I just bought two abandoned 92' talons, my first 1g after owning 2 2g's previously. I've been binge watching your videos lately and can't wait to tear into my project! your deserve many more views and subscribers!
Thanks Riley for the kind words. I appreciate the views and happy you enjoy the vids!
Great work as always.. thanks for the detailed instructions man.
As always, you are very welcome!
When I log on my PC and I get on CZcams first thing I see is your video. As always, great video
Thanks you. Happy to know you enjoy the videos!
I would like to see more Lotus content.
Me too! Coming soon hopefully. After months of waiting for parts to come they are finally in transit to me as I type this comment.
Awesome work as usual! I recently re-sealed the rear differential in my conquest tsi and used the exact same rear differential fluid. It is great stuff. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Greg for watching the vids and sharing to everyone what fluid you use. It definitely has a high recommendation out there.
i wish there was a helicoil fix for when my rear won't stop leaking. Good job, the foundation of yet another reliable DSM is being laid down. They are such great reliable cars when just a bit of minimal maintenance is done.
It’s coming along. And yes, if they are treated right then they will treat you right too!
Thanks for another great video. Agree that draining fluids typically leads to a mess of some sort. Brake fluid being the worst. Merry Christmas Dean!
Yes, brake fluid is so nasty and likes to remove paint if not cleaned up.
Have a wonderful holiday time as well and thanks so much for the support this year.
that is awesome to watch you do the helicoil, I have to do the same for my head, I accidently had my torque wrench set to foot pounds instead of inch pounds and spun two studs... I was all WTH with the first one and then tried again, when a second one broke, I said something is up. That's when I realized i had it set wrong. Now there is an exhaust leak there but honestly I am very nervous to do it.
I think an exhaust manifold head stud was the first heli-coil I ever did probably 25 years ago. Just make sure you don’t drill in too far and be steady when drilling in the aluminum.
I’m the same when it comes to oil 😅 haha somehow I always get it on myself or on the ground or all over the tools
happy holidays thank you for the clothing and accessories I ordered very appreciated Dean really love and appreciate you man means the world to me♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for the order and support. It helps me out a lot in making more content. I hope the merch was what you were hoping for.
@@SlippingTime I will be buying more every paycheck I get they are amazing only place I can find some legitimately good quality talon shirts and omg the hoodies ❤️💙 i fall asleep in them it’s everything I wanted and more!!!!💙💙💙💙💙💙
After a long day like today only thing better is getting a notification that you’ve uploaded and that my parts have been shipped. I know it says try at your own risk but I’m definitely learning lots of very valuable and important information from this episode as a mechanic I know the the sheer amount of playing around with different knowledge and things is necessary to understand anything. Another wonderful, amazing video made by yours truly much appreciation to you and much love to you!!!! Really thanks for putting an eagle talon on a T-shirt for Christmas this year makes me so happy can’t wait to get it and check her out brother!!!!!
Thanks for all the support this year and more videos coming next year for sure. Enthusiasm looks yours gives me lots of motivation to keep on making them. Enjoy the holiday time coming up!
@@SlippingTime so happy to show any love and support couldn’t be a better year so far crazily getting back into DSM’s. was so worth it I’m so happy I made so many new friends and meet such amazing and wonderful people. From all that and then even more gave me the motivation, to unburied the car in the garage and I’m gonna save a race build 1992’ eagle talon tsi awd and without you and your videos I would not be where I am, or know majority of the things I do without you. Can’t tell you how much the videos mean to us your fans and especially me the most upset respect and support for that unbelievable dedication to your incredible craft. Please make videos at your own leisure though if you got to take care of yourself please take care of yourself we would understand and support you though it brother. Well man I wish you a very merry jerrycan Christmas Thank you truly for everything you do!!!! DSM 4 L1FE
Have you ever had to repair the threads on the cylinder head where the oil feed line to the turbo bolts up? I need to do that on my car, and I'm seriously dreading it.
That LSD gear oil is meant for clutch-type LSDs and has a friction modifier in it. DSMs have a viscous rear LSD, so that type of fluid isn't required. It probably doesn't hurt anything to use it, though. I've always put shockproof in my rear diffs.
Yes, I did helicoil the head oil feed line port once. I did it when the head was out so I was able to ensure any filings were cleaned out. Just make sure your don’t drill too far and go slow. In the car you will most likely need a right angle drill I suspect. I would run a vacuum right where you drill to catch debris and suck out the hole after drilling.
Thanks for letting us know about the LSD oil differences. I have always used shockproof of some sort since it was available. In the early days we all used Amsoil as not much else was around then. This car is staying stock and had to really think about what to use. I almost went back to the Amsoil, but then thought the newer mits stuff is probably the best and of course overkill. :).
Fantastic job! Doing a 4 bolt swap and 4ws delete on my gvr4 this spring. Got a new subframe and diff already. Thanks for showing the seals. Idk of any videos showing how to.
My four bolt swap on my one 90 was from a GVR4 actually. Are you doing the hubs too to convert to a five bolt wheel or leaving them stock?
@@SlippingTime yes got hubs and axles. Remote tuned yesterday and I'm flowing 53lb per min. So high 400whp. I'm going to snap that 3 bolt🤣 but I don't launch it.
@@SlippingTime currently on oem 205/60/15's. Want the oem look because nobody knows what it is. I get a lot of looks in it. Kept up with a model 3 tesla. His wife in the passenger seat was laughing 🤣
@@richardwilliams9815 way back when we were finding the limits of all the components of these cars I broke my 3 bolt launching at the track running about 350whp. That’s when I got the 4-bolt swap. It also was the beginning of trailering to the track as things were going to break when racing as I kept increasing the power. :). The car has DSS axles all the way around now.
The GVR4 has always been the ultimate unsuspecting sleeper. Had a good friend own one. He left it with 4 bolt lugs and was spanking many cars with great surprise. I love them.
I was stressed watching the video until I saw Jack stands.
Yes. Always double safety.
Mitsu still uses MD707184 on its new models so most dealers have them on the shelf even. works out well if you have a 1g. I get them from mitsu in stoon for cheaper then I can at RTMracing.
Merry Christmas Dean.
Oh have you ever had to deal with broken control arm mounting bolts on the curved front arm on a 2g? just found one of mine broken trying to decided what to do about it. Dont know if it goes into the chassis itself or just the subframe.
Good tip on those mits seals.
I fortunately have never had those break. That may suck. I think you mean the lower control arm which attaches to the subframe. Hopefully there is enough of the bolt to grab that it comes out with some heat.
Have a great holiday time as well!
also, what is the proper procedure for setting pinon bearing preload? was it followed in the video?
Would you recommend an auto 2g or manual for a daily car that will be pushing more power, i love the look at feel of the 5 speed but the auto is so much more reliable, handles more power and i could get a shift box or kit
That is not an easy question. I would say it depends on the goals of the car and what you enjoy. I personally love the manual ones. The manual is fairly reliable until you get to 300-350 hp and then needs some better parts which are getting really hard to find. I have a built manual for my 550hp car and love it. I would say if you want to go past that then Auto will last longer and be consistent. Also if you want to drag race a lot then auto is better, but for me not as fun. Driving habits and technique are huge factors in how long a manual will last. Then of course look at red demon running a dog box at 1800hp. You don’t want a dog box for a daily driver though.
@@SlippingTime yeah i love getting in a gsx and looking at the 5 speed, i hate looking at the auto shifter but i wanna be around 480 to 500whp but i know a 5 speed wont last, im gomna take it to a drag maybe once in a summer, i love the sounds a manual makes aswell, but its gonna be so expensive for a built manual when i could just get a shift kit and it would probably hold for the power i wanna be at
All the rust sucks
Yes sir, it does so.
