    Many people seem not to understand why the current draw increased. You shouldnt forcefully increase the current but you can set the voltage. The current draw increased because the resistance of thicker wire is lower and it wont overhear as much

      More the turns higher the voltage in you have to supply if you use thick wire for example 21 gauge means 14 turns are enough as the thinner wire takes less current that thicker the wire higher the current load
      as thick wire is being used it takes more current take a 12cm copper wire thick wire and thin wire of same length and connect same voltage and measure the using a clamp meter you notice that the thin wire takes less current and thick wire takes more current
      Thin wires have higher resistance than thick wires because in thin wires electrons are less and in thick wire there are more electrons so they have less resistance

    I did this in the 1960’s to slot car motors. Improve it further by expoxying the windings and then balancing the rotor.

    It's well known knowledge that the armature with higher number of poles is slower than the one with lowest number of poles. But the higher number of poles produce more torque. So it's depend of the application what you use the motors for. For small light fan the 3 poles with higher rpm is better. But for some heavy load like grinder then the higher number of poles with higher torque is needed. In the market for 12v dc motors, they usually sell high speed motors with 3 poles and high torque motors with 5 or 6 poles. Just use the appropriate motors for your projects.

    Rather changing the armature,change the field magnets or use powerful magnets which will increase speed and torque too but if you change the thickness it's inductance and backup will reduce which gradually affect its torque.

    I'd assume the grinding on the one side was for balancing. Need to re-balance after re-coiling.

      well, you can skip this step, the mass of the wire would be the same in all sides. normaly you can do it without worrying if it could vibrate.

    On 5000 rpm current flow was 0.3 and in 1A current flow it increased to 12000+

    If it’s just one constant strand of wire, wouldn’t the entire copper loop just be activated all at once? You’d think each section would need its own copper loop….someone please explain why it’s all just one long strand of wire

      Yeah at first he supplied 350 mA and after rewinding he increased the current to 1.1 amps which is almost 3 times more ...

      Actually the thinner wire takes less current that thicker the wire higher the current load

      The amp in this case has nothing to do with the speed increase, it's the lowering of turns of cobber.

      Amine Cerneaux, actually if u compare a NiMH battery with only 25c discharge current, to a Lipo battery with 40c discharge current, the Lipo gets a lot more rpm and torque out of the dc motor, I know from experience with Rc cars

      dexi rentz Voltage = current * resistance. If you keep the same voltage and decrease resistance (0.8mm has less resistance than 0.5mm), you will get an increase in current.

    Well winding a stator with fewer, thicker windings is one thing , but you will not have much (long) fun with this motor without rebalancing the hole armature . The bearings will significantly wear much faster due to exessive vibrations.

      it's fair bcz if you use more thick wire , the iron core of the rotor saturates more stronger than before with stronger field around it.

    Check required power for both RPM, with old winding you can achieve same RPM if you can provide required current 12v 1A

    Remove the commutator and try to double wind it. Once its dne, put the commutator back ang solder it to the terminals of the commutator
