I Vote keep stuffing taxes! I am independent also and I always over stuff so I can give myself a "return". It's always nice, and we always need it for something, a summer trip or a house upgrade.
Emily, you can do with your “old bills” what I tried today and it worked! Put them through the laminator. 😂 I tried it on 3mil heat setting and it crisped them right up but did not mess them up!

When I was a server years ago and cash tips were still the norm, I used to iron my money. I only did a bank deposit once a week and wanted my money to be pretty instead of a crumbled mess like in my apron. The laminator sounds like an even better method!
The taxes envelope inspires me, strangely. It's wonderful to see you accumulate that much money in such a short time. I usually wonder how you keep track of this many envelopes, I just barely scrape by with my two binders of large category sinking funds and monthly spending haha

Yea I don’t think there’s anything wrong with stuffing taxes. I do it. It’s nice when you get some money back from that savings haha. Place holders are fine :)

With your sinking funds, do you ever move money if you have way more than needed in one envelope? For example, if your pet care envelope gets to an amount that’s well over what you think you’ll need, do you take some of that and move it to another category or a savings challenge?
That’s never happened to me 🙈 but if I did end up with plenty of cash in an envelope, I usually just stop stuffing that envelope and put that money elsewhere 🖤

As soon as I withdraw my cash I go home, stuff my envelopes and put them on a lock box until I need a certain envelope

I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that because I’m not a CPA 🙈 I just do what my tax lady tells me to do! I would recommend talking to a CPA!

I carry my wallet with me (the tan one) and leave all my other binders at home in a safe. I pull cash from them as needed but always only carry my wallet.
I don’t cash stuff my bills so I can’t speak to that! I think most people are a month ahead and so they cash stuff for their bills all month and then deposit on the first so that they are covered and then start cash stuffing for the next month
Do u have any envelopes for car stuff. Or dental bills or medical expenses or vacations?

I’ve never heard of digital cash envelopes! I personally need the money to be tangible, but it’s honestly completely up to you!

We don’t stuff bills at this point in our journey. In order to do that, we’d have to be a month ahead and right now all of our extra money is going towards debt. Once we pay off our debt, we’ll start saving to be 6 months ahead and I’ll start stuffing for that 😊

Do you find it hard to pay for things in cash?! I attempted this method but I had trouble with businesses not taking the cash and ended up just having to use my cards.
I’ve never had a business not take cash, with the exception of the excel energy center in Minneapolis 🖤
