Nevada and Utah
Both are states in these United States, and other than the obvious similarities such as the fact that the official language in both states is English, here are a few other similarities
Both are right next to each other
Both have about the same population, the same amount of electoral votes, and are growing very quickly, at similar rates
In both states, the population density remains low
Both have similar climates
Both are mostly made up of desert, although Nevada is definitely is drier
Residents of Nevada and Utah have similar incomes and similar cost of living
Both are not dramatically different in size, and both have lots and lots of public land. Both states have more public land than all other states.
But... other than that, it doesn’t seem like there is much in common between the bordering states, which is a bit surprising.
First of all, Utah is younger. There are more kids there. In fact, a higher percentage of babies are born in Utah each year compared to all other states, not just Nevada. It also has the largest family sizes in the country. 47% of Nevada residents are married, compared to 57% of Utah residents.
Utah is more Caucasian. It has few minorities. Nevada, on the other hand, is much more diverse. Nevada’s Hispanic population is quickly approaching 30 percent of the state.
Utah is more educated. Whatever that means, right? Well, for the purposes of this video, that means they have a higher percentage of people who graduated from college and high school. 41% have a college education in Utah, compared to 32% in Nevada. Related to this, Nevada has a much higher poverty rate, which is around 21 percent. Utah’s is just 11 percent. Utah’s unemployment rate has been significantly lower than Nevada’s since 2003. Utah appears to have a much better health care system than Nevada. According to US News, Utah ranks #15 out of the 50 states for health care while Nevada ranks #37.
By most standards, Utah residents are much healthier than Nevada residents. Nevada has the worst ranking in the United States for immunizations and mothers receiving poor prenatal care. Its suicide rate is the second highest in the country. Meanwhile, Utah has the lowest infant mortality rate in the country, the lowest cancer death rate in the country, and the lowest percentage of adults who smoke in the country.
During the Cold War, the United States conducted 928 nuclear tests in Nevada, and 0 in Utah. However, Utah had plenty of “downwinders,” or people exposed to the nuclear fallout from these tests.
Politically speaking, Nevada residents generally lean to the left and Utah residents generally lean to the right. Nevada has voted for the Democratic candidate the last three presidential elections, while Utah has voted for the Republican candidate the last 13. If you dig deeper, you’ll find Nevada is extremely more libertarian compared to Utah. More on that in a bit.
Both states have very different histories. Utah was founded by Mormons, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a religion founded in the United States in 1830 by Joseph Smith. The Mormons had fled west to escape persecution back east. Today, Mormon influence is evident no matter where you go in Utah. The church has a huge influence on the state’s culture and traditions. This explains much of the strong family ties in the state, the outlawing of alcohol and tobacco, and the fairly boring nightlife.
Nevada, on the other hand, has the most exciting nightlife in the country. Las Vegas truly is the city that never sleeps.
Would you like me to turn this into a series? If so, what should I compare?
Mr. Beat I would love this to be a series. Hard to think what state you can compare Rhode Island with though since we tend to get the short end of the stick, even in New England. Perhaps you could compare Rhode Island with Delaware?

As a Utahn, I can tell you that the first question I get when I go anywhere is "Are you mormon?". I'm not, but they are great neighbors albeit a little prude.
Next question- "Do they really have horns?"
How tf did that ever become a rumor and how has it lasted this long???

Bikefiend I am from Vegas but live in st George for college and I have never met people so rude ever everyone is Mormon and are mean because they treat non Mormons like dirt don’t live in Utah but it’s great to visit and the drivers don’t even get me started on them
concusion007 I used to dislike the Mormons but since I quit drinking now I appreciate their culture. It’s their state, they developed it. Being a catholic I’m sure it wouldn’t be very welcoming for me and I’m also Hispanic so not sure how that would play but I sure like Utah.
Bikefiend I lived in st.g my whole life and I’m Hispanic and catholic too but everyone has been nice and respectful about it just like how I respect the Mormons. Although some Mormons or missionaries have talked to us about converting my family and I but we refuse.
concusion007 I have to disagree with you in the Mormons it depends on who it is, but the drivers really do suck. Haha

nevada is a LOT more fun and diverse.

So people want diversity over security? Ok cool. I love Nevada myself but I have to lock my doors even when I run into a gas station. Pretty sad. In Utah (lived there for a few years) I never once worried about even locking my doors at night or when I went out.
That makes Utah the Ned Flanders of America and Nevada the Homer Simpson of America.

Aye mate, there's a rather big error in this video, Alcohol and smoking aren't actually banned in Utah.
+Riley Weston No, alcohol used to be. I never said it currently was.
When was alcohol outlawed in Utah? Like in the 1920's like everywhere else in the U.S.? And when was tobacco outlawed?
Utah went through prohibition just like the rest of the US. It's alcohol laws are odd but drinking is just as legal as anywhere else. It's hard to knownutahnwhen you aren't from here.

I grew up in rural Nevada (Spring Creek/Elko area), which happens to be located relatively similar distances between Salt Lake City, UT, Boise, ID, & Reno, NV (where I currently live). Living in the Northern part of the state for 20 years and Reno for the past 4 years, I have come to enjoy the beauty of my home state that I call home, Nevada. Nevada is the most mountainous state, the northern region and tahoe area are both absolutely gorgeous, and you can choose to enjoy the outdoors or experience our one-of-a-kind nightlife. I have visted SLC numerous times, and I enjoy the area, along with the people who are kind and very prideful of their community. I have also been to St. George a few times and I appreciate it's unique environment. I have always called Nevada, the "wild west", due to the amount of personal freedom available in the state. Gun laws are very lenient, recreational marijuana with beneficial taxes for education can be purchased, alcohol & tobacco can be found 24 hours a day, no state income tax, gambling and prostitution is welcomed, and you can always find a dirt road leading to areas that are secluded, quiet, and open enough for any activity to be enjoyed. A few interesting facts about Nevada; it is one of the leading producers of gold in the world, despite being known as "The Silver State", the right to be publicly intoxicated is protected in the state, and it is home to the TOPGUN airbase and Area-51 test site. I love the state of Nevada and everything it has to offer and in a biased manner, prefer it over Utah. Oh yeah, I love to snowboard and Nevada shares with California, some of the finest world class skiing available. I'll take Squaw Valley and Northstar over Park City any day of the week, and often skiing in Nevada can be enjoyed as late as june and july, so that's a plus.
Sounds awesome what's the cost of living
@@shemmcgee6882 Definitely cheaper than California, that’s for sure! It’s even cheaper than Florida!

No complaints here
@Aperture Creator CEO I'm from utah and love nevada but not vegas what a hell hole
Besides the whole mention of diversity and nightlife. SLC has a really fun nightlife. The diversity thing disgusted me. I can go to SLC and 30% of the people I see are wearing gay pride shirts or they have an LGBTQ+ flag. I see people that speak other languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, etc. Utah used to be not very diverse. But statistics show that recently diversity has been on an uprise and it’s going fast.
Aperture Creator CEO fuck of. We know what fun is. Going to the bar at midnight in SLC, running every red light to get there, is pretty fun.
As a life-long Utah resident, the message seemed balanced. Your use of statistics and rankings was interesting. Thanks for your research, and keep 'these short videos coming!

I’m glad he was so respectful of the church. I love Utah! The people are amazing and the scenery is just gorgeous. I love to hike and Utah has got tons of great trails to go on 👍 the canyons and mountains are seriously beautiful
i hate the church, my best friend was raped in one by the pastor or whatever it is.
All they do is force religion
I love the way of life that the church promotes. It's what makes utah a great state to live in.
@maxwell If it happened the way your friend claims, then I'm sorry that the outcome was unjust. But it's not true to say women are always blamed. Men get excommunicated all the time for improper sexual relationships, including returned missionaries and bishops. From my observation, I believe men are more likely to face church discipline than women.
As someone who was formally a mormon, and currently lives in Utah, fuck the church and it’s toxic teachings.
This was pretty cool. I enjoy visiting Utah, but I love living in Nevada!
Love your channel Jacobslifeinvegas! I like Nevada but enjoy living in Utah.
Thanks for the shout-out. It's my favorite episode (partially because I don't have to hear my own voice, LOL).
There's a lot of depth to the difference between NV and UT. For instance, NV was UT until 1861. Mormons settled many NV places, and abandoned them rather quickly. This was especially problematic in the Shoshone north, where they suffered a few well publicized massacres leading to the Bear River Massacre in response (which was technically in modern Idaho, but is more a part of NV and UT history). Southern NV is almost a different place from northern NV, mostly because it was in the New Mexico and then Arizona Territories until 1868, and has maintained a different identity all along (UNLV calls themselves the Rebels b/c they seceded from Northern NV's UNR). BTW, UNLV has been rated as the most diverse college in the US because Southern NV is incredibly diverse (the incredibly fast growth of the Las Vegas Valley brought perhaps the most diverse population in the US), not so much for the north.
UT wasn't allowed in the Union, not because it is younger (she's older than NV by a decade), but because of polygamy. NV being separate from UT is basically because the Feds were spiteful of the Mormons (they had fought a war in 1857). There's also the factor that both states are the only ones completely within the Great Basin (except southern NV, but I already said north and south are very different).
One last thing, mentioning the mob as a component of gambling related to mining is kind of odd. NV's mining boom of the 1860s, with Virginia City, Aurora, and El Dorado Canyon was unrelated to the mob. The mob's later influence (late-1940s to early 1970s) was short-lived, had little impact, and is way too overplayed in the media. That overemphasis has become quite a sore spot for historians. They were essentially a leech on NV's economy, not a driver of it. While the legalization of gambling happened in 1932, that had more to do with taking advantage of the Hoover Dam project (which the Five Companies had lobbied for enforcement of the lax anti-gambling laws) than anything else. Until 1932 NV's gambling was hardly any different from Eastern UT gambling or any mining region really. It took over a decade before mobsters did anything about the legalization.
+The Cynical Historian Thanks for adding depth. Obviously, the video is just meant as an introductory glance.
Interesting read, thank you. Utah is not entirely within the great basin system though. Maybe only half the state is in the great basin. Most of eastern Utah, and a good portion of Southern Utah does not have any rivers flowing into the great basin. They all flow into the Colorado River basin. There are a string of mountain ranges through out Utah that divides the state this way. The rivers originating in the north slope of the Uinta Mountains in Eastern Utah for example flow into the great basin. The south slope of the Uintas flow into the Colorado River basin. The Same way with Nevada. The northern part of Nevada flows into the great basin, and the southern part into the Colorado River.
As for the great basin itself, parts of eastern California, Southern Idaho, and southwest Wyoming are also a part of the great basin drainage system. The Great Salt Lake is the largest lake in the great basin with no river outlet but it is not the only lake in the basin with no outlet.
I feel like utah is a bit bi polar were it can get really hot like Nevada but cold enough/ snowy enough to host the winter Olympics

Did you know that Las Vegas was settled by the LDS Church
Well something changed since then lol.
It wasn’t settled by the church. It was settled by Mormons. There’s s difference in that it wasn’t a church goal to settle it.
@@Hala-ataa Actually, the original settlement was a group of LDS missionaries and their families sent here by the church. The original purpose of the settlement was to create an outpost within the then territory of Deseret, (later to be trimmed way down and become Utah,) and a good will mission to the native Paiute tribe, which went well at first. With the lack of provisions, dissension amongst the group and tensions with the tribe, they were told to return to Utah leaving behind the settlement, later taken over by the U.S. Army, (who added the railroad,) then other settlers and so on.
So, yes, it was actually originally settled by the church, just not an over all successful effort.
Bison Stampede I did not know that. I thought it was settled by Mormons who needed an outpost for the gold rush.
@@Hala-ataa
Though that was a part of the purpose, since Deseret originally reached the coast of what is now California somewhere around the L.A. area, another reason this particular place was chosen for the mission was because of its lead/silver resources, (a third task given to the group,) as well as the fact that it was a beautiful wetland oasis in the Mojave Desert, hence the name Las Vegas or The Meadows in English. Problem is that in Mt. Potosi, there's too much lead in the silver, and too much silver in the lead to make either mining operation successful with the smelting techniques of the time. That would later be accomplished by other miners who were among the first settlers to arrive after the Army stopped using the outpost because of the decline in the gold rush fever and the resulting decrease in the need for patrols to control the miners. When Nevada became a state in 1864 there were more mountain men residing in the area than any other demographic hence the very different direction Nevada went from Utah.
The fact that Utah is a very Caucasian state can also be explained. After Mormon pioneers settled there, many were asked to proselytize (do missionary work) throughout not only the US, but many also went to England to preach. Because of this, many of the early Mormon settlers *were* English and a significant amount of their posterity remained in the territory. In fact, if you look up most common ancestory by state, utah has its highest percentage in English ancestors.
Another fun fact: Las Vegas was first settled by Mormons as a mining town. However, all the wealth from mining attracted the gambling types... making Vegas the city that it is.
Looks like I commented too early... should've watched the entire video first
Another fun fact: Las Vegas has a Mormon Temple, and a very devout group of Mormons.
Am Utahn. Can confirm. Outside of north america, my ancestors are almost entirely from the British isles. Most of the exceptions are from main-land Europe.
Utah has a very large group of people of Scandinavian decent. Some are of German ancestry. Later the converts to Mormonism, for the most part, did not cone to Utah or even the United States, Today there are more Mormons leaving outside the United States than inside if it.

Also, I have found in my 10 years living in Vegas that it is only a 24hr town in the touristy areas. Try finding a 24 cafe off strip of out of downtown. Only at a casino.
The rest of Clark County still enjoys later closing times than the rest of the country, though.
Yeah that would be awesome
drpattiethomas don't forget that the strip is not in Las Vegas.
Also, I remember the great area code debate :-p. Granted I've lived here since I was an infant in 1981 :-P
2:25 those people are real Utahns lol we only wear coats on the slopes and literally nowhere else
There is no humidity so it feels nicer than most of the US
True lol
Bob Donnitagain what’s wrong with humidity?
sasquatch 747 more water vapor which means when cold it makes it feel alot colder and when it is hot it makes the heat index alot higher which is hotter than what it feels in Utah
Bob Donnitagain but at least my throat and nose don’t get dry. You can always stay inside anyway.

Who is tah? Lol idk lolol
As a former Utah resident you forgot about the suicide rates are sky high
Utah suicide rates are high? Why?
Holly Dee tbh idk, but my theory is because people get married at young ages, divorce, get depression, and end it all.
@@SallyVno After I heard this I looked it up. Utah is seriously top 10 suicide states, even NY and East coast is toward the bottom. I watch a channel about a Utah based Mormon family. They seem very nice, very happy. Everyone seems nice and happy in Utah. I know, silly of me to believe in what they present in a CZcams channel.
I’ve lived in both states. I’ve got to say that although Nevada was an amazing view to see, Utah is pretty calming knowing I don’t keep hearing crackheads or drunks yelling or fighting. But I really loved both.
The crystal meth problem is getting bad up in SLC tho.

From Utah and I love it. I'm part of the Tongan-American community out here.
I hate how the Tongan communities get overlooked in Utah, all people talk about are white people Mormons and no black people, but we've got a huge Tongan community
@JP McCray lol thank the LDS church for that. Dont be like the Mormons had nothing to do with the Polynesian community coming to Utah .
James Longstaff I work at Temple Square and get to hear all the ways that you can be racist in Utah. If you’re Tongan, they love you because you’re big and friendly. Everyone else is probably a criminal and should not only learn English, but don’t believe in Jesus and shouldn’t be here. I’m an import and it’s horrendous to witness.
Awesome! I love both states. Both are unique and balance each other out quite nicely.
Living in Utah currently. I'd say it's class, very nice cities and neighborhoods.
Bianca Lynch other than slc, orem and Provo 😂
Yeah
The getto areas in Utah are like the nicer areas of California and I ain’t saying this to make it up it is fairly true
To be fair we did pass medical marijuana in Utah...
The problem is the Mormon Church won stay put of politics and keeps trying to change the bill
They ruined it!
We didnt pass it we just said we wanted it
Realbeavers123 Gaming it was put to vote and it passed, that means it passed
SLC represent! (not Mormon though)
I didn't know you lived there! Yeah, I hear SLC is more diverse than most people think it is.
Well, much of Utah is more diverse than it's given credit for. Some parts of Utah, yes, 99-100% non-black. But when you factor in Hispanics, Asians, and Pacific Islanders, you'd be surprised at how diverse the "white" areas actually are.
Good point. And "white" can really mean all kinds of ethnic groups, determining on the criteria.
SLC is extremely diverse and LGBT friendly, not to mention only 30-40% Mormon. Stereotypes are irrelevant, around here.
I live in slc
Updated title: Clark County Nevada and Utah compared
Where 2/3 of the state's population lives
Well, then wassatch front and Clark county compared. 80 percent of Utahns live there, and it's about the size of Clark county, but has several counties and more people
Prostitution is legal in Nevada but illegal in Clark county (Vegas).
I’ve lived in both Nevada and Utah, and a I say you got the facts down pretty well. I would love it if this became a series, whether you stick to states or do more things, I really enjoyed it.
Don't mind me.Just someone who lives in Colorado coming through the comments
PS:I think Utah is better than Nevada
Itz Pro No Nevada is better 🅱️
PureMeth If we are looking at general quality of life or razing a family, statistics in this video show that Utah is the way to go.
But I guess in the end it really comes down to personal preference if you prefer temples or bars.
Jim Caponzi Yah those Mormons are infectious. They say with just one touch, your child will forever be devote to Mormonism and will be lost forever.
Truly there isn’t a worse fate then meeting a Mormon.

Mr. Beat, you make amazing videos! I've been watching several of your videos lately, and after the Iceland vs. Greenland one, this one came on autoplay. This video was actually shown in one of my graduate courses last year! I did a year's worth of medical school (left it as I realized it was not for me), and in my medical ethics class, my professor showed this video to highlight differences between Utah and Nevada. This was before I'd started watching videos from your channel, so I didn't know that it was you. But, when this video came up in my recommended videos yesterday, I was astounded!
Your videos are of such good quality that professors show them in graduate-level classes. I think that's a major testament to how well they hold up.
Thanks for sharing this video.
I also noticed that you made sure to use the correct name for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormons). Thanks. 😊 👍
You can still have fun in Utah, you just need to know where to look.
Plus without a hangover, you're nights will be more memorable. 😉
New York is the city that never sleeps.
And Las Vegas, trust me, you can drink in public here, no last call for alcohol, and a great night life.
Vegas is lol been a resident since I was 6 years old
I like being able to go out any time I want, especially during the summer when it is too hot during the day.
As a Utahn who had to get medial treatment in Las Vegas; Don't go to Vegas!
I broke my ankle and the Surgeon in LV said, "We're not sure what to do about your ankle. But we have a few ideas."
The head of Nursing at the UMC in LV was amazing and she really helped.
I had my surgeries done at my hospital in Salt Lake.
3:30 It is a huge and annoying fact that the mormons control so much of our local government, they basically tell their followers how to vote, and they will. Alcohol and tobacco are not outlawed, however they are heavily regulated, with alcohol being gov controlled.
4:45 True.
Anyway, cool vid!
Grew up in Carson City, living on SLC. At this point I kinda wish I could live in both.
Move to Wendover. It's right on the border!
@@eleanorswan2288 Ive been to Wendover many times, its the best place to see the cultural difference between Nevada and Utah since there is West Wendover, Nevada and Wendover, Utah. Both suck though
As a Utahn, I can say you're pretty right.
Agreed
From Utah, yep sounds about right. Do Washington and Oregon
I actually already did a video comparing Oregon and Washington lol
Born in Texas, moved to Utah. Honestly don’t know why everyone loves it here so much. It’s like they’ve never been out of state.
How is Utah bad? I’m not arguing. I’m just asking.
I used to think Utah was boring. Now that I have a family I appreciate its values, morals and safety. Utah is a great place to live and raise your family. Hope it stays a Red state 🙌🏻
You should do something like this with Northern Culture vs Southern culture (Michigan, Wisconsin etc vs Texas,Alabama etc)

Joseph smelly smith?? 🤣 did you just make this profile up on the fly or are you a genuine card carrying, club dues paid Mormon hater, very possibly former Mormon?
This was awesome. I love how you didn't talk smack on any of the states, you just compared facts. Great video.
Thank you very much for another interesting "compared" video, Mr. Beat! Nevada is a beautiful state and I think that every American should visit Las Vegas at least once in their lifetime. I would never want to live there though. Utah however, is a state that I would definitely want to spend more time in and could see myself living in. I'm a Lutheran myself, but I think that Utah is a great state and that the members of the LDS Church are decent, good and honest people.
Greetings from Washington State :-)
Firstly, just visited Washington past summer, beautiful place.
Secondly, if you want to live in Utah, all I care about is that you aren't mean to church members. That is the quickest way to get us to hate you.
He briefly touched on it in this video, but Latter-day Saints have not had a good experience with people who don't like our church.
If you don't insult aspects of our faith, and are generally kind, we'll like you. Something you need to be prepared for is if people like you, they will evangelize you.
Having served a mission for the church in Florida, I got a much more nuanced understanding of when it's appropriate to share beliefs, but many members lack this.
Understand that if they do this, it is not because they devalue your faith, but because they are so passionate about their own. If this makes you uncomfortable, just smile and say you're not interested, but thanks anyway. Most people will be fine with that.
Moving away from all that, Utah has some beautiful places to visit and a good amount of things to do. We have miles upon miles of hiking trails just in northern Utah alone, not to mention our five national parks in Southern Utah (Zion and Arches are the best).
Skiing and winter sports are popular here, but be prepared to spend a chunk of change if you're going to one of the larger resorts. There's also a lot of reservoirs for water sports, as well as lake Powell.
One of the things though right now with Utah is its growth. Salt Lake is growing, but most people would rather work there than live there, so a bunch of us live north or south of Salt Lake.
This means finding a place to live at a good price can be a bit hard, but I doubt it's anything like California. St. George I've heard is a growing area that's nice enough if you don't mind the heat.
Utah I think has nice enough weather. It doesn't get crazy hot during the summer if you're in the north, but winter can be a bit scattered, where some years like this year it'll snow from mid January into mid March.
Spring and Fall though can be extremely nice. Only problem is in winter, where the more urban areas have "the inversion" and all the smog gets trapped. This year hasn't been so bad, but I'm up in Cache Valley at the far north of the state - very nice place, but can get really cold in winter.
As for jobs, Utah is doing pretty well for itself. Even working from home being more common aside, you'll be able to find a wide array of stuff going on here, particularly business stuff.
Phew. That was a long bit of advice. It sounds like you would enjoy Utah though. If you don't care about they nightlife, Utah is a nice place to live, especially for raising a family.
I remember when I served my mission in Florida, someone told me that when they went to Utah, something shocked them - that all the children in a neighborhood were outside playing together. Made me simultaneously happy and sad that we have that, but other places don't.
Fun fact Utah is the number 1 fastest growing state right now.
I served in St George as a church missionary and a lot of people would tell me they have no idea why they moved to Utah but that a lot of their neighbors were new as well
Did the math on this real quick we grew 1.91% so far in 2019. Thats a crazy rate of change for a little more then half way through the year.
Ayeeeee UTAHHHHHHH! Lived here now for 19 out of the 19 years I’ve been alive😂
One thing you got wrong was the nightlife. In comparison to Vegas, any city is going to be considered boring lol. It's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be.
Nate Oveson Nope sorry worse😟
It's bad
That might be true, but what are people able to do on Sundays?--It's like people from Utah live only 6 days of the week and hibernate on the 7th day.
Jason Platt That’s the goal 😂
Battle Born and Raised. Just happy to hear you pronounce Nevada correctly. I was also happy to hear you mention that our political stance is more libertarian. I would agree, our states political views are very mixed. It likely depends where you are in the state the southern portion of Nevada (Henderson, Vegas area) for example leans more to the left while areas like Yerington, Fallon would lean more to the right.
I moved from st George to las vegas... big mistake... Red states are sane and peaceful.
Originally from Salt Lake City, used to go to Vegas every year (been to Reno as well). I now live in Denver but can confirm this is pretty spot on.
I find it interesting how you mentioned Nevada's suicide rate, but not Utah's, which is also high up there. And also, Utah's suicide rate has been increasing rapidly since 1999 while Nevada's remains mostly the same or even lower.
And... Do you know why? Its because (Alot anyways) Of the Mormons. LGBTQ+ People constantly receive Crap and stuff for being who they want to be. Im serious. It sometimes gets so bad people commit Suicide. Most of these kids are teens having to deal with it! HORRIBLE.
@@cassidyb195 you know in a spiritual aspect.
Satan is trying his best to destroy us. But, in reality it brings us closer together.
@@coryjarrett2952Yes, because nothing brings us closer together than being scared out of your mind to join a cult. Absolutely disgusting! Guess what? One of my friends who lived in Utah became Mormon because no one wanted to be her friend so she pretty much had to join. She didn't want to join in the first place, this just proves Utah's society is horrible. You seriously wouldn't understand the horrible social pressures you have if you don't join the cult in Utah.
Ok, let me get this straight. So Utah is more educated, more family oriented, has happier, healthier people, a better economy, less poverty, and stricter laws for the safety of it's citizens. And that makes it...boring, right?
Whereas Nevada has less education, more poverty, legalized prostitution, drugs and gambling, and much higher suicide rates. And that makes Nevada the place to go for a good time, right?
Give your head a shake, my friend.
Yup. Nailed Utah. I'm one of few that isnt a member of the church and is mostly liberal

Nevade and Utah are like identical twins with opposite personalities.
As a Nevadan, this was a bit disappointing. It was more like Las Vegas vs. Utah. Most people don't realize there are more cities in Nevada than just Vegas. Of course, they're not as ritzy and big, but Reno has it's own charm. Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada are almost two different areas. I always tell people that want to visit there that Northern Nevada is for people who want to be outdoors whereas Vegas is for people who want to drink and gamble. There is so much more to my state than Vegas.
As a fellow Nevadan you are 100% more correct
Doesn’t matter, almost any part of Utah is better for outdoors than Northern Nevada. The Silver state has some cool places to see, but it’s mostly dry and ugly. Utah may be dry, but it has some of the most iconic landmarks in the US
