosaurus is correct.
@@wadeheaton123 Are you conflating Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus (they are very different animals), saying Tyrannosaurus doesn't deserve its name (it very much does), or saying the JP Tyrannosaur is as fragile as an Allosaur (which...has issues on several levels)?
Yeah, but the Spinosaurus didn't look very good either. Very robotic in movement and lack of good tension building to instill fear of it.
Not to mention, in real life would've never happened, since Rex and Spino didn't live in the same place or time as each other. Not to mention the woefully incorrect power balance in the fight... T. rex still is the animal with the strongest bite force to ever exist, have a Spino break out of it's hold with such ease was laughable to say the least.
Fun factish, it's implied by how close it was from the nest that the guy got his legs torn off by the raptors hence he was missing his lower half by how high they were shown to be able to jump.

Excellent insight and reactions to this film, Sam!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽After the original film, expectations were very high for the sequels. While they were somewhat disappointing at the time of release, looking at them now on their own, they are entertaining. Whenever you get a chance the "Jurassic World" films are worth a watch. They have the benefit of more modern CGI, and more recent actors.

This movie is a very clear step down for the series, but at the same time it's hard to get that angry at it. In a way that's very hard to explain, it just feels like the filmmakers are saying to us "Yeah, this is a cheap cash-grab. You know it and we know it. So why don't you just kill 90 minutes with us and maybe you'll have some dumb fun." That's as opposed to the Jurassic World films, which are so much worse for trying to be big important movies and failing spectacularly.
While the new films didn't do a good job and failed hard with what they tried to do, I do appreciate that they tried to be more then the other sequels.
At least 3 still had an animatronic for it's main dinosaur (and two raptors, and the leftover male trex from 2) too... Part of the reason why the cgi in World especially doesn't look quite right is because they had no real world counterpart that the special effects had to match. There were the 4 raptor heads and the apatosaurus (?) head and that was it.
The JW films aren't trying to be big important movies. The filmmakers know it's still dumb fun as JP3 but don't won't to say it.
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was the worst of them all if you ask me. Can remember how we were back in 2001 in the cinema, that was already something special, but then cinema was also still something special :P
The dinosaur that came when they were searching for the Satellitar phone in the Spinosaurus poop is an Adult Ceratosaurus Nasicornis. :)
So for those of us that had read the book before the first movie, this film FINALLY gave us pterodactyl. I went to see the original film so hyped for the aviary scene but it didn't make it in. This film finally gave me the pterodactyl scene, so I live this one for that reason alone.
How did the pterodactyl feed if they were stuck in the 'aviary', though?

You're right. The first movie is in a realm all its own. I think something different with the first movie was that, overall, the main characters were intelligent. Flawed but intelligent. The rest of the franchise is not so. They can be entertaining but not epic like the original.
I love how bird-like the Isla Sorna Raptors are, the males having the quills and brighter colours and the females having a different more dull colouration just like birds in real life.
Have you seen that Apple+ TV documentary yet? The raptors look AMAZING! so bird-like. Feathers, wings...gorgeous!

It was really fun watching your reactions to this lol! Had me cracking up at times. 😛 Ok fine, this movie wasn't as well done as it probably could've been but being that AG was back, who cares? As you said, it was just fun and everyone enjoys seeing the Dinosaurs! I know I DO!! And the Raptors are one of my faves. One of my favorite parts is when they get trapped and need to give the eggs back. The nervous way Tea' Leoni gives them back and the Top Raptor gives her the hiss- stare down was freaking awesome and showed who was in power in that moment. Poor T-Rex, always seems to loose to animals who actually have longer more mobile arms.😖
And no matter what some might say- JWorld 1 and 2 are good, my fave so far is JW 1. 😀 Enjoy your weekend!

My takeaway from this one was “Sam Neill is super hot in this one” and so I have definitely watched it more than once and only for that reason.

I love the raptors in this. And many hated the Spinosaurus, i think he is super cute and he was terified about that weird sound thing, from is stomach, and he couldn't hunt because all other dinos were alarmed by this. His stresslevel was really high.
It always felt like a B-Movie to be honest, but i love dinos ^^

When I see somebody taking out their phone in cinemas; during a movie to 'just to send a quick message' , I want to throw my popcorn at them. The light on the screen is distracting! TURN YOUR PHONE OFF! You are NOT that important! If it's an emergency: they're already dead.

Jurassic Park III has some goofy sh*t in it but I still have a fun time whenever I sit down and watch it. It’s the first film I ever went to go see twice when it came out. In my opinion it’s the SECOND worst film in this franchise but a lot of people say this one is the worst and while I won’t agree with that, I won’t disagree with anyone who feels like that either.
I suspect that a lot of people just held on to their feelings from seeing this movie when the first two were all we had to compare it to.
@@Rmlohner yeah honestly. it definitely has a completely different vibe from the first two for sure. Spielberg has a unique tone to his film which is why he’s, y’know, Spielberg. JPIII looks almost like a straight to DVD film at some points among other issues but it’s never what I’d consider “bad”.

Hi Sam👋 I just finished watching your reaction to Jurassic Park 3 I enjoyed every single moment of your reaction to this movie and again my favorite part of this movie is when the spinosaurus breaks through the fence like the spinosaurus is like oh well I can't get these humans because of the big fence in front of me I give up oh wait I forgot I'm the biggest predator dinosaur in the world I could just break my way through or I was not finish with you humans or did you really think that a giant fence would keep me away from you that's my guess of what the spinosaurus could have said.

The whole river attack scene is so stupid to me. The movie/characters treat it like Ellie will save them if only Grant can get through to her. Like... If you're about to die, why would you be like "Come on, pick up!! I'm going under the water and dying in a few seconds, hurry and pick up!! Save us!!!"
I always imagine Ellie, casually calling in the special ops, with her kid on her hip, throwing another load in the dishwasher, checking her agenda, preparing for her meeting at the office and having her husband on hold on the other line, to remind him-yet again-to NOT forget to buy some milk before he gets home.

Tia Leoni's character pretty much single-handedly harpooned this movie. It has some nice ideas and the birdcage sequence is cool, but overall it just doesn't hold up anywhere near to the original.
Unfortunately, T. rex had binocular vision, so it would see you whether you were moving or not.
Yeah, T-Rex’s eyesight rivaled that of hawks, falcons, and eagles. Not only could it see you even if you were standing still, it could see you from at least a mile away.
Next up JurassicWorld? I love that one!
This is a book series and a lot of people don't realize that. There are several directions that deviate from the books, but they follow the story basically. It's got a plot
I think a lot of people know. It's just that more people have seen the movies rather than reading the books. I was the same with Lord of the Rings. Took me ages to finally read the books after falling in love with the movie

Tea Leoni is such a good actress. She can play annoying without even trying and still come across as sympathetic. Her freaking out when she sees the half eaten corpse of her husband/boyfriend was tragic and funny at the same time.

Mornin' sweetie! There are things about this movie I really liked and others not so much. I loved the cast, I really have a thing for some Tea. W Macy so steady as usual and "evening shade's" Mr Stiles. Love that "Humans are going to human". Love the birdcage. We should have gotten it earlier. Love that Ellie married well and Billy didn't get digested. Didn't like that Amanda would be okay with her son being a Dino lure. Didn't like Alan speaking raptor on his flute. Okay maybe he's a "Reptar "savant. Didn't care for Spiny. Disappointed that Ellie couldn't convince Alan that kids are fine and she married outside the biz. Didn't like that there just happened to be a Marine assault ship just hours away from the forbidden zone. That being said, I enjoyed this so much more than #2 and almost as much as #1. A great way to spend a couple hours. Nice watch Sam.

Hey. i have an Idea you should consider. As soon as you see the first movie that's named Jurassic world. you should try the Netflix Series called camp Cretaceous before continuing with the other Jurassic world movies. It's an amazing show and it would build around that movie and give you ideas about the other movies in the future. i already mentioned it a lil before but i didn't suggest explicitly when you should watch the show. What do you think?

At first everyone in the theater thought it was the final chapter in the JURASSIC PARK series....until 2015, we were given JURASSIC WORLD, 2018, JURASSIC WORLD 2: FALLEN KINGDOM and the upcoming JURASSIC WORLD 3 DOMINION.

If I can fault the World movies for anything, it's that in an effort to avoid being criticized for overdesigning their hybrids, they criminally UNDERdesigned them.

*Jurassic Park III* may be my least favorite film of this franchise, but I have no hate for this film.
I suspect that the word *RESTRICTED* shown on the screen was meant for the film's MPAA rating. Despite that it's rated PG-13, it still feels like an R-rated movie, hence the possible connection I mentioned. In fact, when I first saw the movie and the *RESTRICTED* word came up, it made me truly believe it was rated R at the time.

Yes, I will readily admit it's the weakest of the movies so far, and there are more things in this one that bother me than in the others (no way that fish eater's snout could break that rediculously muscled neck), but I always thought it was a fun movie and a lot better than people give it credit for.
FUN FACT: Spinosaurus has long been a very fragmentary and ill-known dinosaur since the original found specimin was destroyed when the German museum it was in was bombed in WWII. It's only recently that we know really anything more than we did around the time this movie came out. We now know Spinosaurus was adapted to a semiaquatic lifestyle, with abnormally small hind legs for a creature its size and a large paddle fin on its tail.
@Michael Smollin Everyone didn't "magically" die on the boat. The Rex got loose and ate everyone and the last "survivor" closed the cargo hold on him with his dying breath. It maybe wasn't explained to the audience as well as it could have been, but it absolutely makes perfect sense given what we were shown.
And I don't know what you mean by "environmental destruction is saving it", because I didn't get that message at all. If you're referring to our heroes letting the dinos InGen captured loose at the camp, then I have to say they still made the morally right decision there despite it making things harder in the short term after the Rex attack (which wouldn't have happened if Roland hadn't messed with the baby whatever your feelings on the wisdom of Sarah and Nick rescuing it, so InGen is ultimately still at fault).
@Michael Smollin If you look closely, you will see:
1. That the captain's wheel house - the *only* indoor area of the ship other than the hold that we ever see or hear about - had been smashed apart on the side opposite the door we see everyone looking at the wheel through. The door which opens up to the deck, by the by.
2. The cage structure the Rex had been shown secured in when we last saw it on the island ripped apart on the deck of the ship.
Combine this with what we know about what they drugged the Rex with and it paints a clear picture. They had the Rex on deck, they misadministered the drug, the Rex broke free in a frenzy and took out everyone on deck until it was lured into the hold and the injured crewman died closing it.
Even if Raptors had been the original plan (EDIT: which they were not, that rumor was debunked a while back apparently), removing them did not make the scene make less sense with the evidence provided (in fact it's good they got rid of a potential loose end).
And now that I have corrected the misinformation, I agree with moving on, as you are free to like or dislike whatever strikes your fancy.
@Michael Smollin I'm correct because I'm doing the research right now to make sure I am.
1. Spielberg never said anything about raptors, nor did he apologize for the boat specifically. These are rumors that have been debunked. He did say that he was dissatisfied with sequels he's made in general, especially Lost World, because he thinks his overconfidence made them inferior because he didn't feel he worked hard enough, but an artist's opinion of their own art is not at all proof of their value either way.
2. Likewise, people laughing and making jokes at a thing does not necessarily mean that they are worthy of said ridicule or that the jokes made are good or correct jokes. People make jokes based on incorrect premeses all the time, history is full of comedy that ages poorly due to understandings changing. It proves little to nothing about the true quality of a piece of art, only how it was recieved.
3. The fact that large ships are often built with hallways is 110% irrelevant to this conversation, as hallways were never shown or mentioned in this film in the context of the events that took place on deck. Only the deck, cargo hold, and on-deck wheelhouse were shown and mentioned, and they are the only relevant parts of the ship to both the film and this discussion of it. And your obsession with hallways feels really weird.
4. I did admit at the start that I think it could have been explained better. There was even a scene cut that Phil Tippet recently put the storyboards of up for auction which shows the initial escape at sea (involving a crane and two bulldozers on deck that are trying to keep the contained Rex in his cage but the tweaked-out Rex used to his advantage). So it makes sense that people got confused, and in that respect you could call it a flaw of the film. But once you know what actually happened it fits perfectly (provided you haven't already dug your heels in about hating it and ignoring the facts of course).
5. While it doesn't matter and proves nothing of the veracity of what I'm daying, for the record this isn't "me vs everyone in the world". This is the widely accepted and reported version of events by those with more than a cursory knowledge of the films.
At this point I really am done this time. I've given you all the evidence, and you're free to your opinion on the film as a whole.
EDIT: I misremembered one thing: you don't really see the smashed parts of the wheelhouse, but in barely audible background dialogue "danage to roof and walls" is mentioned.
@@HobGungan I still think the ship stuff is reality bending level stupid, you don't seem to understand how many people are on those things, how many jobs and facilities there are on one. How did the crew eat? The Rex got into the gally? but we didn't see the gally so the crew did not eat? same thing for the engine room, did it not have an engine cuz I didn't see it? and if you wanted the Rex to get out and attack the bridge, the people would see that and run below deck, it is surrounded in windows, and it would probably just fall overboard immediately when the ship tilts a bit. I am not sure now if that is bunk about the raptors or not, but if you google this there are overwhelming amounts of people that think this is dumb and that is the film's fault. I don't see this kind of debate about shit in the 3rd one or in a good movie of some kind, it is just a flat film, with the same level of dino misinformation as the others.
but i mean in the lost world you got:
1. magic useless gun problem again with the poison dart gun (not the .480)
2. safety glass, which all back and front windshields are made of doesn't break like plate glass when a Julian Moore is on it
3. 80lbs girl kicks raptor out of 3 story window then drops from the bar and lands on her feet like spiderman
4. High hide has giant Dragon Ball Z tree that is the biggest one by far on the whole island it hangs from
5. Julian Moore is the single most ignorant animal behavior expert ever
6. a flaming jeep gets tossed so far from an explosion without being obliterated that only superman could do it
7. the boat thing
8. There was literally no one in San Diago cop or civilian who had a gun and fired at the Rex, only the sleeping dart gun, Dinos are not bullet proof, only ideas are
I mean this film is totally bonkers, and the same guy who wrote Jurassic park wrote also Congo, the dude just makes bonkers stuff that has very little realism. for the 3rd one we got:
1. Magic useless .50 cal guns
2. Bad reason to be there
3. Pterosaurs can't pick stuff up
4. the guys running Dino-Sore on the boat magically died from a Predator using it's camo
5. Stupid raptor dream
6. Stupid blond lady that I would have iced without consulting anyone (same goes for Vince Vahn in Lost World)
that list to me is not as over the top insane, but still bad as hell. and all the movies have inaccurate dinos. To me lost world has to be the worst, but hey what do I know?

I stopped liking the Jurassic Park movies starting with this one, because the dinosaurs slowly stopped acting like animals.
Animals are boring. Monsters are exciting. Can you imagine the actors interacting with 'realistic' raptors? It would be a role reversal. Humans running after skittish raptors
This movie gets a lot of shit and honestly, in my opinion, it deserves allll the shit lol. My problem with it was the continuity. Where was the Spinosaurus in Lost World? Yes it's a large island, but in Lost World they brought jeeps and helicopters and equipment and tons of men. They said in this movie that the Spinosaurus wasn't on InGen's list of dinosaurs, and that tracks. Not upset about that. Definitely a company that would make other dinos off the record. My problem with the spino was that he can clearly swim. He can go anywhere, yet he stays at the island. Also, the couple was so annoying. From the cringe way she yelled about not leaving her and him miraculously swimming around her to come up behind her and deliver his line, to the "i dare them to nest in enid, ok" was too much. And when Grant said "it's a bird cage" and she said "FOR WHAT?".
.... you're on a dinosaur island. In a giant bird cage built for giant creatures. Safe to say there are flying dinosaurs in there. And how are the pterodactyls eating? If the cage has been closed this whole time, do they just lie in wait for a dinosaur small enough to crawl into the cage?
But again, that's just my opinion. Many people disagree with my ranking, and that's ok. It's the fun of having a big franchise like this. For me, i'd say from favorite to least, it would be:

Jurassic World
Lost World
Fallen Kingdon
Jurassic Park 3
This is the kinda movie where thinking is discouraged. You watch and enjoy the ride...if it's enjoyable to you, that is😁
