Hard work is important, but without making sure the work you're putting in is high quality, you'll struggle to make the progress you could be making. In my opinion, being able to consistently put in high quality work first starts with making sure that your workout are structured in an efficient way and of course making sure that your schedule is designed to get the most out of each workout.

Hey Ethan, I did exactly what you said and made a whole workout. I'm an amazing shooter (which is why I'm on the court) but I'm not as good at finishing and dribbling, so here's the workout for me and anyone with this problem: Workout: focusing on moves to finishes
Workout: focusing on moves to finishes
    Dribble: warmup
    -100 dribbles in grass
    -50 low pounds each hand
-50 pounds at knee each hand
-25 pounds at hip each hand
    -20 pound, cuff each hand
-20 pounds at shoulder each hand
-V dribbles Side to side (make ball pause in air) x10 each hand
-Same thing to the fron x10 each hand
-in and out between x20 each hand’-cross between x20
Ball rolls x30 butt down chest up
-wide ground touches: 50 crosses, 40 betweens, 40 behinds
-height speed changes 30 reps while walking:
    -Between, behind
    -cross between
    -in and out cross
    -behind between
    -behind cross
    -behind behind
    -behind the legs cross
    -v dribble between
-through the legs while walking x40
    -same thing backwards x40
-cuff dribbles (in and out of the cone) - 30 each hand
-same thing but over both cones x20 each hand
-in and out between behind x50
    Finishing series:
    -start at elbow
Isolation series: start at elbow, do one of the finishes x3 shots each elbow
    -layup, each hand
    -inside hand layup
    -reverse layup with inside hand
    -reverse layup with outside hand
-hop step 8 feet away, jump, extend ball way in front of you and layup it up
    -same thing with inside hand
-be squared with backboard, outside hand finish
-put inside hand up (to block defender) finish with outside hand
    -floater
    -runner
“Main event”: working on moves into a finish
Start a few feet away, pound, overhead gather into a hop step and finish 5 each side
Same thing without a hop step 5 each side
Start a few feet away, pound, cuff basketball into a reverse finish 4 each side, each hand
Same thing, but put it as low as possible 4 each side, each hand
Start at top of the key, do a move, after the last dribble, bring ball high, finish with inside hand x4 each way
Same thing, but bring ball high over head with one hand and finish with a reverse x3 each side each hand
Same thing but put ball low x3 each side, each hand
Same thing with a cuff dribble x3 each side each hand
Start at free throw line, go euro step floaters x4 each way (optional)
Isolation (to build off of moves): spin ball from top of key to wing, catch it do one of the combo moves, into a move, into a finish - do each move and finish for each combo, both wings. (example you do a crossover, between, into a over the head gather and a left hand layup)
(combo moves) crossover between, jab negative step, between between, rip through, in and out wrap behind
(Moves) over the head gather, low gather, cuff
(Finishes) inside hand finish, outside hand finish, floater, reverse layup with outside hand, reverse layup with inside hand
Catch and shoot: make 2 in a row from both corners, wings, and top of key (start under hoop)
    - Spin ball to 15 ft away from basket, catch and make a jump shot
    -10 free throws
    - Spin ball to 15 ft away from basket, jab step, dribble and pull up jumper
    -10 free throws
    - Spin ball to 15 ft away from basket, shot pump fake, dribble and pull up jumper
    -10 free throws
    - Spin ball from basket outside the 3 point line, catch and make a jump shot
    -20 free throws
but I would like to hear from you Ethan, if you would change anything (imma do this workout right now matter of fact)

Is that all for one day? If so I think you should really focus on each skill individually and really work it to the core because if you do it all together like this its not very effective and all the skills will only be half mastered and overtime in the higher levels that really separates the good players for the great players.

@@delan_lan I agree with Mr. Clutch. Take that current schedule and break it down in 3-4 workouts. You don’t even necessarily need to do every workout every day. It could be workouts 1 and 2 and day 1 and then workouts 3 and 4 on day 2. You’ll still be getting a lot of reps but you can devote more attention to each individual area.

    Coach I’m 13 years old and 5’6 140
I’m a point guard and can dribble and shoot just as good as anybody probably a lil better than guards my age. I’m always the fastest and most athletic kid on my team. Also being taller I get more boards then other guards. If you were working with me what is essential for me being a big guard and striving as a big guard. Also how can implement these things into my workouts.
PS: More background on me is I’m always the top player on my team and is usually the top 5 tallest guys on my team ( usually kids who are my age who I play against are like 5’2) thx 🙏🏽

    • @VisionDrivenBasketball
      @VisionDrivenBasketball  Před 3 lety +5

Don’t be fooled by being the tallest now. Chances are in high school you won’t be as far ahead. So continue to develop those essential guard/wing skills. Shooting off the catch and off the dribble from mid and 3, ball handling, scoring from the wing and the top of the key, develop some separation moves, etc. that’s what I’d advise
