This Is How I Would Become An INSANE Ball Handler (From 0 To 100)

- I made a ton of mistakes as a player when it came to improving my ball handling. Despite putting in a lot of time and effort, I never saw great results that transferred to the game and because of that, I always lacked confidence and success as a ball handler. Knowing what I know now as a trainer and coach for the past 5+ years, here is exactly what I would do if I could go back in time and do it all over again and I'm confident that these things would have completely transformed my ability, confidence, and success as a ball handler.

Footwork really is the foundational skill for any sport
1000%
Where that free footwork drill routine as promised though? :
There’s a reason here in NYC kids have the best handles in the world. We freestyle Rucker Park all day
Learning ball handling in basketball is like learning to shred on a guitar. If you don’t know how to shred and you try to learn by playing as fast as you can, your playing will just be sloppy and you won’t actually learn the muscle memory to do it correctly. Same goes for ball handling, you have to start slow and take it slow, so you learn it the right way (and don’t have to go through the extra trouble of un-learning the wrong way).
When i walked to school i would dribble a ball. Going downhill and on a sidewalk as well as going back home. That helped alot 😂😂
That’s valid. The best way to get good at something is to do it.
ya gotta get outside & walk, jog, run with the ball. Just dribble around your neighborhood for 30 minutes a day. Incorporate dribbling with your cardio. You will become very comfortable with the ball after a while.
Doing cardio with the ball helped me a ton. Makes you faster with the ball and comfortable at higher speeds

Amazing vid man! Could you pls make similar videos about how you would train your shooting and passing too if you could go back in time to when you were young
I was a D1 point guard at Stanford and one of the best ball handlers to come out of nyc (very few drills). Once you understand the concepts and then get a feel for the ball you should be able to dribble. Sounds like as a kid you never learned or truly understood the concept of ball-handling.
Definitely, didn’t understand the it until after I stopped playing and I really dove into it. Have spent a lot of time around high level coaches and players the past few years, it wasn’t until then that I realized what’s truly behind becoming a great ball handler. I didn’t have coaches growing up who got it and could help me, so I had to figure it out. Definitely ain’t NYC where I’m from haha
I appreciate you making these videos so much you have no idea how much these help me❤
Love to hear that! Happy to help!
yo, this is great content! super casual and valuable insights - would love to see or hear a recap at the end of the video of all your different tips! (tips 1,2,3 called out on a screen or something similar)
It'd be helpful on rewatches or just noting down (working on #1, 2, 3, etc). appreciate you!
Noted! Thanks for watching!
Much value found in this video. Subscribed.
Appreciate that!!
I'd say being a Ball Handler has nothing to do with being great at dribbling. You can have simple yet effective dribbling but you know how to get to spots or to beat your Defender.
I think you’re partly right. You don’t need to have a crazy deep bag full of “moves”. But you do need have a certain level of ability to control the ball, especially when you’re moving at fast speeds. That will get rid of the limiting factors that would potentially prevent you from being able to get to spots or beat your defender.
@@VisionDrivenBasketball i totally agree.
I've come to the same epiphanies regarding the importance of body movement & footwork in coordination with ball handling.
Your presentation is very comprehensive & well packaged. Well done!
Super important! Thanks for watching!
Earned a subscriber! Crazy excellent work
Thank you for the support🙌🏽glad you found it helpful!
Great video, I wish I heard this 30 years ago when I was developing as a ball player.
You and me both! Thanks for watching!
this shit helps me a lottt dawgg big thanks for keeping it real, i can see it youre being the same kid that finds it hard and had no clue what actually works in the workout to improve it.
I’ve been through it man, hopefully I can help others get through it quicker than I did! Glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Well done & very useful
Thanks for watching!
I love the ideas here. Are *all* of these concepts and specific drills included in your Elite Ball Handling course?
Yes, all of these concepts and drills are in Elite Ball Handling 2.0!
This is awesome
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
I was waiting for you to mention footwork. Footwork is the key to good dribbling. The goal is to get your body from point a to b. If the feet are efficient the dribbling will come with work. You don't even need to be a prolific dribbler if you have good footwork.
It's almost like boxing, if your feet aren't under you can't throw fast punches.
Well said!
Thanks for the vid. Btw my coach said to dribble on the wall 15 minutes per day while variating the direction of the ball. Do you think its a good drill in the house?
No I think there’s a lot better things you could do for 15 minutes. I’ve got a couple of shorter ball handling workouts on my channel if you go to the ball handling playlist if you need ideas!
Hi coach
I thought you were gonna say ball footl-ing. Great video. I feel the same way.
Do you have any advice for helping me dribble at 6'4. I've been played as a center most of my life and I want to play as a guard now but getting low and dribbling feels unnatural to me.
Good question! I’ll make a video going deeper into that because there’s a few things you can do but here’s a workout that specifically works on becoming less stiff with the ball and becoming shiftier/playing lower: czcams.com/video/JdFxgliCZIQ/video.htmlsi=_81H7NZPx4EIWVvX
Work on that flexibility and get those knees bent. That’s the key to getting and staying low
Is changing drills every 2 weeks too much? Because I don't want my body to get comfortable with only one set of drills
No I wouldn’t say there’s anything wrong with that. It’s good to challenge yourself, ultimately that’s what matters most whether your change drills or not
Pound dribbles and static ball handling is essential for young players just to build strength. But after you get strong enough it becomes less valuable.
I’d agree with that
Thought you said the program was free
One of them is, this is the link: www.visiondrivenbball.com/pl/176508
Where’s the free ball handling program? The elite ball handling cost money for me
This is the free program: www.visiondrivenbball.com/pl/176508
It’s more than just ball handling but it focuses on many of the things we go through in this video!
Or maybe all the work you put in early got you better over time
Sure, doing something will get better results than doing nothing. But I could have had significantly better/quicker results if my approach and understanding would have been different. You can dig a hole with your hands, but it’s much easier and faster with a shovel.
Early👍
Jesus loves you but do you love Him? Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. He says if you love Him you will keep His commandments
Nah, fuck 'im
@@certified_boogeymannah, ur in trouble...
How to get around with very tough defender or close body guard defender?
Amazing vid man! Could you pls make similar videos about how you would train your shooting and passing too if you could go back in time to when you were young
Absolutely!! Thanks for watching!
