Well, I live in Brazil, but to know the Highlands is an old dream of mine... These wonderful songs are ideal to hear when drinking a single malt whisky...
30 years ago I was touring Scotland (and the UK) on my Harley that I shipped over . I was camped out in the Highlands and woke up one morning making coffee on my camp stove when out over the hills came floating the sound of bagpipes. I could tell they were a long way off but the sound was so hauntingly beautiful ! I had never really appreciated them until that moment. After I broke camp and rode off, I came upon a man out in the middle of nowhere in full regalia playing those pipes. That’s one of my most favorite memories of Scotland. Thank you for this video.
We just loved reading this! It's such an amazing memory and thank you for sharing that! :)
That's beautiful and a true memory, one you won't forget. I have yet to go visit. My ancestors go back to the 11th Century there. Borthwick Castle still stands today and is a bed and breakfast. But I'd love to camp out as well. I can't wait
Am so jealous and happy for you at the same time for that incredible memory!
Hauntingly beautiful. Sounds like something one can only wish. What a beautiful memory.
Today, on fantasies that never happened.. but the story is cool nevertheless.
This is the type of music that makes your heart yearn for a homeland you’ve never been to, but hope to return to someday.

Why not ? Come with me to Scotland
I'm German and visited Scotland by motorcycle last year and I have to say, in my heart I must be scottish! The music reminds me of the Green hills, the rough weather and sea and the endless blue sky with big clouds!
Doubt you were a Scot or you would not have forgotten to leave out the capital "S" in Scottish (as you were sure to have remembered the capital "G" in German) laddie!
Geez, the grammar police😂, English is his second language and speaking two languages is awesome. Anyway the Saxon/German and Scandinavian folks have inhabited and inter married with the Island folk many moons ago . NW Europeans share much culture, genetics and language similarities so much that we are all stirred by the Pipes. I am an American mut with mostly English ancestry but I have a bit of Scottish, Swedish and pinch of German.
And this music stirs my soul like no other.

Until about eleven years ago, I had no idea how much Irish and some Scottish was in our family. I was very surprised. I never understood why I always felt, and still feel, so much affinity for that area. It must be a preview of heaven. 😊

Many years ago, while still serving in the US Army, I was fortunate to visit a British Army post on the coast of Wales. It was my honor to meet a Warrant Officer, a Scotsman of great character and honor. As my heritage has some Scots blood, I am most fond of the pipes that so melodiously sing the tales of Scotland. Brave are the people, proud is the heritage, deep is the wisdom, eternal is the glory. Scotland The Brave, may ye always be free.

Growing up there was an old gentleman named Jim that lived right down the road from the house. One of my favorite things to do was to go fishing down at the creek not too far from his house. He had a spot in the back of his land by the creek where he would play the bagpipes. It didn't matter if I ever caught anything just getting to hear him play was enough. He was a rough old man that didn't care much for people and didn't like anyone on his property but him, his wife Jeane and their two German shepherd dogs Max and Bozo. Jeane was the sweetest woman in the world, she would talk your ears off if you would let her and she always greeted and saw you off with a hug. That must have been 35 years ago in time from today to those memories. Years later I settled down not to far from where I grew up and still go to the same creek now. Though sadly his property has long since grown over and there is not music of bagpipes that play except in my memory.
Thank you for telling your wonderful story 💚 I have Scottish heritage...the McKee clan...I hope to visit one day soon

How stirring the bagpipes are. Stirs my Scottish heritage in Australia. Have never had the opportunity to visit my ancestral lands, but hope to one day.🦘🐨😁
My father used to tell of hearing bagpipes played in the Malayan jungles in the Pacific chapter of World War 2 when he was made a P.O.W. in Changi after The Fall of Singapore. Said it scared the Japanese soldiers who'd never heard such instruments before, but it helped keep the Allied prisoners' spirits up!

Scotland will always be on my bucket list. It was one place my husband wanted to see. Unfortunately he past away before he could.. I hope to go to Scotland one day for him.
If you do come over to Scotland, the west coast is by far the most beautiful, generally best in Aug & Sept. Aviemore & Fort William are 2 of my favorite when I go over the west coast, they are also good jumping point to see some of the areas shown in this video, Ben Nevis and the Ring of Steall (Mamores Mountains) Glen Finnan, Mallaig, Cullin Hills on Skye.
The NC500 is a beautiful drive that we have done many times.
Don't underestimate how much time you will need if you want to cram in as much of the west coast and the main cities (Edinburgh & Glasgow), we are a small country but it always surprises tourists the time it takes to get around it.
Please go you will not regret it that is from an English man I spent many a holiday in Scotland I want to go back again before I die its beautiful in the Highlands x
Please do sis… never keep things for tomorrow :) 🙏

Of all places I first heard a bagpipe being played was in Arizona. Was a foggy spring morning and I was out having a smoke in the backyard when I heard the most amazing sounds come drifting out of the fog. Must have stood there some twenty minutes listening before whoever it was wandered off. To this day I tip my hat (as it were) to that odd piper and give thanks when I hear such sounds. I lived Bowels Hall my first semester at UC Berkeley (1989) My room was on the top floor facing the back. On weekends when I stayed in to study a man, in full regalia would play the bagpipes in the mist & fog that covered the hills behind the hall. I’m Hispanic and grew up in the Central Valley of California but have always loved this music. I didn’t want to break the magic but always yelled: You play well Highlander! So grateful for those moments. Thank you Highlander. You played well. When they bury me they will play 2 songs on the bagpipes. One happy, one sad.
Yo, Hermano! Como esta! That was a really touching experience! Now, so long as that Highlander DOESN'T go around swinging a sword & beheading people while screaming "There can only be ONE!", then I guess he's an A-OK guy!

New Mexican here. There was a man playing the bagpipe at our park a few years back. Practicing away from the neighbors or wife I bet. I would listen and enjoy. Gorgeous scenery and music, thank you so much, Scottish people!
❤
My heritage is Irish and Scottish, this scenery is so beautiful I will have to travel Scotland in the future.
Do it now.
Like I told the other young man-- do it now before you get old.
Time vanishes before you can see it.
You'll never be more ready than today!
Bagpipes make me cry they have such a strong feel to the heart. ❤

Gorgeous scenery and music, thank you so much, Scottish people!. Bagpipes have always called to my soul ️.
I'd love to visit Scotland. But if I ever got there I may not want to come back to America.
When I hear and feel the pipes and drumbeats I also feel the presence of my father and kin that have passed and hopefully await me...not too soon though da but soon enough.
Bagpipe music is pleasing. Best kind of music. Mr. X
