French here, i am also horrfied to see what happened and very sad for this, i am a Roman Catholic and felt offensed by this depiction at the olympic overture.
This is very heart breaking to see how deep in aposthasy France nowaday is, when it used to be the Eldest Daughter of the Church.
I am also sad to see people litteraly hating my country because of it when it is only a leftist minority who made this "show".
But i pray that, just like when Peter denied Jesus three times, my poeple will come back Home, because if God himself wanted France to continue to exit, by sending St Jeanne d'Arc, it is because there is an unknown reason behind that.

Here in France, it seems like you cannot express your grief for this type of insult against your own religion. I said to some friends how I felt about it and I instantly got called a "transphobic and fatphobic fanatic". Religions and especially Christianity in this country are constantly spat on...
This happens in America too. If you say anything negative about homosexual behavior, you are immediately branded a hater or a homophobe. It's their way of shutting down civil discourse. So far I only see American Catholics (Clergymen and Lays alike) express strong objections (to this 'Outright Blasphemy') under the same ground, that Shows used in this Opening Ceremony is an objection to the Christ to the core. those of other Churches should follow suits soon, perferably immediately.

I think it’s hypocritical to religious leaders decrying the opening ceremony but then talking about watching the Olympics. Boycotting watching the Olympics does affect their pocketbooks by cutting ratings and tickets sales. I care about the athletes but not watching will not stop their ability to compete.

I quit watching Rick and Morty because they mocked God over a year ago. I can definitely give up the Olympics till they give a proper apology, admission that they did what we all know they did, and fire/step down of entire Olympic committee that gave the ok. I saw the mockery right after coming home from Mass and receiving Holy Communion. I spent the next day churning out letters of protest, one of which has since been published in the paper. Then the other night, I was assaulted by a bizarre, evil, unearthly and sickening nightmare that didn't feel like a normal dream. I've seen a lot of horror in my working life but this dream was worse than all of it put together. I can't shake the feeling it was a demonic attack for speaking out and I'm not the kind of person to normally revert to such assumptions. If it was, good, it means the enemy is desperate. We all also need to pray for the poor kids who were put up there with the drag show and for their physical and spiritual welfare.

Get Rosary. I am not an Atheist maybe or maybe I am, but my brain cannot manage to believe anything or anyone blindly. Yet I can trust. Rosary did help me first of all at least not to make silly rush decisions I would regret later. It is a nice form of meditation and may help you work on being a better person as well.. Try it. It doesn't cost that much in case it won't work for you but it might become your best friend if it would...

Instead, the result might be some other event that you won't see as connected to the mocking (think of societies that decay and die once they lose sight of God).
Or, ultimately, the result could be presented to the person at their judgement, which of course happens right after the moment of death.

Loosing views = loosing commercial air time and products not purchased. Every viewer or loss of revenue (tv, commercials, sponsors, paraphernalia, hotels/tickets, etc) adds up.

On a hopeful note, France had a record high of adult baptisms this year. The number increases every year. It’s a phenomena that even the bishops aren’t sure how to explain. They say it isn’t through their efforts of evangelization. The expression they used is “we opened the door and they’re coming through the windows”. Mostly young adults who were taught to pray as children by their grandmothers, not their parents. ❤
Glad to hear! But Is it statistically significant though? And what are the raw figures ? Sometimes just saying 30% increase doesn’t mean much if the figures aren’t that large or there’s high variance in the population data.
@@javierclement3047 The actual number isn’t that high, around 12 000. It’s just comparatively to past adult baptisms, the increase is really significant. It’s a positive trend and that is to be celebrated, I think. And these people are of the age to have children. So one can project with cautious optimism. :)
@@Laurefin Is it a trend, or is it an aftereffect of Covid lockdowns? Shut down the churches for a year, and the next year baptisms can be expected to increase, including adult baptisms.

The "it's a reference to Feast of the Gods painting" fails on 1 major fundamental point...that painting itself was a blasphemy when it was painted. It also gave rise to the nonsense that the Catholic Church was rebranded Greco-Roman religion.

So yes, even if you based it 100% on that painting, it is still blasphemy of Christ.

I will disagree. I think people can represent pagan mythology without necessarily endorsing it as a theology and understanding it’s great story telling structure. For instance, i love the Iliad/Troy and Hercules, but obviously don’t believe in the literal mythology.

It's an homage to a painting reflecting a celebration in Greek mythology. It's literally titled "The Feast of the Gods". What's wrong with reflecting art? Why would it be worse if it was supposed to be "The Last Supper"?

I feel like anyone who hasn't been "bitten" by the woke/ politically correct bug was more or less appalled at what happened. I've been brought up as a Christian, but I've never been a religious person, more spiritual than anything else. I do believe that people should be able to express themselves freely. However, one minority acting like they represent 90% of humanity and mocking others' freedom is a no-go. The fact that there was a kid dancing amongst the depravity happening on that bridge is truly horrific.
It was not based on a "Greek painting" or anything else Greek. They portrayed supposedly Dionysus "god" of chaos, debauchery and wine etc. However same mythological creature is also called Pan, the hooved one with a goat's legs and who is associated with the devil. Today, we covered the opening ceremony in one of my university lectures. The lecturer opened with, "Who feels strongly about the opening ceremony?"
I'm happy to say, that as a result of these kinds of videos that have been released all over since the ceremony, I could have the confidence in standing up for my faith and religion, and to have a conversation generate from it.
One of the objections that were brought up was, "Christians are meant to practice tolerance."
I could not help but think of Rev. Calvin's point, "tolerance and niceness are no virtues."
I hope my story, as with this video, inspires us Christians to take courage and make a stand. To love the Lord our God, and to love our neighbor.

Sounds like the typical university lecture hall class discussion that passes for higher education these days at a premium cost. “Who feels strongly?” is a dumb question that provokes less thought and more emotion. Get a room full of 20 year olds spouting off about a topic so they’ll just form a justification around it, driven by emotion and not principles. I do not miss those class discussions as the always left wing instructor always steered the conversation in a left wing direction with the vast majority of students also being left wing, all singling out the one or two Christian students. As a Protestant I had concerns about this terminology, since it seems to imply Mary is causally prior to God or that she is the mother of the entire trinity, or even that she must be eternal in order to have produced an eternal being. I’ve come around by reducing the term to its bare essentials, though the implications are still huge.
Mary is God’s mother. Yes, she was chosen by the Father for this purpose, and yes, the Father could have theoretically chosen anyone else, but He didn’t. He chose Mary, who gave birth to Jesus, who is God. Therefore, mother of God.
