And I bet the BBC will still send some poor bugger where the worst weather is to report on it! 🙄
better get my beer run in now then in preparation
🤣🍻
@Pete Singletons you beat me to it 👍🤣🤣
I did that before as I am on the south Wales coast, weekend sorted!
I live on the south east coast. And it’s currently 5.30pm 17th of Feb Thursday evening. It’s so calm outside, you can sense the calm before the storm. The atmosphere feels so peaceful. But, I know what’s coming, and I’m bracing myself. Stay safe everyone!
Same here in South Wales. Birds singing in the light breeze. 😁👍
I'm in E. Oxford and its so calm...just walked the dog and not a breeze....can feel it coming.
Here in the Netherlands it's also very calm. We only have an amber warning for windspeeds around 130 km per hour 💀
I hope no one is seriously injured or killed but I can't lie, I do enjoy more extreme weather. Things like this are so rare in the UK.
i do
As this is the third big storm in close succession its getting tedious, ancient Oak trees destroyed, power grid, railways, houses destroyed, and unfortunately a few deaths. Obviously there is more fuss about this one because it might hit London.
1987 here we come again, where is Mr Fish when you need him 🙂 Stay safe everyone!
I slept through that 😳
Some say there’s going to be a hurricane?! Well, there could well be lol.
Yep I remember that in 87 , I was laying there counting the Green house windows as they smashed.
I remember that. Dustbins were blown down the street at high speed. I had to dodge a couple on my way home from work and was worried the bus I got on would fall over!
@@paulflint6254 me too. Aged 7. Got there and school gate was shut. Got home and looked in back garden and a tree had fallen down.
Storm Dudley yesterday: It’s a bit breezy out! The breeziest weather for ages!
Storm Eunice on Friday: Hold my anemometer..
Mr fish: I've have made this mistake before 😥 😔
😆
And be aware of people racing to the coasts to film the crashing waves, putting the lives of any rescuers at risk.
Yep...there are always those nutters who can't resist a shot of big waves coming over the piers!
That ALWAYS happens here in Hong Kong when we have a typhoon! There's always a few idiots who think it's fun to go out and experience all that rain and wind!!!
@@clarissagafoor5222 I think people underestimate the power of the weather for a few seconds of footage or just to be engulfed in waves that can carry rocks or even wash the people into the sea
Spare a thought for us posties who are gonna be delivering in the midst of this storm tomorrow.
I hope they don't make you go out in that!! I would not expect my postie to risk their life to deliver my usual junk mail 🥺
If you were on my route Tony I’d have you in for a cuppa and a hot cross bun!
Stay safe to all the posties we need you!!
Everyone, especially in the red alert area, please stay safe!❤️🇬🇧
Thank you, I am living in Weston-super-Mare and it looks like I am going to be in for it...yikes! My cat stays in tonight! 😐
@@Babadev03 if you can stand it, watch Mark Vogan (I think that’s his name) he’s done a great breakdown of storm Eunice. A lot of people had noted that whilst walking the dog or such like, how eerily calm it is. Please, p,ease be safe
Thankyou, we are in East suffolk, bit blowy currently but nothing severe yet, the next few hours will tell..
The dog’s going to have to keep his legs crossed…
thank you Aidan cheers mate ☺☺
Thank you Aidan stay safe met office team
The meteorological people are preparing folk for the worst case scenario so they are not 'underestimating' what is coming.
Top presentation!
Also red for North Somerset.
Storm Arwen got the north east of the UK in November 2021. February 2022 and its the south west's turn. A mild and otherwise uneventful winter book-ended by storms Arwen and Eunice.
I was camping in the woods during storm Arwen. As a Tree fell in the night I couldn't help but think about how I was about to be an example of natural selection.
I hope the lid stays on my and everyone else's house
Are we at the same point of Michael Fish stating "No its not a hurricane"??... 1987 lives again....
Not rely since it was in 87 that we learnt and recognised this type of weather. Now they say its bad and could be worse.
In 87 they said its not going to be very bad but likely to be not nice.
It’s not a hurricane
@@jasplays9600 but slightly possible the speeds could be 10 percent higher and the extreme end go a further 10 miles inland
@@danielcooke9974 yes, there could be hurricane force winds but it is not a hurricane , this does not share the same characteristics as a hurricane nor did it form in the tropics.
@@jasplays9600 yep two different types of weather phenomenon, this type is normally short lived and localised, I don't even believe this type is possible at sea??
Stay safe from Newcastle
As bad as this is, these areas are lucky that a storm of this strength is this rare, and that this is still far below how strong hurricanes / typhoons / cyclones get in other parts of the world. Some places face much worse threats every year.
I was flooded in 2012 it was the worst experience of my life dident get back into my home fir nearly a year. Now I’m an affidavit weather watcher.
Just another day at the office for us lot in the UK……………..
Well remember there may be power lines down and dont do what I did in 87 and go in at same time to work that morning. I was only one there and on way had to dodge live wires. Dedication sometimes isnt worth it.
Baton down the hatches.
It's spelled batten :), but you still won't see any of my windows open!
I'm off grid. Bit concerned about my barn that I live in getting damaged. I have dozens of mature trees on my land.
Keep safe!
There's a storm coming. Never a truer word said with present circumstances.
Wind speeds in miles per hour; snow depths in centimeters.
I'm very scared 😱 not another storm
Same
i cant wait for an emergency alert! will the uk do the first proper alert?
i think it's only the areas in the red alert that get one
This very changers situation I hope everybody watching this be together safe protected each other of this wetter information time to be actions I wishes to everyone all around the country be safe 🌨❄️💨 🙌🙌🙏
I live in the red area right on the coast ._.
All my sheds are tied down so as prepared as o can be thanks 👍
Looks like Swansea in in for it , we usually miss the really bad weather.
Omg! Yellow Snow? You know what they say…..
Yes mate
When I was in a taxi it moved to the middle lane from the storm! I was so scared!
Stay safe get home and have a hot chocolate.
or a cold chocolate if the power goes off.
@@SC-hk6ui This why you need candles: To warm up the chocolate in case the power goes out🍫
@@Sienisota It could be for weeks if there is extensive damage. But I think this storm is a bit hyped up.
@@UCCLdIk6R5ECGtaGm7oqO-TQ Not a lot of wind where I am. Nothing blew over. No damage locally.
and at the moment I'm in that red line
Stay safe. I hope you power doesn't cut out.
@@Sienisotayeah thx, hope you stay safe too
Me to Swansea
Yes that
80mph wind not bad then
Hope my roof stays intact
significant chance to be overwhelmed by face coverings and flying debris. he should have said
Ohhh the rain has started Devon 10pm
Oldham is the safest for storms we don't get that bad as other area
It's typical that I live in the red zone
Could you add a key visual in future videos to say what the arrows and bumps mean?
The arrows represent the direction the wind is moving in. What do you mean by bumps?
@@SpaceSpaceCat by bumps they may mean contour lines? not sure
And they didn't mention anything at my work
Still need to go to take train to work tomorrow
On the positive side - 40% of the UK's electricity is coming from cheap, clean and renewable wind power today. Helps keep energy prices down a bit when the alternative - gas - has soared in price.
As mentioned. Wind turbines cannot all operate in high winds.
@@SC-hk6ui yeah they will just get destroyed like those videos on CZcams you see
Of them
getting destroyed
@@itsjoy9629 Just because ONE falls over doesn't make the entire technology a fail. We all knows what happens when a fossil fuel pipeline fails or when a nuclear power plant fails. One wind turbine falling over is not a disaster.
@@SC-hk6ui and yet wind turbines are providing more electricity during this storm than nukes and gas combined... how is that possible if they "cannot operate in high winds"?
I live in London
Buys wine. Ensures Netflix sub is up to date. 700 dreadful movies with wine and wind. Perfect.
Check out Cosmos on Amazon Prime. It's a great film.
@@SC-hk6ui finally someone who thinks its brill too. Hope u have power tho. 😬
Make sure you have an alternative power source, in case the main gets taken down by the storm.
@@tg4941 It's got to be the best science fiction film to come out of the UK for decades. It cost something like £5k to produce and was done on Blender software with a home cinema camera! I just find it so awesome. They even did their own makeup. An absolute masterpiece.
@@SC-hk6ui yes the end bit when they are trying to get to the telescope. Edge of seat.
I have plenty off toilet rolls I'm OK
I am worried about this
please bring your trampolines inside if you have one!!
So for leeds it will be a bad snow blizzard
I'm in the centre
I really do hope safety to all, this is going to become more common obviously there at this point is nothing to deny.
Hello from Belgium Eunice is about to be hit us
Is it going to be as bad or worse than 1987.
Still, I suppose it’s better safer and forewarned than sorry.
Although I have to say that some of the so called storms that have gone through haven’t been so bad. I suppose it depends on where you live.
I live in the north and the wind it’s metal.
Storm Eunice brought me here
Seems to be downgraded somewhat, SE/Essex was 80+ yesterday now looks to be 60-70. Still powerful but not as bad.
You seem disappointed?!
@@tinman8311 if a sting jet develops he won't be disappointed
I’m in the red zone 😵
Me living on the coast in red warning area 😈😈😈 ima become superman
😂😂 fly away
@@itsjoy9629 yes
Give me a sting jet please!
Why the strong wind colour same as snow? Look like we are having loads of snow and rain!!.maybe I’m colour blind….
It's a yellow warning.
My fence got destroyed
Omg my name is eunice
Not 1/10th as intensely powerful as 1987 along the south coast but one of the worst in the last decade for sure.
Red warning where I am been issued for red warnin ever my school has been shut down due to it I live in the south by the way and a red warning has been issued for us
Ok then
This is very interesting, the frequency of these events seams to be increasing. Climate change is talking hold.
Its NOT climate change 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not really. The last storm of this strength was maybe 2007 but more likely 25/01/1990. We are well overdue a storm of this strength.
Absolute nonsense… Nothing to do with climate change. It’s a winter storm!
😀 so many clever thinkers.
🐑
This storm aint scary lol
Hello climate change. See you've found our little Island!
@@maybenot6075 The point is they are happening much more frequently.
@@catalickconverta6823 The point is that climate change increases the frequency of extreme weather events. Not that they break the last record.
Where there are floods, the climate change causes more frequent floods. Where there is draught, it causes less rain more frequently. Where there are hurricanes or storms, those will show up more frequently (and it seems the areas where there are tornadoes in U.S, the location of them is slowly moving)
The dog’s going to have to keep his legs crossed…
