  • After weeks of debate, NASA has ruled out bringing two astronauts back to Earth aboard Boeing's Starliner capsule because of lingering concerns about multiple helium leaks and degraded thrusters, both critical to a successful re-entry, officials said Saturday.

To imprve on safety and allow for unknown situations to be handled like this, unlike when they were flying the shuttle where damage to a ship basically meant loss of the crew vs just sending another ship up. They had the capability with the shuttle but it was such an undertaking vs the setup that SpaceX uses when it comes to turn around time of their flight hardware.

Suni and Butch are NOT lost in space as the media has sometimes stated. But the psychological-emotional impact in adapting to this unexpected challenge can be addressed in a uniquely uplifting way. NASA should consider coordinating a Livestream Educational Event with they and young future astronaut teens across the planet. The media spin has been negative when this situation can actually prompt a positive - not just for the many worldwide youth whose space career aspirations are being now fuelled with concerns / questions, but for Butch and Suni's morale and sense of purpose by engaging with more than just their personal family members ... but the young members of their earthly human family hungering for understanding. Technical work alone will not sustain a human being in space. Human beings need integration with their earthly teammates in ongoing, meaningful ways.

NASA gave it a 1/98 chance of failure/loss of crew themselves which is definitely too risky for our current safety standards. Both Soyuz and Crew Dragon are likely much safer due to the LES and them being launched on rockets that has much better track records than the Space Shuttle.
