i'll never be tired to say it, Ripley is the ideal of a female action lead role. There is not one single moment in these movies where you'd doubt her professionalism, her ambitions, and her toughness. Nothing forced behind it, she's just got it in her. Sigourney Weaver will always be in my memory for that. My favourite actress if I think about it now

Agreed! Both Ripley and the Alien were female mommas protecting and avenging their young. Gotta love it!!! 🥰
Ripley lost her real daughter and had motherly instincts toward Neut, who even calls her mommy at the end.
Without speaking the same language Ripley and the alien understood each other when Ripley used the blowtorch near the eggs. The alien queen told her offspring to back off Ripley in order to protect the eggs. But then Ripley torched them all anyway which enraged the queen, which is why she came after her.
Two badass mommas going toe to toe!! Yeah!!

Paul Reiser doesn't get enough credit for this role, where he has the extremely hard job of having to be so likeable in his early scenes that you believe Ripley wouldn't be immediately suspicious of anyone from the Company after what happened in the last movie, and just as hardassed as she is toward Bishop, and then make it feel natural when he transitions to his true ruthless personality. It also made for a pretty fun story arc in Stranger Things where you're deliberately set up to think his character is going to be just like Burke, but he ultimately turns out to be a pretty okay guy.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Ellen Ripley is how you do a truly strong female character. She isn't an overpowered person who can punch through walls and crack xenomorphs' backs over her knee. She's tenacious, clever and has a few special skills which kick in at the exact right moment. Over everything else, she's a _mother._ She lost her baby, but she would be damned if she lost her adopted child.
That's what made the final fight so intense. It was mother against mother, and no matter what happened, one of them wasn't leaving it alive, and they both knew it.
Heed these words: Forget any other _Alien_ films exist after this one. You'll end up frustrated and angry if you choose to go further.
Okay, _maybe_ watch _Alien Resurrection_ with the idea that it's a dark comedy.

Here's the scenes added for the special addition (though it's been at least two decades since I saw the theatrical version so there may be some stuff I forgot wasn't in it):
    - Ripley learning about her daughter. This is easily the most damaging cut, since without it there isn't ANY direct reference to her daughter left, and thus how she takes on Newt as a substitute for that connection.
-Newt's family finding the alien ship. In the theatrical cut we don't see anything of LV-426 until the marines get there.
-The fakeout with the lab mice. This is definitely the most superfluous bit and probably could have remained cut with no one caring.
-The entire scene with the gun turrets, including the bit of dialogue in the planning scene that mentions them.
-Ripley and Hicks exchanging first names before she heads off to get Newt. Another case of the theatrical cut losing a meaningful character moment in favor of focusing just on the action.

Visiting the museum in Austria of H.R Giger is something I must recommend. This design and the aesthetics of these creatures is outstanding.

I saw this in a theater (in San Francisco, on Market Street, for a dollar!) years before I saw the first one. Not knowing what to expect I was totally blown away! After the movie was finished I couldn't even get out of my seat, so I was forced to watch it again (not that I was averse to doing so). It seems to get better every time I see it! 👍

Speaking of which, 'The Rock' would make for a great reaction vid, just saying!! Much love, Simon xxx

By the way, Hicks is in the first Terminator movie. The android and Vasquez are in the second Terminator movie. But I bet you don't recognize Vasquez. In this movie she is a bad ass Hispanic soldier. In T2 she is a Jewish step mom. LOL. Oh, and of course Bill Paxton, the dude who played Hudson became the biggest star of all from these movies. Much bigger than Sigourney Weaver. Sadly, he died a few years back.

This reaction was everything I was wanting to see! Awesome!
About the further sequels in the Alien franchise...
You're going to see a lot of hate directed at them.
My recommendation is that you at least react to Alien 3. It's different in many ways, but it's stunning too! They kept the plot well under wraps with no leaks and I was out of my seat in the theater screaming at the plot turn towards the end! Plus a lot of opportunities for your classic turn of phrase "Oh HELL NO!" 😂
The 4th one is the weakest one of the franchise, you *could* skip it. It has some truly fantastic hilarious lines, and *one* scene that for me was totally worth the price of admission, 😳 OMG. So, eh. It's a choice.
The two prequels, are breathtaking on a grand scale, I recommend them, but they are very different.
And then there's AVP. Aliens vs Predators. You might need to watch/react to the Predator movies for it. It's a fun, worthy entry to both franchises, with a lovely powerful protagonist, who's worth watching completely for herself. I enjoyed it.
The first two, Alien and Aliens are iconic. Alien 3 approaches that level. So, yeah, I recommend it.
The main point is watch them to decide for yourself - you may hate or love them, but you should get to decide. 😊
Btw, you need T-shirt merchandise that has a t-shirt with the tag line
"Oh HELL NO!" on it! 🤣 It's so you!
Thank you for a fantastic reaction! You're one of my favorites! I look forward to the day I can afford to do patrons, I'll be diving for yours first thing!!! 🥰

@@OGBReacts If you plan on watching Alien 3, recommend you watch the Directors Cut. It's one of those rare occasions where the changes made in the directors cut make it a much better film. The cinematic version is bad, the directors cut is good.
Also definately second Cameron5043 about Prometheus and Alien Covenant. They're both flawed movies, sure....but they're intelligent and interesting and very much worth a look.

@@misscee6629 - I liked Alien vs. Predator too. I didn't have internet yet at the time, so when I saw quite a few years later, that it was apparently considered a "bad movie" online, I was genuinely surprised. I mean... It's not fully a Predator movie and not fully an Alien movie, but that just makes it that much more impressive, that they were able to make it as well as they did (in my opinion). Seriously, a merger of two franchises like that is unlikely to please fans of either one, so the odds are stacked against it, lol.

according to the first film it takes 7 months in sleep to get there, So you are looking at 6 months if burker send the colonists out and they lost the transmission, Since newt is still young, so i would say 4 or 5 months she has been living on her own. in military units there is a lot of banter, nothing serious, just tension release, thats why they are so off to outsiders but internally its a bonding situation

The Xenomorph Queen is the largest puppet in the history of film. It's about 20 feet long and 14 tall, and is hung from a crane (part of the reason the head is so big is to hide the cables). It requires 12-16 people to operate the creature, including two stuntmen INSIDE the queen doing the arms.

If you decide to watch Alien 3, I recommend the extended cut over the original, as it adds more context. Unfortunately, David Fincher really got the short end of the stick directing a movie that didn't have a completed script and that had tons of pressure to "get it done faster and cheaper" from the studio.
