      Thanks both of you!! You could make an argument that some looseness/wobblyness adds to the experience 🤣🤣🤣🤣
      If we end up racing the bike and super pushing it I would definitely look at getting one. Our local track has a notoriously bad surface but at the end of the day it wasn’t too bad! The suspension handled the surface surprisingly well. WP make a great kit!

    bike handles incredibly well, brakes are amazing....need to get my suspension dialed, its a bit harsh on the street...ive messed with clickers in all settings but havent found one yet, comfort setting is a lil too loose but more compliant, it takes time......i changed the oil in my steering damper to 20wt and that did make a pretty big difference.....the tires are like gorilla glue on pavement, nothing but confidence......for a stock bike its impressive
    like you said its a master in the corners, finding and holding lines is so effortless....

    What do ou think about ground clearance (footpegs) is it a must have to change the rearsets?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks man! I think it’ll depend on your height, it wasn’t a huge problem for me after a few laps but you definitely have to be just a bit more aware of your foot position; so maybe that’s actually a good thing?
      Aftermarket rearsets are always pretty trick though. 😂

      Thanks Dukie! Ohh haha sorry for the confusion. I was stating how nicely the tire was wearing. I am absolutely blown away at how good the Michelins were, I felt comfortable on them immediately. I’m sure we can get a few days out of the Michelins before going to slicks!

      @@vtranmoto that's great to hear. I can't afford an RC8C (not like there's any for sale anyway), but a 890R sounds like a great package for some track fun.

      @vtranmoto  Před 2 lety

      @@piasob you really can’t go wrong with the Duke 890R or the Street Triple RS as a dual purpose: street and track bike. If you’re going to do more track than street, I’d recommend a proper sportbike, but if street is where you’re spending most of your time, you can’t beat the comfort and style of the naked bikes! :D

      @@piasob 400 is where it’s at, it’s super popular class in the CMRA. I have thought about jumping into that class as well but I have a different lightweight bike coming soon 😁😁😁
      Between my brother and I we’ve had like 3-4 different Street Triple Rs over the years and still have a Speed Triple RS. Between the Streety and the Duke for 50/50 duty…I’d pick the Duke 😁 the torque is stupid fun and the community is also really fun and there’s tons of Duke 890 graphics kits (just Google that) to keep the look fresh and interesting.

    What do you think of this versus the Aprilia RS660 on track?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem +1

      It totally depends on you and your goals with track. Are you looking to eventually club race? If so, I’d recommend the 660 because most club racing classes have been updated to accommodate for the 660. The 890 will race mostly against 600-750 super sports which it can do ok against, but it’ll be hard work. Andy Dibrino frequently races his 890 in club races as an expert and does very very well, but then again, the guy is one of the fastest dudes in the US.
      Do you have any shoulder/mobility issues? If so, maybe the naked bike is more ergonomic and comfortable to ride.
      Will it be dual purpose: street and track? If so, perhaps the Duke makes more sense. If purely track and the goal is to go to Advance and eventually club race, then I lean toward the 660.
      Both are great bikes in their own ways for sure!

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem

      I’d do an 890 unless you go to COTA only 😁; 890 is really fun and agile for track riding and tbh can easily hang with advance group riders, unless you want to club race then maybe consider a full on sportbike. But the 890 can easily do double duty as street bike and advance paced track bike 👍

    Are you using michelin power 5 tyres?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem +1

      The Michelin Power Cup 2s, they worked really really well for a street tire. No warmers needed, but definitely give it a lap or two to warm up, I almost high sided out of the pit lane when I had bit of lean angle and whacked the throttle lol. But once they’re up to temp, they feel just about as good as the Pirelli Trackday Tire (not the proper race slicks).

  • @sumosevn
    @sumosevn Před rokem +1

    when you say track trim/race trim. What is actually removed from the bike to get it to 370lbs? Also, are those racer gloves?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem

      Track trim is pretty different than race trim, track usually just means you tape up the lights and mirrors. Then it’s pretty much track ready.
      Race trim, usually implies removing *all* the street parts:
      Mirrors, lights, kickstand, license plate bracket, and even the horn
      Then you’ve got the full exhaust system
      Some people remove abs units
      Then safety wire everything
      Change the coolant
      for naked bikes add a belly pan and swap the headlight unit with the number plate
      Remove all excess wiring
      For more weight savings you could swap to forged aluminum wheels which are typically 30% lighter than cast aluminum. Carbon is lighter but typically not allowed in club racing.
      Finally, you could swap all the oem plastics with carbon for that final few tenths 😅
      Yep! They are indeed Racer Gloves, good eye! It’s been my favorite pair of gloves for a long while. I also thing they’re the best racing gloves value wise so I keep coming back to them! 👊
