It's a reality that many Bollywood hit movies are actually remakes of Malayalam movies.
    Here are some notable examples:
    1. Drishyam (2015)- Remake of the Malayalam film "Drishyam" (2013).
    2. Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Manichitrathazhu" (1993).
    3. Bodyguard (2011) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Bodyguard" (2010).
    4. Gardish (1993) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Kireedam" (1989).
    5. Hera Pheri (2000) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Ramji Rao Speaking" (1989).
    6. Billu (2009) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Kadha Parayumbol" (2007).
    7. Dhamaal (2007) - Inspired by the Malayalam film "In Harihar Nagar" (1990).
    8. Chup Chup Ke (2006) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Punjabi House" (1998).
    9. Kyun Ki (2005) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Thalavattam" (1986).

When a film like Laapataa Ladies hits the 100 crore mark at the box office, we will get more quality content. Otherwise, producers will keep making formulaic, old stuff.

As a movie lover, my two cents. I prefer to watch realistic movies, not a super star movies with 3-5 action scenes and item songs. In this sense Malayalam movies are better because their script writing done by best writers, like MT vasudevan, padmarajan etc. their 80‘,90‘s movies are too good due to this. Due to ott platform now we can watch good Korean,Japanese,Spanish,French quality movies as well. So focus on the content of the movie

As a matter of fact, Malayalam films were always good. We won the maximum national awards, we made the first neorealist film in India, we made the first 70mm movie, and the first 3D film. That film was not only technically surprising but also showcased the quality of content. Our Directors, actors have a habit of winning national awards. We come up with great stories, but after the OTT platforms, we got a newer audience and worldwide acclaim. That's it.

The biggest factor that makes Malayalam Movies the best is not as people say the writers, directors, cultural connect, small budget. It is its audience.
Malayalis are the best film critics in the country. They don't think twice in discarding bad films even if it is made by the biggest stars or biggest directors.

13:40 bollywood should not loose the masala formula, it's when Malayalam cinema added masala formula to the good stories it started to reach much more people and made good box office,
Like avesham, or hridyahariyaya pranayakadha, or guruvayoor ambala nadayil.
Malayalam cinema is experimenting masala formula
