This filter was given to me to review. I don't work and am not sponsered by Sicce. Always fun to get new stuff to try out and testing out my abilities to film and review a product makes me want to do more. But what should I review?
One of those Chihiros algae doctor things. Not sure if they're legit.
I'd say review anything. It gives you content.
35 years old🤯😳🤯 I thought you were like 25😂 lookin good, jimmy, lookin good👌🏻
A little tip, run hot water on your suction cups to get them in easier.
Excellent into. Nice looking filter. I agree about the suction cups. I'm 53 with the beginnings of arthritis in my hands. Putting those suction cups on requires much cursing.
Ginger Graves we will pass it on
Great product video. Everything covered, seems like a nice aesthetically pleasing filter system.
Will have to get one. Nice turtle!
Hmm, i may have to try out one of these filters! looks like such an easy filter to run! (Intro was awesome!)
Intro was great! And I legit thought at first, whoa! Jimmy got himself some sleeves, nice!😁
Very well done review, you make me want to buy it! Love the magnetic connections, taking stubborn plastic tabs apart really grinds my gears. Which is why the suction cup issue is disappointing. But overall a nice filter, I’m thinking about getting it.
You can also fill it with ceramic media or any other small course media along with the sponge it comes with. Doesn't necessarily need to be just a water polisher, it can be a stable filter.
Cool little filter. Wasn’t aware these existed, going to pick one up to help clear tanks after rescape and help establish new tanks.
David Reid Nada boom
Awesome looking intro and great job reviewing the filter. Now if only i could afford to hire your talent, lol.
awesome video, I was thinking it could be good for a quarantine tank. Expansions makes it super easier to add chemical media to remove meds etc. Any idea if this can be placed horizontally in a tank?
magnetic assembly for ease of cleaning is a dope concept, i like!
I agree!
Nice filter look easy to maintain 🤓
Quite interesting, section that needs clean can be quickly removed nice.
There is a room for improvement: if the impeller had a small protective removable mesh then main bit could be also used as a power head if required. Interesting. Keep safe dude.
Good review Jimmy, we had the exact same filter in NZ about 15 years ago but I can't for the life of me think of the brand of it but it was the exact same look and design. I haven't seen them around any more but I had one in my 20G tropical tank and had angelfish lay eggs on the large flat side of the filter. The magnetic release of the capsule is very handy, not having to slide a cartridge off while still in the tank. Would definitely buy one again if I saw them re appear.
Scott Shadbolt Sicce shark
would love to see how you shot the opening clips. awesome camera movement! was most of it in edit or physical shooting?
Alll camera movement haha
Interesting little filter. Might have to get one for the L046 tank!
How much weight for this product
Jimmy-great review. Quick question, you said it was the 400, but you put a link to the 600 in the description. I thought the 400 isn't expandable?
Jimmy ordered this for my 125 african Cichlid tank :) hopefully works good I have a fluval fx6 and a Aquaclear 110 on it :) my other question I have a 20 long planted tank is it better keeping it lid less with the fluval planted 3.0 would it get better results ?
Not bad. Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Great review.
Hey Jimmy, unrelated question here, what type of lighting do you have on your African Cichlid aquarium?
I'm gonna get that filter, also love your Mata Mata Turtle😁👍.You should get a Common Snapping Turtle.
Good to know!!
excellent review... @3:34 a little vegetable oil on the suction cup nub helps greatly
You can use a small flat blade jewelers screwdriver to poke those suction cups in.
Does this replace the sponge filter or hang on the back filter? I use a sponge filter and hang on the back filter.
Looks cool Thanks for sharing
What? Do ya think we're all done at 50? Lol! Good review! I might have to try one out myoldself!
I put a little bag of carbon and I used a piece of Pinkie floss really polish is my tank nice I've had it about 8 months now it's the bomb I'm 52 and I had no problem getting those suction cups in LOL worksmart warm them up and hot water first
What is the quietest and smallest filter you can recommend thanks
Are you sure that the extension cannister fits on the 400 ?? I thought that feature was exclusively on the 800 model
Cheers
You should definitely do a puffer in the turtle tank once you take the turtle out you should do a fahaka puffer i’ve had mine for almost a year I’m absolutely in love with my puffer definitely my favorite fish and you could keep it in that tank for quite a while
What type tank was that 5 gallon that you put the small corys in?
Interesting product and a good video.
Besides the function as a scaping filter or clean up filter, it could also function as an emergency filter should a canister have issues. I realize a sponge filter serves the same function, but some users hate cleaning sponge filters.
A few questions:
- Do you think the intake would take up fry?
- You mentioned the power input. I assume there is a small plug in transformer. Could it run on battery power for transport or blackouts?
Thanks,
Jim
James Green if they got close enough maybe but you can also easily screen off the bottom
My Sobo WP1000F does a solid job of polishing my 20Gal tank water. Its around 5 usd..Also we have the option of Sobo WP 1503 F for 7 Usd which is even better.
Why dont they deliver the filter holder with the sucction cups already in place?
3:41 At "50 or something" you are still strong hahaha
I have 3 of the 600 models. Love them all except......the suction cups will fail. All 3 of mine at least 2 of the 4 cups failed. It still suctions to the glass but still frustrating. Haven't found any replacements yet. But love the filter. I just use the filters that come with it and I can't believe how well it cleans. Be careful of how large you make the bottom vent. Little fry can easily get sucked in. I use a piece of pantie hose with a rubber band in my fry tank. Seems to help.
Sorry to see the maya mats leaving that tank. She looks so good in there.
Cheers,
Chris
Do you still recommend it over the magnum?
Sick sicce bro
Great video thank you.
Like the review
What a cool filter!! I was expecting you to say it would cost $100 or more! I might just have to get one.... I usually use HOBs chocked full of filter media or sponge/matten filters. Can you put filter media in the chamber to replace one of the sponges? The amount of ease it took you to take it apart.... wow makes me hate my one canister filter even more lol
Lily A. Whoop whoop
I like how it works
You have the hook upside down... I did the same thing the first time I set it up. The other way it snaps in and is tight. You also need that longer air tube. The one that comes with it is super short and make noises.
Good practical breakdown. Thanks Jimmy!
Thanks Nelson!
Well done on the product review. The intro was amazing. I honestly thought it was a legit Sicce ad until I noticed it was your fish room in the background!
Looks like a pretty nice filter and being held together with magnets was a brilliant idea. Not using magnets to attach the filter to the aquarium wall was a brain fart though. I hate suction cups, so I honestly wouldn't buy this filter.
I know reviews aren't your thing, but you do a good job with them.
This is what I consider the perfect comment. Great input on how they can improve with no hate and just great criticism. I appreciate you so much. Thank you OT.
Ocean Truth you do not have to use it but it’s there to help keep it up right in a specific area. If not you can stand it up.
@@jimmygimbal No problem, Jimmy! I appreciate all you do and the style you have in all the things you do.
Definitely, no hate here. I know Sicce is a good company and their water pumps are great. Heck, I'm pretty sure my Seachem Tidal runs a Sicce motor. Just figured since they're using magnets everywhere else they could have done away with the suction cups. I probably would have gotten one if it had that feature even if it cost more. Maintenance is probably a breeze on that filter.
@@Jaywil07 That's a good point. I just figured standing it up would mess with the substrate. I'd definitely consider it for a bare bottom. I like how simple it looks to clean out. Like I said, brilliant use of the magnets.
thanks 😊
Hey I'm not here to spoil things to those who want to buy this..But mine doesn't work properly..I purchased it last year around month of May..Then Feb 2021 comes I noticed that water in the tank turns cloudy and a lot of sludge.I noticed that motor doesn't work.So I washed my Shark ADV,replaced water in the tank ..It work again but after a few minutes..It stops again...so I let it just sit again for a few days..water turns cloudy again and I observe water doesnt flow on the filter so I cleaned up again..it work again for a few minutes and it stops again...So I guess there's a problem with that Filter I supposed. Mine is Shark Adv 800 so I'm kinda disappointed.Any suggestions?
cool, thanks!
intro is 🔥🔥🔥
Like the skin between my toes
@@SteenfottAquatics lol
@@SteenfottAquatics WHY BOB 🤢🤣
BIAS
@@Jaywil07 is there a problem here 😂
Is it quiet?
looks like it could be a good one to use with Axolotl tank
ishii-san very good use
I must be removing the canister wrong because when I pull the bottom part off to clean the sponges, a bunch of debris comes out.
Hey now, I'm one of those 50 y/o's... As always great video.
sicce pumps ROCK and they last FOREVER!!!!
Riley Gilroy whoa thank you!
Nice intro and filter needs to be tested 💨 👍 Greetings from Poland 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Jimmy will you be doing an update on this filter?? I just got mine in and I was hoping to hear how things are going with it
@Drinking Water filter is doing well. That being said I wouldn't recommend it simply because theirs other filters out there that do the job better amd are easier to maintain. I essentially use mine as a power head that has some filtration on it. But I run a sponge filter along with it.
@Drinking Water ide go with a hang on back personally. I've yet to find a internal that I'm really satisfied with. You just about can't go wrong with an Aquaclear hob
It seems strange to me that they made this innovative product with magnetic attaching compartments however it attaches with suckers still. They should have had the attachment as a magnet too.
put suction cups in VERY hot water until they're softer
That cord looks long enough
I have 800, the sucking power is sub-par. My suggestion shall be to increase the sucking power
I'm 58 year old women and got the suction cups in no problem
None aquarium related comment, but asians don’t raisin. I could almost swear that CZcamsr Ryo Watanabe is like 40 years old. 😂😂😂
Fish related comment: I think this would be dope to use after a chemical treatment and stuff carbon inside.
It isn't rated for 106 gallons. That's gallons per hour. It's rated for like 16-25 gallons
Hey, how come your hair is well trimmed? Social distancing!!!!
Haha I trusted the girlfriend to do it. :)
Due a saltwater tank Jimmy
I would never use that thing.
you're 35???
I’m actually 36 hahha I forgot
@@jimmygimbal I legit thought you were 25 or at least less than 30 lol
Swhiskey I do that all the time lol. I somehow went from 23 to 25 yesterday, which was my birthday 😂. My brother’s roommate says he expired when he turned 30, so that explains why you had trouble with the suction cups 😉😝
I think the Marineland Magnum is better than this one. Hands down. Nothing can beat D.E. when it comes to filtration.
Well the magnum is different completely. It’s a water polisher. It’s also 3x bigger. You couldn’t use it for a 10 gallon. Although, I changed my mind on this product, you can’t compare the two.
Its not just a water polisher. Its very versatile . You can you use it as a biological filter , mechanical or both. But yes, its 300 gph so its not suitable for small tanks
First!
Why oh why do they make them such dumb colours. Just make them black so it can be hidden
