The clay pot option is elite.
First 3 rules of stove top rice: never open the lid, never open the lid, never open the lid.
This rice cooker is perfect! I use it only for me czcams.com/users/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia and sometimes me and my friend so the small size is really great for counter space since we never need to make all that much. I have been using it now for about 2 months and it still works perfectly. I use it for both rice and vegetables (better for harder vegetables like green beans and carrots, it made my broccoli way too smoosh-y for my taste). It keeps your rice on keep warm automatically which I really like, and I’ve used a few of the settings, flash rice, white rice, brown rice, and steam, and they all work super well for me, although I don’t like smooshy rice so I’ll usually use flash rice. It’s super easy to clean either in dishwasher or hand wash, and it’s pretty easy to get rice out of the grooves by where the container comes out. I assume this one will last me a long time but if I ever need another I will definitely be getting this one again!
I tried this for my little daughter in has method..she loved it and thanked you ... thanks for such easy recipe...plsss make a series on rice cooker recipes for us....trust me many viewers will be grateful to you
YES!! It's not really easy to find easy, fast prep recipes for a rice cooker. If one is homeless or lives where there is no cooking access, they could live with just a rice cooker. The things she sauteed I'm sure are better if cooked that way, but could just be put in with everything else.
You can use the mushroom water too% it’s like a natural stock
Natural umami.
natural psychedelic
Super idea. No waste and yummy mushroomy taste
Oh yes this is a superb idea, thxx
thanks! i popped a stock cube in the mushroom water before adding it to the pot and it came out great 😂
I made this in my Instant Pot. I reduced the amount of wine by half and replaced it with broth. I set it to the same times I use when I'm cooking plain jasmine rice: 10 minutes on manual, followed by 10 minutes natural pressure release. Came out great.
Thank you! I was wondering about the time in an insta pot.
Thank you for this. I live for my IP.
I tried on instapot but always comes out too wet. More time or less liquid?
@@davieboy75 The ratio of rice to liquid for jasmine rice (and basmati and "plain" also; I've done all 3) is 1:1.25. In this recipe, I used 2 cups of jasmine rice and 2.5 cups of liquid (2.25 cups broth and .25 cup Shaoxing wine). I have an older Instant Pot so manual = high pressure. Also you do need to let it sit for at least 10 minutes after the timer ends (natural pressure release). One more thing: I do not wash/rinse my rice prior to putting it in the IP. Hope these tips help!
Amazing thank you. Will try that thanks, can’t wait to see how it goes, looks amazing!!
I absolutely love the bloopers!! Seriously needs some lightness and laughter during this Sydney lock down! Thanks for the recipe Marion as always ❤️
Would like to suggest more easy recipes like this. 😍
Thanks for your suggestion Sherry! Will add it to my list of ideas! :)
@@Marionskitchen Thanks Marion. Love your dishes. 😇😍😍😍😍😍😍
OMG YES I love easy recipes!
@@Marionskitchen yes. Especially all-in-one rice cooker recipes. thx.
@@Marionskitchen yes pls
I would love more rice cooker recipes. ❤️
I love your easy weeknight doable recipes - I didn’t know my rice cooker could do dishes like this. Definitely going to try it this week.
Thank you for all your wonderful cooking videos. I am a noob and don’t like cooking, but following your steps, guidelines, and tips makes it really easy. I especially appreciate the bloopers! So much fun, shows the authentic mishaps of being human. It takes the stress of making it perfect out of the way so I can enjoy and have fun while cooking with your videos.
I think I started watching Marion just before the pandemic, and I have never stopped. I’ve watched and rewatched so many of your videos (Fusion pasta and the series with Silvia were my favorites, and the dumplings, and the noodles, so all of it I guess. 😅) You’re just awesome! And now that I’m in AU, I’d be able to try your products as I’ve seen them in the supermarket.
I have tried to make some of your pasta dishes and I loved them!
Thank you so much for using both. I have a rice cooker but it's in storage several hours away so it was fantastic to see the recipe done in a heavy bottom pot AS WELL as the rice cooker. I plan on making this, looks amazing!
I just made this recipe and it was the most delicious thing ever. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
PD: I used the simplest rice cooker there is (cook function only) and it was perfectly good. You all try it!!
Good to know! Thank you
Did you follow this recipe exactly with your rice cooker? I wanna buy a rice cooker and also do this! But don’t wanna pay $250 for the rice cooker 😭
@@mittensthehousecat4114 Rice cookers start at around $20 (sometimes less) depending on its' functions. A basic rice cooker shows when the rice is in "cook" mode, and automatically switches to the "warm" mode, once your rice has finished cooking. More expensive ones still have these basic functions (like the rice cooker used in this video), but I don't believe you need all these fancy settings to make this recipe.
@@the.chocolatefactory thank you! I’ve never owned a rice cooker and wondered about the cheap ones functions before maybe I go the middle ground and buy like $80-100 one with more settings
@@mittensthehousecat4114 If you're in Australia you can get a $16 one, and a bigger one for $30 from Woolworths. Super Duper 12 in 1 multi function cooker with all the bells and whistles from Kogan (almost like an Instant Pot) for 69.99
Love when mama Noi entered the frame. She's so cute. Love you mama Noi...
Back to the dish. Well. I'm Asian so having a rice cooker as a cooking gadget in the kitchen is crucial and it is a staple item for most Asian household, especially if you're from East Asia. It's so easy to use, just leave the rice cooker to do its thing, 20mins later and you have your well cooked rice. I even cook biryani rice in my rice cooker instead of on the stove top.
OMG, Marion !! College students need to watch this video. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but in the U.S., nowadays a lot of college students keep rice cookers in their dormitories, not just Asians, Hispanics, Middle Easterners, etc., but also black and white young people, too. Of course, rice is so affordable, which suits the students’ budget; Jewish kids can even make excellent kasha in rice cookers. Some young people have even “smart rice cookers” like your demonstration !
Aw thank you so much Damian! I hope they do watch this one😆
@@Marionskitchen count me in as one of them!!! love this type of recipe, thank you so much marion!
Interesting. A rice cooker was the only food warming appliance allowed in my sons dorm room. Wish he would have had recipes like this one!
I made this on the stovetop tonight after discovering this accidentally, utterly delicious! Even my fussy 10 y/o smashed her serving. Really easy to make, full of flavour and so damn tasty!
That is a lovely rice cooker. My favorite rice cooker ever. I had it for a very long time. It is a lovely appliance. Thanks for your delightful dishes. Yummy 😋
I now understand why you are such a lovely person… Because your mom is a lovely person too. Bless her and you!
This was so enjoyable to watch. Now I wanna get one of the rice cooker. Love it. 😍
Thank yoooou, trying this one out this weekend!
Marion - you know. I just love watching your channel. So much. And I don’t even cook!! It’s always so interesting!
Your Mum is THE BEST. ❤️❤️❤️ Please tell her how amazing she is !! She has a fan in Los Angeles!
Your rice looks delish 🤤 Definitely will try.
Stovetop rice needs to be left ALONE ( no opening )for 20 minutes then turn the rice ( all your grains will cook evenly) , cover and let it go for about 10 minutes or done to your liking . Hispanics, Puertoricans, use aluminum pots so it’s done faster. Time can vary in a cast iron enameled pot.
I love this recipe..thank you
always excellent - always as in usual ... Thank-you Marion ... anticipating more !!!
My favourite comfort food! Thanks Marion!
You have a lovely smile like your mother i never get bored watching all your videos thanks for sharing your cooking tips...watching here in Zürich Switzerland
I love Marion recepies so much
Thank you Marilou! So glad that you've been enjoying the recipes and videos :)
I really love your laughing 🤣
The pot is boiling!! Happy birthday to Mama Noi again! 😊🙏
I made it for tonight's dinner. It was super easy and my kids love it! Please have more recipe like this 🙏
I made this last night and loved it! Thank you so much for such an easy recipe! I just subscribed!
Just got my rice cooker today and your recipe was the first thing I made. It came out so good! Very delicious.
Definitely trying this tomorrow. Tq Marion. Love yr channel.😍
I have this exact rice cooker, and i absolutely love it!! 🤩
Made this with a Dutch oven for dinner tonight. It was tasty so thank you for the recipe. 👍The taste reminds me of the Chinese dim sum lotus wrapped chicken and rice.
Love this! Trying out tonight 🤪!
Thanks Marion's kitchen 😘
You're very welcome Yohan! Hope you love it :)
I stumbled into your cooking channel and really enjoy watching it. I learned a lot from you; the film quality is also great.
Love this so much. So easy and what a great rice cooker!
Can't wait to try this out. Love easy one pot dishes.
Just cooked it in my cast iron Dutch oven, and perfecto! Thanks for another great recipe that works.
Love your cooking vlog, all your ingredients not hard to get. All your foods looks very tasty
Cook it in a clay pot.. yummmmm
Btw fuzzy logic is how you feel after a few drinks.
Great dish and great vid. Love the laid back vibe, almost "Sam The Cooking Guy" vibe with the banter and different takes etc. Loved it can't wat for another one.
Thanks for sharing this delicious and easy recipe 😋 ❤
Love this Marion - I’ve got a fuzzy logic rice cooker too (a smaller 4 cook one) but struggle to know what to do in it - except just cooking plain or rice (which it’s damn good at). Would love more videos like this where you show both recipes & I’m sure a ton of your viewers have rice cookers, so this test kitchen concept is a winner. Cheers :)
I have a smaller one too and it cooks everything. I've yet to find a really good rice cooker cookbook, so online and imagination is what I use.
I’ve been living in a hotel for an extended time and I got this for my cooking you can do anything in it! I’ve cooked chicken ground beef, regular bed, sweet potatoes, cooked vegetables and steamed too. It’s been so useful
Looks yummy! Love those bowls ♥️
Going to make this for my Dad tomorrow. He is going to love it. I love you just bung some stuff into and a pot and press a button. Can't wait to make it
I've been making a similar dish at home for some time now. I also add dried lily and use a cheap Aroma rice cooker from Costco. It is fantastic. Thanks;for showing this made two ways.
If Mama Noi was any more adorable, I would just expire! Great recipe, great vid, as usual, Marion. Love all you do.😘😁⚘
Oh no metal spoon against the rice cooker pot 😳 what would Uncle Roger say
yeah omg......it is a test kitchen though ;)
that noise killed me, when the spoon was scratching the rice cooker pot
and about the rice lol
Uncle roger would tell her to wash the rice
Emotional damage!
Love watching you cooking.. ❤️❤️❤️
Marion...this recipe seriously so good! The convenience and ease for such a flavorful recipe and incorporating the rice cooker just made this a regular in the weekly rotation. Thank so much for this!
We got the Panasonic rice cooker after seeing this video and I couldn’t wait to try out the recipe. So easy and worked just like your video!!! Thanks so much- it was delicious, so happy. Really love your videos.
lovely hand made bowls and little vessels. Nice touch to a good video
The 'sar-po-fun' (claypot rice) got me hooked, and the first few minutes with that faux pas on the cooker and fuzzy logic got me committed. I've been doing wonders with my multi-cooker and just wanted to watch your recipe. Great job!
@Marion's Kitchen Thanks Marion for all the inspiration and for this wonderful comparison between the rice cooker and the stovetop version. Since I live in the US, I'm not able to find the 10 cup rice cooker like you used so I had to settle for the 5.5 cup model. I just finished this recipe and I'm happy to report that it all fit with about an inch or two to spare after cooking and it browned nicely. Cook time was about 1hr and it turned out absolutely amazing. For those with gluten allergy, I used dry sherry instead of the shaohsing cooking wine. Can't wait to try this again except next time changing it up with some different ingredients.
Good start 😄 Already started laughing with you since the first minute.
Cooking in clay pot just makes everything fancy. Your food looks amazing as usual 💕
Your three year old is adorable and this dish looks absolutely yum! 🤭
Aw thank you! Glad you like this one :)
I really love this video. I mean, I love all the recipes and the production that goes into every video on the channel, but this one shows such a sweet and funny side to cooking something that we can all make super easily.
this test kitchen series is a genius!
Thanks Marion for this recipe
Omg, another yummy Recipe , All ingredients in one Dishes, love Chinese sausage, black mushroom so the chicken .I imagine what my grandma cook same like as you do , called " kiampong " , using nonstick rice cooker ..
So DELICIOUS!! Making this for dinner on Fri!!! 💕💕💕
Your recipes are always mouthwatering 😍❤
I made this today and it came out amazing 🤩
I’m glad I watch a lot of Marion so I have a lot of the ingredients she uses! I can make this whole dish right now because I have all the ingredients!!!!😂 I love this woman
I don't watch her much and I have all the ingredients just because I sometimes cook Chinese. These are just some of the most basic Chinese ingredients (except for the sausage obviously). ;)
Which is cool because you can cook a lot of different delicious dishes with the Asian basics.
You should check out Asian (especially Chinese) recipes from other cooks as well because you probably will have most ingredients. I like RecipeTin Eats a lot for example (she's Japanese-Australian).
@@Romy--- yes after cooking for so long I’ve found many recipes I can just make on spot. I’m slowly building my repertoire of recipes I know by heart. I haven’t heard if that one. I’ll check it out!
Yay! Going to try this soon :) love a good rice cooker.
Yes looks delicious, not big on the carbs.thank you chef. 🤠
I just tried this tonight! Very delicious! I have a regular rice cooker that's not super fancy so i just used the regular cook function. I would decrease the light soy sauce a little to make it less salty and maybe a little more liquid/stock for me. Thanks for the recipe!
how long did it take you?
Literally just ordered the rice cooker now so i can try and make this dish 🙂 looks so yummy yet simple.. can't wait!!
Looks tasty and mouth watering your chicken dish you made, this is absolutely tasty and yummy,
Thank you for sharing your recipe.
I just made this tonight and it was delicious! Thankyou!! 10/10!!!
Glad you liked it!!
My mum would be shouting at you for opening the lid so often 😂
really love your work
Definitely going to cook this for dinner later.... 😍😍😍😍😍
Wow looking great here mmm!
Love your mom! Oh yes, and the recipe of course.
Hi Marion I can assure you fuzzy logic is a real thing lol I’m a computer science engineer and my thesis subject was : fuzzy logic control!. Love your channel, humour and recipes. Keep up the good work !
I just need it known... This is my GO TO recipe if I am taking food to a friend it is FANTASTIC !! DEFINATELY A FAMILY FAV!!! THANKS FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO !!
We're glad you and your family enjoyed this one, Courtney! -Team Marion's Kitchen
I love that pink pot 😍
Still need to finish the vid 🙈 im sure this will be another amazing dish!
Hi Mom! Thanks for saving the day! ;) I was concerned the honey would cause it to burn. I like to add sugars near the end.
Marion, you're so lovely to watch and your channel is great. Cauli-laab is a new fav in my house (which is astounding w/my 2 adult, picky-eaters!). xx
I just cooked this for dinner and then your video popped up! Unfortunately my rice cooker doesn’t have the claypot function.
I fry the sausages first to render the fat out then use it to fry soaked dried shrimp, mushrooms, garlic and the marinated chicken. Finally fry the rice,
Add the sauce, and mushroom and shrimp soaking liquids. Fry till absorbed, then throw it all in the rice cooker. Adds lots of layers of umami- ness.
made it tonight stove top! so easy and delicious. thank you!
Tak for en skøn opskrift ❤️ det smagte så fantastisk 👌👍
Makes me feel hungry!
Now off to buy a rice cooker...
And try this recipe....thanks, Marion.
Lovely looks delicious simple to prepare I will prepare some keep cooking Marion it's fun when you are in the kitchen there is always a good menu 🙂 thanks for sharing
You're very welcome Islyn! Hope you love it!! :)
Look delicious..can anyone please write down the ingredients she used ..🙏🙏
I loooove your pink dutch ovens, so pretty!
Ok….I just bought this rice cooker (thanks!) and am making this tomorrow. Can’t wait. 😊
I still use the rice cooker my parents got for wedding gift, almost 40 yrs ago! It only has one button. 🤣🤣 Amazing how there’s now one with clay pot option!
I got a National brand orange rice cooker for my 21st - I'm now 66. I gave it to my daughter a few years ago and it's still getting used weekly. I bought a new multicooker. I'd rather have the old one back lol
Just made this the other night using the quick function on my tiger rice cooker. Love the flavor chinese sausage brings!
Top mum you got there!!!! salute from London just bought Yumasia bamboo rice cooker and loved you video!!! as spanish/Andalusian ill try to do traditional Arroz con marisco. finger crossed.
Thanks for another great recipe! Your recipes always turn out great. I have tons of go-tos from this channel.
Btw, we say corn starch here in Canada 🇨🇦too😁
Made it today on the stove top. It was so so good! I just had to add a little more water because my rice was still a little hard. Maybe because the chicken stock is thicker than regular water. :)
Saw this video pop up, and had to go straight out to an Asian grocer at the end of my street that I've never shopped at (that'll change), to buy everything I didn't have.
This meal is so delicious! Awesome recipe, thanks 👌
Please, more one-pot ideas.
I love the humor and laughter I’ve seen later.
This looks amazing! Please make some more pressure cooker (Instant Pot) recipes. I have chronic pain and fatigue, and love how the Instant Pot saves me time and energy when it comes to getting dinner on the table.
Just a friendly advice. Ditch those carbs or plants and just eat meat/ animal products including fish and seafoods. This change of lifestyle/ eating habits made me free from pain. I have autoimmune (Hashimoto) disease and arthritis that I suffered from since my late 20s. I am on only meat diet and I am symptom free. Look it up.
@@melrosepark4463 unfortunately my pain resulted from complications after what should have been routine surgery. I’m happy you found something that has helped you.
@@amberh.5393 speaking of surgery, that’s the thing a avoided because I had a few surgeries myself. I don’t want anymore surgery so I started looking for options and stumbled upon some info about low carb that leads me to Keto and finally to carnivore. It helped my son and daughter on their depression and my sister on her fatty liver disease. My parents were the 2 persons I failed to help because my other siblings were responsible for them financially so I can’t convince them to just try. I was hearth broken because I they never get the chance to feel better even just a a few remaining years of their life.
Melrose Park i have hashimotos and suffering as I cannot stabilize my thyroid any longer due to allergy to getting Cytomel scrpit which nearly killed me. Now i’m anemic and got blood clots. I eat carbs because nothing else stays down. Otherwise I eat fish and veggies mostly. 7 mushroom tincture helped me alot. And ginger extract.
Melrose Park fatty liver is concerning me lately since I didn’t know carbs could cause it. How does keto keep your liver fatfree? Been incorporating keto routine with intermittent fasting even if I am not doing keto.
please do more rice cooker meals!
I just bought a rice cooker but I don't have gas oven also I don't know much about cooking but this video has given me a good deal of confidence. I'll start cooking soon.
Love seeing these recipes using the rice cooker. I have this model but I’m unsure of what settings to use for what I’m cooking if it isn’t just rice. In fact, I haven’t even used it to cook rice yet, I’ve made other things . Mostly because of how fast it cooks things- especially the tougher meat cuts. They are done in an hour!
And now i know what i want for christmas.
