The way Drew logically made out Canada was amazing 🎉
Ah man that was beautiful
No problem for geography expert.
I got Canada from the windsor-montreal corridor
Canada was one of the easiest ones to guess
i got from the massive southern line up
As a Dane I think it's about time our government did something about the "no data" situation in Greenland.
Just don't show it on maps at all. It's ocean now.

Something something independence?
(Yes, I know it's unrealistic lol)
You can sell it to the US and forget about this headache.
The US is broke. You couldn't afford it. Not only would you have to buy it, but also commit to giving them some billions in subsidy every year. And the Greenlanders don't even seem keen on exploiting their uranium and rare earth resources to become self sufficient.
2:08 Hong Kong, Macau and a bunch of surrounding cities are considered seperate cities, not to mention the area in general is pretty populated
it kinda looks like djibouti
Macau only has like 600k population, but Hong Kong is one of 4 cities in that clutter with more than 7 million inhabitants.
@@badaboum2, right, even without Hong Kong, that area has Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Foshan in China's top 15. Foshan is the smallest of those four and it was over 9 million in the last census, bigger than Hong Kong.
macau has like less than 600k people, so its hong kong, guangzhou, shenzhen and dongguan

Tokyo IS multiple cities. The PREFECTURE of Tokyo, which is roughly equivalent to a STATE in the US, only covers the main center and western bits of the city. The entire metropolitan area spreads far far far outside the borders of the prefecture, and the borders between Tokyo proper and it's surrounding cities are completely blurred to the point of being indistinguishable. It's the largest metropolitan area on earth
Debatable. The Pearl River Delta has 66 million residents. The Jiangnan region has between 40 and 240 million depending on your definition
@@appa609 either way my point is that Tokyo is definitely multiple cities when it’s referred to for its size.
@@WeyounSix That might be true for foreigners, but in Japan, "Tokyo" means either the 23 wards (cities) of Tokyo or Tokyo prefecture. We rarely (probably never) include the outer cities/prefectures. If we refer to the Greater Tokyo Area, we say 首都圏 (literally "Capital Area").
They could not partition Germany like Austria-Hungary because the latter was a multiethic state torn apart by nationalism while the first one was kept together by nationalism
10:10 The percentage of new electric cars sold in Norway is actually much higher, around 79.3% for 2022 and 83.5% so far for 2023. Its also worth noting that this is SOLELY pure electric, the hybrid market is around 15% with pure diesel/benzin making up roughly 5%. The amount of electric/hybrid cars make up roughly 36% of the total carpark. For Iceland the share of electric cars sold last year was 51.7% and has reached more than 70% so far for 2023
we know , but thank you norway , very cool
It's entirely due to the fact that the renewable energy source that Norway prefers is dependable hydroelectricity

7:16 saying the family name first in bavaria and Austria is something that only happens in colloquial situations and when speaking in dialect or dialectally-infused standard german. It isn’t a thing at all in official use

3:50 Morocco and Tunisia probably to have control of the Mediterranean. They would have ensured that by having another colony in the horn of Africa, dominating both entrances to the sea.
I actually despise this argument that Germany wasn't punished hardly because they weren't divided. The Ottomans and Austria were multi ethnic empires while Germany was very homogeneous with only a larger Polish-Sorbian minority. Why should such a country deserve to be divided more so or equally as much as countries where the ruling ethnicity is a minority themselve? In my opinion, that argument is premature.
they were divided
@@Sharksquad658 Not in WW1
It’s such an idiotic argument, because the harshness of the treaty Versailles led to radicalisation within Germany, thus causing WW2 . It’s idiotic to posit that harsher punishments would have been better.
Ty, I looked for that comment. Also germany actually did very well after ww1 until the depression. Then they spiralled.
@@auzee4925 It’s not an idiotic argument; it’s the oft-repeated “harshness of Versailles” Nazi-tier myth that is the true epitome of idiocy. Especially when it comes to reparations, the treaty was by no means harsh relative to other treaties at the time. The fact of the matter is that the treaty failed because it wasn’t enforced, not because it was enforced too harshly.
If you really want to look at what prompted the rise of German nationalism in the Interwar years, I’d encourage you to read about Dolchstoßlegende and the inherently flawed formation of the Weimar government. Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything other than a surface-level interpretation of common high school myths from Versailles decriers like you.

It's funny how the Panama one looks vaguely US-like.
Why Germany wanted Morocco is easy to explain... the Straits of Gibraltar they didn't want to be cut off from the Med by the British, I'm not sure why they wanted Tunisia tho maybe to ensure the British couldn't cut them off from the eastern Med via Malta?
I doubt anyone will see this but the naming map the purple wasn’t necessarily one given name it’s just every name was chosen by the parents I specifically know this from Rwanda
A fun fact about some Slavic countries' last name nomenclature is that the women will take on a modified version of their husband's last name when marrying (e.g. Jaroslav -> Jaroslava, Baňas -> Baňasova, Kováč -> Kováčová).
It's even easier with Polish. -ski and -ska

5:49 The no no germans in this timeline would've probably just had a movement to unite the broken up states to reform Germany, just like how the no no germans in our timeline tried to annex all german majority regions in Europe
Yeah maybe but Germany would have been under foreign occupation and it would have taken decades to achieve, if ever, much like after it was divided post-WW2. The division of Germany was the key to European peace.

Belgian here: the reason for why so few new cars are electric is company cars. There is a big tax incentive on company cars and up until last year there was no real benefit for going electric so people just stuck to what they were used to, but now ICE cars are still getting that tax incentive just way reduced. Also very little public infrastructure available for charging means even less incentive to go electric, but it's slowly getting rolled out (at least on or near highways). But the tide is going to turn in the next couple years, we're probably going to be up in the 40-50 range once people's leases are up and they have to start switching to electric to keep their tax benefits and hopefully the infrastructure will follow then as well.
In the Netherlands and Norway (and other countries) the government made sure the charging infrastructure was being built so that people would buy EVs. Meanwhile the belgian government had the brilliant idea to only accept applications for the installation of a public charger from people that had an EV already, when they didn't have 1 within 500 meters of their home.
Fortunately it's getting better now.
amazing as usual

My Aunt worked as a nurse on the US base at RAF Lakenheath (one of the West Sussex bases). We went bowling on the base once (there was no alley in the small nearby yown of Brandon) and it was like walking onto the stereotypical Hollywood depiction of a middling US town. Lakenheath wasnt even the largest base (I believe nearby Mildenhall, as the main transport base is) but it still functioned as its own self-contained community.
They had the F-15s located there which meant i soent a lot of time as a child staring out my uncle's windows at them.

On the US citizens in the UK thing, a lot of it may be due to the way American citizenship works; anyone born on American soil is born a US citizen. A lot of British people holiday (or vacation) in the US, mostly in Florida, visiting places like Disney World, and more of then than you'd think end up giving birth during the holiday. This exact thing happened with the younger brother of a friend of mine, not a hint of American in his voice, but a fully fledged US citizen, and able to vote in the State of Florida.
To be entirely honest this sort of thing can be a nuisance as the US taxes people based on citizenship not just residence. As a result people like my friend's little brother have to pay tax to the US, despite deriving no benefit from the services that those taxes pay for, on top of British taxes. And, while this is not taxation without representation, as a US citizen born in the US people life my friend's brother are allowed to vote, to be honest, being able to cast a vote in elections which are irrelevant, to someone living in the UK, who has never lived in the US despite being born there, are not worth the extra taxes.
I'd say it's kinda like taxation without representation, because what he can vote on does not represent him. I guess that's not exactly what it means, but the end result, as you end off your comment with, is the same.
Tbf, I'm pretty sure people living in America don't get much for their taxes either lol.
On a more serious note, can't he renounce his US citizenship?
@@wisefelipe They can, but the US government doesn't make it easy, and apparently the tax burden isn't a valid reason in, and of, itself.
Is there any reason that he even has to pay them? I highly doubt the US will track someone down in the UK.
If his job is in England, he’s living in England why would they have to pay American taxes? & What state does he pay taxes to? Just the state you were born in? That can’t be true, because most Americans don’t currently live in the state they were born in.

Petition for Drew to make a series covering Ace Combat and its multiple universes: [Day 295]
The CASA C-295 (now Airbus C295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. On 28 November 1997, the prototype performed its maiden flight; quantity production commenced shortly thereafter. In April 1999, the Spanish Air Force became its launch customer with an order for nine military-configured C-295s; two years later, the type was declared operational with the service. Further orders for the C-295 would promptly follow. Following the incorporation of CASA into the pan-European aeronautical group EADS in 2000, it was redesignated as the EADS CASA C-295.

I think the difference in EV adaptation in Europe has to do with policies around it. Alot of countries give financial aid to by an EV.
Nice!
I'm not sure, but I think Belgium has such a low number of electric cars, because most people dont buy their own car but get one from their work (which they can use for personal use). I suspect these don't count towards the percentage, since lots of these would've at least been hybrid.
2:32 Apparently one of Iceland's biggest cities is in the ocean. When I checked on Google Maps, it appears to bean island.
Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman empire were ethnic-states, they git carved up mostly on their different ethnic groups. Germany probably would've just re-unified if you broke it up

1:05 I thought “DEVIL VORTEX” when I saw this
Breaking up Germany after WW1 wouldn't have worked. The dismemberment of Austria-Hungary did not spark outrage in its territory for one single reason: the Empire was already a divided mess, kept together with super glue. Its people accepted the division because most of them were looking forward to it.
Germany was the opposite: a young nation brimming with national identity. Had the Allies forcefully broken it up, there would have been riots, and it would have reformed with a vengeance shortly after.

Exactly.
The Russia round (1:30) confused me because St. Petersburg should be much further east. It's certainly east of Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, and whatever that third dot is.¹ Even Moscow looks east of St. Petersburg here.
Moreover, Moscow, Kazan, and Yekaterinburg are all about the same latitude, with Yekaterinburg 1° further north. From the dots, it looked like Yekaterinburg was the southernmost of the three. Kaliningrad looks especially ridiculous.

It is odd that electric cars aren't more popular in the smaller countries. I mean, the big issue of electric cars is their lack of range, and long recharge time, but in smaller nations, most residents will be travelling less distance, negating the electric car's biggest flaws
I think it comes also to infrastructure and energy prices.
People are not really travelling further in bigger countries. I mean on a day to day basis the size of your country doesn't change anything and to go on vacation, you can cross borders as you want.
Really depends on what you mean for smaller countries. In the Netherlands the new cars sales have dropped, a lot. Also we have quite a significant part of the population that has a lease car from work, and those had the largest insurge of hybrids and electrics a few years back when tax laws where a bit more lenient (a lease car is considered part of your taxable income, but lower rates where used for hybrid, plug in hybrids and full electrics... which had the side effect where petrol and diesel Sedans where being replaced by Mazda CX'es with minimal electric range, so that ended).
Also a big issue is that even residential area's tend to be considerably more urbanized, where quite a lot of homes don't have a garage, a personal driveway or even a front garden big enough to house a car, making it more difficult to recharge.
As a central-eastern europe citizen I can tell : it is often because of price of electric cars compared to gasoline / diesel , as we dont make so much money like Norway or Germany , electric cars are very expensive for us here
