In this exclusive conversation with head of TED Chris Anderson, Musk details how the radical new innovations he's working on -- Tesla's intelligent humanoid robot Optimus, SpaceX's otherworldly Starship and Neuralink's brain-machine interfaces, among others -- could help maximize the lifespan of humanity and create a world where goods and services are abundant and accessible for all. By creating fear one can control a populace easier.

I am 52 yrs old. Listening to the future that Elon will accomplish, makes me sad that I will not live long enough to see the full realization of his endeavors.
At the same time, I am VERY HAPPY that I am alive to witness the accomplishments he has already achieved and will achieve in my life time.
If I live long enough to witness the first human mission to mars, I will have died a happier man!
This man makes me want to live longer!
BTW, I was born in 1969. The year we landed on the moon. Maybe I will die the year we land on mars?
thats my same tought! this kind of guys makes me want to live longer also!
Elon is 50 and I'm sure he wants to see life on Mars before he dies too
He's just as old as you so I'm sure he is doing the same as you. The best way to help would be go work for him!
Well said, don't forget Elon is only 50 (I'm 59) and he definitely shares those feelings. He will be doing what he can to speed things up.
MY PLAN, I WILL PASS IN A FUTURE YEAR AND GO TO HEAVEN, IN HEAVEN I PLAN ON FILLING OUT THE PROPER PAPER WORK AND CLASSES AND BE BORN ON MARS, TO GIVE ELON A HELPING HAND
This is the best Elon Musk interview I’ve seen. Really nicely done.
I think so too
If you like this one, you should check out the one he did with Don Lemon.
This interview was amazing and inspiring. How can people not see this man has a point?
They are jealous and afraid of him because he is more intelligent than them.
He actually has many points but obviously most people only see the surface... and care about how rich he has got and the stock of Tesla so.... Anyway he is probably one of the few Billionaires that actually care about the future of humanity and is effectively working everyday for making it better 💪💪🦾🤖
@@IrkusLecuona exactly 💯😁👌
You are in a cult
@@IrkusLecuona - Jealous? A lot probably do.
Afraid? Most likely no, not the average person (as the average person has more other day to day worries about).
At his game level? Maybe some would be affraid of his investments or something like that, but at the billionare level of playing field - you usually don't see people that are affraid of each other. Compete with each other, or cooperate? Definitely.
And there is no question about it, that Elon Musk is one of the people who are a driving force behind some of the technologies, and also early space exploration.
"If you want the future to be good, you must make it so; take action to make it so, and it will be. " 1:06:00 to the end. I love this man for restoring my faith in humanity.
Exactly this. So simple, yet so sincere and profound. Made me tear up.
You do know that Musk says that while not caring about safety issues in Tesla factories causing their Tesla workers to lose their limbs permanently or not carrying out chemical safety classes which caused many workers to lose their eye sight permanently?
And yes the kicker is, Musk tried to hide the worker injuries are still continuing to this day despite Musk saying something like he supports free speech.
What faith in humanity was there when it requires sacrificing people?
Chills!!

Watching this video, I have to say that Chris Anderson is an outstanding and amazing interviewer. All questions were totally on point and not only interesting but also different to what we have heard before from Elon. Throughout the interview, one could see the underlying structure and guidance which made it easy to listen and follow along. And one thing that especially stood out: He rarely interrupted but still managed to get all the necessary information while not digressing from the main topics.
I watched a 1 hour long interview, enjoyed every second and am stunned afterwards to a point where not writing a comment simply isn't a possibility. That's what interviews should be like. That's quality.
I agree with Elon. I really hope we will be able to solve and cure mental health disorders and I hope we will be able understand more about the brain and understand more about the mind in five to ten years (thats my estimate). This interview gives me hope and I hope Neuralink will be safe and I hope it will help people who are going through tough times. This was a great interview. Thank you Elon and I hope you succeed!
Such a horrible interviewer, rude at some questions, didn’t let Elon conclude his line of thinking many times and tried to teach Elon about managing his business at some point.

Honestly this is hands down one of the best discussions I’ve seen in a long time!

"If you want the future to be good, you must make it so." I love that quote.
You can't change the future, you can only change the present reality. Buying electric cars could lead to a sustainable and better future, but it might as well do the opposite. There is no way to be sure. Electric cars could for example lead to a massive increase in traffic because suddenly driving around your car is almost free using solar power and that increase in traffic would produce more secondary CO2 than it saves by ditching gasoline, like fixing roads (asphalt -> super high in CO2), building more bridges (concrete -> super high in CO2), wear and production of tires, etc etc. IMO the best way to fix the future is a drastic decrease in human population to levels where we can live in symbiosis with nature and let everyone enjoy a happy and healthy life. We just don't fulfill the requirements to be an advanced species so long there is unnecessary suffering. If we can't fix our most basic of needs for all, why would you want to spread such a toxic culture into space? We're not worthy (yet). We have to grow up first and then join the galactic community. One step at a time.. they're probably watching us and there is no way they would let a species loose into space that is at the verge of using nuclear bombs against each other. How stupid is that.. and if you believe you're safe from earthlings on Mars you're totally wrong. Nukes can reach Mars without a problem. In fact I'm sure some countries will setup spy satellites around Mars the moment it is colonized and then claim they are building weapons of mass destruction to justify an invasion.
Make it so number 1
I loved that one too. It's enough for have an important and useful life meaning
How about in order for the future to be good, the rich must pay their taxes just like everybody else, and they must stop corrupting politics all around the world. How about we start with those fundamentals instead of making a billionaire into some kind of holy deity.
but he's making the future bad, so what he says is irrelivant, focus on his actions, not his empty words
I am enjoying your interview. So interesting Elon. You are a very positive person. I find you an amazing person.

What about admitting energy through the air like Tesla had spoken about so many years ago at 432 Hz
Either pulling the energy directly from the atmosphere and re-distributing it as a pulse through the air that can then charge batteries indefinitely as storage and for usage
My experience with FSD Beta in a 2020 Model 3 Performance is that it's still not perfect but it's good enough to do about 80% of my driving. I still have to pay attention and take over sometimes but most of the issues are just annoying rather than dangerous. Some would be dangerous if I completely stopped paying attention. It's not good on undivided highways. In that situation, tends to think that a new lane of traffic is opening up every time a turn lane appears so it still changes into it even though I'm trying to continue straight. Until a couple of months ago it took a lot of unnecessary turns. That's rare now. Sometimes it's too cautious so it has trouble catching an exit in time or is slow to leave a stop so I have to hit the accelerator a little. It shows extreme promise and does seem to be on the path to be dramatically better than any other similar product available. The fact that it will work anywhere without premappng or other conditions for use (like the Mercedes system that's called Level 3 but can only drive on premapped highways up to 45 miles per hour) is huge. It should also be noted that an idiot tried to force his way in front of me going left as I went straight 2 months ago and caused some pretty bad front end damage. It took until a week ago for Tesla to take my car in for repair but my car continued to drive very well with Full Self Driving anyway. I happened to not be using FSD when I was hit. I was crossing a divided highway and I was already almost to the divider looking right to monitor the opposite side of traffic when he slammed into me. I would have noticed him in time to stop if I hadn't been looking right so had I been using FSD the accident would have likely been averted since it would have seen him making his moronic move in time to stop.

I gota say... He's talks so simply. He logically guides you through his reasoning... Other CEOs usually just say generic bullet points about their products. He's explains his fundamental logic.
autistics generally have considered logic in their reasoning
5-10% any buyers to buy NOW? who and for how much?
Metallurgy do you manipulate strengths or cold roll
I love his closing line, "Take action to make it good, and then it will be."
So many people get this wrong. We're in a generation full of people who complain about everything as if it's beyond them, rather than forging themselves into the solution to the problems that keep them up at night. I wish more people followed this advice. Be the change you want to see in the world. It's so simple. Stop whining and get to work.
👆 THIS 💯
Yep
And Elon knows this. Hence why he has zeroed in one one of our main achilles heels at the moment; Twitter. This emerging technology and it's tendency to cater to the worst of human nature is preventing us from even having reasonable conversations about these solutions.
Easier said and done but so true
There's such a thing as ignorance. People are constantly taking action, but they're not taking the right ones because idiots keep giving stupid advice.
What a gift is to be able to live life at the same age of this human.
Cult behavior detected.
I brought this up in your last interview together... You can look it up.
When you're talking about batteries. Tell the whole story! End-to-end! What does a battery cost, what's its LIFE EXPECTANCY, how is it created, WILL IT CATCH ON FIRE, how much does it weigh and does that affect the life of your tires and other factors?
excellent interview, learnt a lot.
One of the best Elon Musk interviews ever. The interviewer asked great pointed questions. He definitely did all his homework.
I second that, this was a fantastic interview with him.
I agree. Chris Anderson btw, is the founder of Ted. :D
Bro, this guy interviewing him is a legend in his own right.
its about fear and respect. the people respect elon must thus he has no fear in the public space. bill on the other hand...

I think the most profound things he said in this interview[49:06] was the move away from representational democracy to a direct democracy, having laws that are short enough for people to understand, and making it harder to make laws than to get rid of laws. Excellent interview!
Wait!
So he has a thought where in democracy, should be much harder to create a law than harder to get rid of a law.
So, making law should be hard and get rid of one should be easier.
Not equal harder?
Direct democracy not representative, so the people would vote straight for a law to pass or not.
How about people with different IQ?
Make simple laws so people can understand them. So what about loopholes if the law is not well detailed.
Making simple law, is that means people in Mars will be people who won't reason well in order to give them easy to understand laws.
@@mylifewithaspiehubby yes Elon musk is goat
@@mylifewithaspiehubby I don't think you need laws to be ridiculously complex, like they are now, to avoid loopholes.
Also, there's plenty of loopholes now even though the laws are ridiculously complex.
@Tay Zk
I agree with you, today's laws are very scramble. I just took his thoughts of having a short simple law literal so I get concerned about a well detailed law is not short even to cover everything and no leave space for loopholes.
Representational democracy is certainly horrible. But, direct democracy is worse. The problem is that any time you allow any group of people to control the lives of another group of people (even by a Kumbaya voting process), you inevitably end up with despotism, slavery and death.
The only solution is a culture that legitimizes opting out of ANY political jurisdiction at ANY time. The only legitimate laws require unanimous consent. If 99 out of 100 people vote for something, it should only apply the 99, and the 1 outlier should be free to opt out.
A thoughtful person asking thoughtful questions.......... thank you
Thank you very much for providing Chinese subtitles, this is a good idea, please continue....🙋♂️🙋♀️🙋
Great interview !
Hope all your dreams come through.
I think this is the best interview with Elon we have on record. Thanks Chris - you nailed it for TED.
Chris was the worst interviewer. Constant interruptions. Watch him slowly fade away during Elon's answers as his mind wonders to the next question.
@@anypercentdeathless I agree with the interruptions and the quick question jumps, but I think it may have been due to time constraints. Although it seemed Elon was ready to go much more in depth with some of his answers.
“If you care about the reality of goodness rather than the perception of it.” Exactly what I’ve been trying to argue for two years now.

thank you!!! and thank god we live in this era along side Mr. Elon Musk

I think this was an incredible interview. So much value for 1 hour. Intellectually dense and yet easy to consume.
Everything you do is amazing and exciting I can't wait to join you
What a great interview, so happy to be able to watch and gain knowledge from Mr. Musk. I’m excited for the future, and hope many others take note of your knowledgeable information for all the potential new opportunities. Thank you Elon for all that you do and I’m excited for what the future will bring. Have a great one.

The only person that makes you excited about the future!
So true, I ask people who doesn't follow Elon Musk what they are excited about for the future, they reply nothing and has a pessimistic view on life.
I used to be the same until I start following Elon's companies.
Haha so true. We are so emboriled in the current affairs that I almost see nothing about how exciting future can be, but all the pessimistic outcomes.
and then, Skynet came online
🌱SO TRUE🌱
If this clown makes you excited of the future, then you have no personal ambitions.
One of the best if not the best Elon interview to date. You really pulled out Elon’s visions of the future in a vivid way. Well done!
Hands down best interview from Elon to date! This here is a GEM
TED thank you!
Agreed, overthinking is a procrastination, and timing is in question!
In a world torn by conflict, chaos, deceit, and turmoil; this interview gives me great excitement about the future. I hope to still be alive to see a civilization living in abundance.
As long as the current System doesn't change, there will be no "abundance". In a scarcity driven economy there will never be such thing as abundance.
Elon is the poster child for the widest wealth gap in modern history. He actively dodges paying taxes to make sure the status quo of having a few obscenely wealthy vs. the billions of those in the poor and middle class will be maintained.
@@DirtFlyer you're completely right.
You loony dude
@@DirtFlyer I'm so sick of this narrative. Watch the video again. Now explain how holding billions is the same as consuming them. He doesn't even own a house. He doesn't live a luxurious lifestyle. Musk has done more philanthropy in the past year than you'll do in a lifetime. Get off your high horse.
Never thought I could just sit on my chair and watch an interview for a whole hour without being distracted. This was incredibly interesting.

Elon is a perfect example for never giving up on ur dreams,he just constantly being consistent with his dreams as well as managing side by side other activities, hats off to that Elon
Respect for Chris Anderson, he makes the talk pretty interesting, absolutely great job.

Great interview and inspirational final. Thanks a lot great person 🤍
This has to be the best interview of Elon. And much to the credit of the interviewer for asking great questions and being educated on Elon's endeavours.
Great and inspiring interview with an interviewer that goes beyond asking the obvious questions. Showing these things to my kids to inspire them,
‘If you want a good future, go out and make it so.’ A very simple but very powerful and actionable message.
Thanks Elon for providing hope and inspiration to humanity!
Impressive mind. Impressive follow through. 👍
What senses are used in interpretating the screen
Wow, this interview was amazing! Chris asking so many interesting and pointed questions, it felt like 15 minutes watching all of this.
This is one of the better interviews I have ever heard, the interviewer had educated, thought provoking questions, that weren’t trying to provoke a response, but rather intellectually stimulating content. I wish all interviews were approached similarly.
💐💜 great speech and debate and happiness love forever 💜💐
Great interview !l love him !
Elon is intelligent always documented ,is the best !
Congratulations !
We need to literally protect Elon at any and all cost
He should have Secret Service protection.
To think that he followed Amber Heard home in the past…who is choosing girlfriends and wives for him? Someone needs to protect him, I am sure.
He was severely bully as a child. He needed protection then.
Maybe you could apply to be in Elon's brown shirt squad that silence all of his critics!! Heil Elon!!
