  • Useful if you need to replace some delicate bits on 28mm models. Also works for making cable or chain for tanks from 15mm to 1/35th scale.

Typically I am a little skeptical about these kinds of things. But, I tried it using a miniature pearl drill and it works absolutely perfectly. Thank you.

This is one of the best processes I've seen in a long time. I've been looking for a way to make rigid ropes for a diorama base and this really saved me the time of having to sculpt them out of green stuff.

I go to the dollar store and buy cheap costume jewelry and use a chain for chain,I can also take the gold plaiting off with Clorox bleach and you get a nice aged chrome look,or you can take a mixture of 50%paint and 50%thinner and blacken the look of it.

Perfect timing on this video. I've been meaning to make some ropes for a few of my models.

Because you would end up with a tiny loop at the end where the bend had taken place, the wrapping up of the wire would not continue evenly all the way up to this point. In order for it to look right you would end up cutting this tiny loop off. By cutting it off your left with two separate pieces anyway.

I'd say good luck! Too fiddly for me to try. Wrap wire around something like a paperclip then use clippers to clip off the rings.

Nice demo. I try to pick up broken chain from charity shops, that they cant sell, and give a small donation.

Billing Boats has chain that small already, besides most ropes are made from three parts in real life (it´s trickier but looks better than just using two pieces of wire).

What would you say about making the links of the chains themselves and stringing them together so you have some dangly bits?

Why not instead of cutting two pieces of equal length just cut one piece of double length and bend it in the middle?

Incidentally old school orthodontists use this technique to make bonded lingual retainers for their patients

I need to fix the haft of a broken spear. Putting only the glue isn't enough, so I'd like it to bind it with a rope like this, anf fix it with more glue.

You can try, but it would work better if you cut off the spear, drill out the hand, and replace the whole thing with brass rod.

I would assume the same I wonder tho if you got thinner wire and used 4 strands if it would give you a better effect
