This film has literally changed my life. I can't watch it without getting teary eyed, honestly. The message behind it is just so powerful and beautiful and in the end, I'm left feeling so complete; so full of emotions and it's so amazing that someone was able to come up with something so intense, but so heartwarming. I'd love to meet the team responsible for this and thank them personally... This video will always hold a special place in my heart!
There are a couple places for the dead to go once they've died in Irish lore and mythology. One of them is Tir Na Nog, and is generally considered the home of Mannanan Mac Lir. You don't have to die to go there, so some people think the stories of going there are a bit of a representation of a life changing epiphany or journey. There's also the House of Donn which I've heard as translated as a type of resting place before you do whatever it is you're going to do after you die. There's also a concept of reincarnation in the old stories (which is seen with the grandma and grandpa when they turn into crows).

I had forgotten all about this short film. I remember watching such a long time. What an experience. Always fav of mine.
It made me remember an event of my life. When my grandmother died after four months of my grandfather's dead, I was so sad but when I realized he came looking for her, I became happy again. My feelings of that time came all together with this story.
This is great! I lost my grandmother when I was 10 yrs old. My grandfather died before i was born i think. I know that she is safe with him up in heaven.

i like how they used the idea of crows! when my cousin came from visiting France, she told me the stories about how people come back as crows.

My Aunt died on 8 October, 2011 at 06:43AM EST She was the most gentle, patient and kind person I have ever met. I am 44, she was 60.
I didn't come here because I searched for this video. I was drinking some beer and decided to drown my sorrows by watching my tiny list of sad videos and when I clicked on YT this was one of the videos on my top page.
I saw the name of this video and it intrigued me along with the art on the thumbnail.

Wow. There hasn't been many short film that made me cry, but this one did. What a beautiful way to cross over to the other side of life.
Actually great use of computer effects. I usually am a fan of old-school 2d hand-drawn stuff but that was a great combination of the two.

Agree. As beautiful and touching this movie is, it´s frustrating that the rights disclaimer appears in such big letters ABOVE the info about this piece of art. It´s like a painting covered with the letter "If you don´t wanna buy it, don´t look at it" It´s creatvity man - share it with the world!

Even the simplest of drawings can become life with just a right amount of shading & lighting...
I thought the animation was visually perfect! I also thought the video was gorgeously combined with its graceful music and calm setting. The almost sunset-y glow was wonderfully fit for the mood of the film. I also liked how this was based on Celtic mythology too!

I don't think this was being pretentious at all. The animation was beautiful, and it is rarely that you see watercolor incorporated into new animation, what with everything being 3D. It's a throwback to the early stuff, and the lighting and stark relief was just beautiful.
If you can't see the sincerity of the storyline itself, thru the 'crap', at least respect the artist's workmanship. That's where the true beauty lies.

Crows & ravens are my fav. birds, their spiritual lore, their intelligence, their 'knowing'. Lovely piece of thoughtful animation, going to check for more from this creator.....

Incredible movement. I found all the backgrounds to be a little "photoshop" looking, but that is just something that I personally dont care for, and it isn't even a big deal. I can't get over the character movement. It is so fantastic.
I really liked how the landscape looked dirty like it was drawn with a pencil. Some parts looked liked they were painted with watercolor and that was really pretty too.

Every time I watch this it makes me cry because it makes me think of my grandparents n how they work so hard just to put some food on the table and they're at the age of retirement already , n..n I just want them to stay here n never leave me .god I'll get so depressed if something ever happens to them
