    I was a kid in the 50's... sure there was a lot of crappy food... the old peanut butter and jam sandwiches, corner store candies, pop, koolaid, lots of potatoes to fill up on.... baking goods and home made bread, margarine, jello, then the whole Christmas thing... but rarely did you see fat people and didn't know anyone with type 2 diabetes .... post war with a whole lot of kids to fill.....really young parents... rare to have salads... meat and potatoes as a basic meal... smoking and drinking were totally normal..... We were constantly on the go... sitting at home was not an option.... junk food was labeled party food or a treat.... Mother always yelling...."Get out of those cupboards and wait for supper"... eating around the clock was forbidden, we were outside playing until supper and the mothers calling their kids home.... in short, our relationship with food was vastly different

    The problem with people using the Ozempic pen for weight loss is that it was designed as a diabetes drug and they’ve changed it to become a weight loss drug which has now made it very hard for diabetes patients like myself and a colleague of mine to actually get the drug to help us battle diabetes.

    Explain to me why instead of losing weight I gained weight not being able to eat more than a mouthful. My TSH shot up to over 22 and my legs were so weak I could not walk. Off it, I am able to exercise again, build muscles and lose fat. I know what discipline is and I know the ability to be disciplined is feeling strong, energetic and confident in my body's ability to become stronger. This medication obliterated all these variables. Surely, I am not the only one who has experienced these devastating side effects. Yes and now I am able to poop again. That feeling of fullness, is a very uncomfortable feeling. Never feeling hungry is dangerous when you are over the age of 60. Sarcopenia, osteoporosis, fraility. No thanks, give me my appetite back so I know when my body needs to be fed. How on earth do you consume 1.6 grams of protein per 1kg body weight when you can't even swallow 1 bite without feeling uncomfortably full.
    How long do you think you can exercise on very little fuel if just walking a few steps feels like running a marathon? The body says no to exercise and is resistant to the thought. But when it is fueled and feeling strong it craves to be active and moving all the time. Just try to stop it. Eff this med, I threw it in the bin I was so angry 😡 It is a guaranteed pathway to age-care. I seemed to have experienced all the side effects and none of the benefits.😢

      @seethe313 Před 2 měsíci +5

      Eh... not for me. Fat doesn't satiate me. I went keto and gained weight because I was still always hungry (turns out that I was eating damn near 3000 calories a day when I logged my food). Now I just care about getting enough protein and fiber and keeping my calories under maintenance. It's really about what works for you.
      low carb vs. high carb is just preference- as Layne mentions many times on his channel.
      The best way of calorie restriction is the one that's most sustainable for you- whether that be keto, intermittent fasting, low fat, or whatever permutation in between.

    The side effects of muscle loss is an invisible but important issue which should also be considered. I also lost lean muscle when using it and did weight training at the same period of time. However, at least for me, there’s some situation that lose fat is more emergent than considering the side effect.

      If you are morbidly obese it’s very clear that the benefits of this drug outweigh the negatives. Of course improving your health through diet and exercise is better. But that has been ineffective for some people for decades. Ozempic usually negatively impacts muscle mass as well as fat, but for some that’s a worthwhile trade, because their weight is their biggest problem.

Improving health through diet and exercise is NOT ineffective, it's the only effective way actually, it's just that they aren't doing it or finding the way to do it... It's tragic... And big pharma creating another money making "solution" on the backs of these people is even more tragic and will only take them and others further away from what is true health, making the path to it even more complicated to navigate... But then again, where there is a will there is a way and people will get what they settle for... We all learn and grow and develop, so in one sense, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stonger, whatever road blocks will help you learn... So in that sense it's a "net positive"... Everything is...
