The Hudson Force 50 was used in the movie 50 FIRST DATES. Captain Ron was filmed using a 1978 Formosa 51 Cutter Rigged Ketch. Very similar design as the majority of cruising yachts back then all came out of the same TAIWANESE SHIPYARDS with the same carpenters building the interiors. All the Formosa & Hudson designs leak water from there decks (Unless recently refit) so they also earned the nick name "Leaky Teaky's". There is a couple sailing one right now on CZcams (SV ZERO).

I grew up on a boat similar to this one. It was so fun and nostalgic to see this. Everything is the same but in different place then the one I lived on. So cool!

I recall seeing these at the shows back in the late 70's & early 80's. They were big, heavy, solid boats. I loved them in all their gleaming teak glory but boy, all that wood requires lots of work. Looks like this one needs lots of work but assuming their is no major hidden damage, it's a good boat to put the effort into. They are nice, classic looking yachts.

Nice overview of details but I don't have a clue as to how the boat looks on the inside overall. A wide angle lens and shot down the center would do wonders.

Upon winning the power ball I would buy a Hylas 56 for serious cruising but I would absolutely own this for the pure sailing ambiance and showing off to my friends. (Having won the Power Ball I am sure I would have lots of friends.) It is a BEAUTIFUL boat!

All she needs is edison generators and dynamos upgrade and update. The keeling is very likely off keel and needs to corrected.. still good at any price.

What's the price? How is it equipped, radar, water maker and so on? What major maintenance has been done in all of the years? Is there a recent survey? How old are the sails and the rigging? This video tells a potential buyer nothing.

Aft deck, why don't sales people learn more about the proper terminology and sail lingo. It would help sell the boat if they seem an Able Body Seaman VS. just a sale. Caaaamon...so much history out there...

You need to take a class on how to shoot a video. I can't see the boat because every shoot is within inches of the object. one thing i could tell was that all the wood needs work. There is skill in presentation. You don't just take a phone and shoot.

No. Just no. This is ridiculous. You can replace that boat from pulpit to stern for 200k. Watch the channel Sailing Zero- they sail one around the world for definitely less than $20k/year, all in.
