    Can’t wait to get ours. And a road trip to woodinville to boot. My wife and I have camped for many years. From tent camping at Baker Lake campground in WA to using a motor home in the Black Hills of SD. Addressing the issue of the heaters we found that a small ceramic heater for about $20 fits the bill. They are quiet and efficient and they heat very well. Looking forward to May!!

      @@OFFTHEGRIND We don’t have the Mammoth, I was just commenting on a trailer vs tent in general. It took us a bit of time to adjust to pulling one in the tighter areas but it has been worth it. Seriously thinking about upgrading to the mission summit next year.

    What a great video and content it is great to see you David & Micheal having such a great time watching both of your videos I have to say seeing you light that jet bolt right under the paper towels kind of made me step back but ever thing was fine I can see A lot of potential in that trailer‘s future I was think for heat in your trailer I would look in too radiant heat like to stuff that they make to keep tile floor warm in the winter time or attaching a heated seat kit to like a piece of tile to get the radiant heat just a thought. But what a nice trailer and the kitchen kick out is great Glad you both had some time to just chill in the woods have a good one

    Great video. Congratulations on your new set up. Now you’ll have to plan some really epic meals since you’ve got the full kitchen set up. One thing you may want to consider for sleeping warmer is a 12v electric blanket, I’m sure there’s a 12v socket inside or plug it into a power station. Also I’m sure it’s on your list but you’ll probably want to mount a solar panel on top for extended stays. And to continue rambling there’s a video on the Where’s Wiseman channel (fellow Washingtonians) where they use a small heater plugged into a Bluetti power station to heat their Tear Drop trailer a similar set up may work for you. Tear Drop is a smaller space but if you dedicate a portable power station to a tiny heater and use the house battery to run an electric blanky I bet you’ll be snuggly warm.

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  Před 2 lety

      Yes, there is 12v plugs in there, plus there is an inverter so I can run 110v house outlet stuff as well. The trailer actually comes with a solar panel. I am considering mounting it, but I camp in the trees a lot of the time, so being able to move it around and chase the sun I think is more valuable in my specific situation. I really think the heated blanket may be the best solution for me. I do DEFINITELY need to get a new sleeping bag though. It's rated for 40* but that is not a comfortable 40.

    • @scottalpine
      @scottalpine Před 2 lety

      @@OFFTHEGRIND that’s awesome that it came with a solar panel you could make your own frame for it and store it on the roof then move it around for the best light. I use a flexible panel for charging my power stations and it works awesome, lot cheaper than buying the Jackery or Bluetti panels and it’s made to leave outside. I assume your panel is a hard panel could probably get some aluminum 8020 and make a frame with adjustable legs that stow away for roof storage…. Could even make a CZcams video on it. Definitely get a better sleeping bag though or get a sleeping quilt to toss on the bag when it’s cold. Might want to get some foam board or tiles for the floor too to insulate even more.

    Great video! That Mammoth trailer makes a pretty strong argument at the price. It's a bummer that it doesn't offer a diesel heater. That would be SO nice for our cold PNW nights. Especially surprising since it's a local company. Still though, it looks like a SUPER cool trailer.

    Awesome thanks for sharing. Trailers are a great option in my opinion because it fixes the issue I guarantee 99.9% of overlanders have, they’re all over payload capacity. A trailer takes all the weight away from the vehicle, people put too much crap in the bed or on their vehicle that in an accident an insurance agent would be happy to point that out that it was unsafe being over the vehicle payload capacity and deny you payment.

    Having just ordered one, Mammoth misses the mark in mktg. Competitors priced much much higher, have a nice list of standard features. Wonder why propane tank seems to not be plumbed to backend? Are there screens on doors? No mention. One video says 20 gal water another 22gals. They don’t talk about lights, etc

      I completely agree. I don’t know why they don’t have a list of features and specs on the website. I think they're smart to take the low key approach, especially for now. With supplies being at best delayed to arrival being uncertain.
      They're selling a new product, sorting out processes and trying to develop a customer base. Consumers are largely fickle and unforgiving and I've seen lots of good cottage industry folks get ruined and give up because demand outpaced production. I'm also on the wait list and hoping the timeline is still good for our unit. In the mean time I'm happy to live vicariously through those that have theirs!
