I feel very lucky that I have a gas station near me that has ethanol-free 93 premium. I've been running this gas in my small engine lawn equipment and most of the time in my motorcycle for about 7 yrs now. I never drain or clean any of my small engine lawn equipment carburetors. They just run fine and I think it's because of this clean clean gas.
small local airports are nice for 100 octane low lead no ethanol just remember this phrase " i have an ultralight at the farm "
😂😂😂 they don’t question you here in Alaska
4:41 Thanks Block, didn't need my hearing today hahaha
Your channel has good info! Keep it up
Thanks Block and Blockhead Crew. I clicked the thumbs up button so hard with author-i-TIE! Great insight and great science!!
Well that was pretty cool ! Different. Nice work Block 🤘🏽
Yeah, Science! Great vid. Dig the kit and showing how to use it. Bagger Bro taking over the vids lately! Good stuff!
Cool video Block! Thanks man.
I’ve heard that octane booster can create buildup on the pistons. Just something to think about when comparing non ethanol vs 10%.
Cool experiment. Wawa stands up to their word. Cool.
And I didn't know my friend Reese works at OHDS. He's a very nice guy.
Very interesting!! Good to know.
Was expecting more use of the science meme on this one :( lol great vid!
I got lazy editing it, lol
@@BlockheadMoto lol no worries my man!
I need to retire...you said meniscus and I thought "knee"...but I learned something new! It will be interesting what happens at 5K!
Hahahaha 👏🏻🙌🏻

Well youre right its the soft tissue behind the knee and if it tears its a torn meniscus
@@maddog7999 I'm an x-ray teacher...😏
Nice content! You can do this test without a kit, just put gas and water in any measure cup and you can see the same level rise from ethanol being mixed with water. The quantity of water is irrelevant, just measure the ratios - height of gas after pouring and after sitting for 2 mins.
upside of living in Upper Peninsula of Michigan is all the ethanol free premium everywhere. Downside is the long winter
Feel that, central pa and winter is coming lol
True on the gas but the good thing is at least you can ride your sled for a solid 4-5 months if you can’t ride the bike
@@joesainato8051 yeah that is fun too, but i love my bike
We are lucky in Louisiana we have 93 ethanol free, Ive been running it in my 05 carbureted bike for about 3-4 tanks.
If you want to stock up on fuel one way I use is a 150 gallon aluminum tank off an 1-wheeler. I plug every orifice I don't use with stainless pipe plugs and since mine is mainly for inbound bad weather I also plug the outlet I intend to dispense from. When it's time to fill it gets strapped down in my truck bed after installing a stainless ball valve and some stainless pipe for a gravity feed spout. Then I can fill smaller fuel cans effortlessly.
I take advantage of carbs to tune for cheap fuel rather than chase more expensive blends. Early HDs have low static compression by modern standards to run on lower grade fuels and for easier kicking. BTW a nice feature of high overlap cams is they lower static compression which is much easier on starters and right legs if you kick.
Nice vid guys. Do you won’t to sell the black filter cover on the bench .
Yep...science!
Look forward to results
Aren't most octane boosters alcohol based? Great video, I'm a auto technician and use a similar test kits when I think someone filled up with e85.
Block, when you said the gas is 10% ethanol on the pump gas, the sticker at the pump says up to 10% ethanol. Not exactly 10%. Hence your results of about 8 or 9 in the graduated cylinder. It can't be over 10%.
Makes sense 👍🏼
I'm in Minnesota and they recommend using E15 or E10 for clean burning fuel on all vehicles from 2001 to current models. I wonder if that includes motorKykles? Thanks for sharing and really baggerbro, no cabbage pound?! Thank you again for the video.
My Dyno guy wants a tank full of "premium gas" in the bike. Now, I've been running ethanol free 90 Oct on my M8 114 since pretty much since new. Would the Ethanol free plus the Lucas Oct booster suffice for the Dyno requirements?
Nice truck Block!!!
Yeah Lucas Oil products are the only thing I use for both my bike and truck, great stuff
Meh, we've already had 9" of snow here in the Dakotas....I need to move somewhere where I can ride year round...guess I'll live vicariously thru you guys for now :-)
Get a snowmobile or four wheeler dude and get down!
Maybe this has been discussed before, but if you can’t get ethanol free gas, would using Sta-Bil 360 all year long help?
Hey Blockhead..question ..what is the actual Octane. On ethanol gas. We have several stations in Winter Haven. I normally run RACE TRAC 93. OCTANE..
Would luv to see E85 tested
Since the gas is coming from a multi octane pump. Test the first initial gallon. I have heard you actually get a little bit of the previous gas that was trapped in the hose from last purchase. That’s why I only use e-free from single pumps.
The hose we use was dedicated to e-free, but that would be interesting to test.
What of the octane booster has ethenol in it?
The non ethanol in New Hampshire is 90 to 91 octane
Here on Long Island, NY, we can only get Non Ethanol gas at a lawn mower shop or some hardware stores in gallon containers... not cheap. Or, go on the ferry to Connecticut and get good gas there. You have to use conditioner in the winter or the corn F's up your motor. Especially when you store gas or it's too fricken' cold to ride for 3 - 4 months. LOL
G
I work in the pulp and paper industry. We sell water treatment chemicals to the plant and help them manage the chemistry on the paper machines, so I get to do lots of little experiments. 🤣
Wonding if having a 99fxd running ethanol for years would switching to ethanol free make a difference or is damaged already done?
You'll lubricate the injectors and o-rings better if you do...
Up here in Canuckastan our lower octane fuel particularly the 87 & 89 dead dinosaurs contain up to 10% ethanol, the 91 octane contains 0% ethanol.
The beginning makes me laugh everytime I watch this video lol
How many times have you watched this video?
@@disht2 I’m on his Patreon so I watched it twice there and once here
If that gas station shares the same hose for each grade, you should test the first bit you get out of the hose. Bonus points if you do it right after it pumped gas with ethanol. That's how all the gas stations by me are set up, so I'm sure that if I'm pumping after someone else who gets gas with ethanol, I'm probably getting whatevers left in the lines before it starts getting me ethanol free.
Have a look at 1:12 in the video - the blue hose at the Wawa pump is exclusively for ethanol-free. The multi-octane hose is on the right side of the pump. So he's not contaminated.
Ok Block this was good. I wish we could time-lapse 3-5k miles to pull those heads.
Seriously though, good information for those that need to verify ETOH content and were concerned it would be too “hard”. Amazon is going to be out of testing kits. They’ll be like “Hey? WTF? Why suddenly is there a run in ethanol testing kits? We should flood the ads with them and say it’s trending!”
I just bought one...lol. RS,SV
What do you even use ethanol free gas for we have non-ethanol here or 93’87 and then diesel what is ethanol free gas for
Thinking of changing the suspension on my 2012 Street Glide. I have a whopping 4100 miles on it!! What would you suggest?
Legend or Ohlins
You wouldn't feel any difference.....your car will still drive the same.
XD the gum
HOW CAN I EMAIL YOU LOL I work at Bert's black widow Harley davidosn in port Charlotte florida I was wondering if you would take a ride down on a Saturday we have over 1000 bikes on our lot and concerts!!!!
Block you need a road glide! Maybe at 500k subs?!
Wait you guys have wawas in Florida??!? Total philly thing!
this might be a dumb question. , but is this ethanol + octane booster good for only m8 motors , or can it be used on any Harley motors??
ethanol free**
96’ 89 Evo NEEDS 110 leaded? That stuffs like $10/gallon, lol
Now what I don't understand is what is causing the black residue on top of the piston head.
Is that ethanol ?
(Which would be good news because in France we use 98 octane ethanol-free gas)
Or is that oil blow-by because of the excessive pressure in the crankcase ?
I'm confused ...
Blow by and/or head breather snot if not routed externally... I run Amsoil octane booster and their Quick shot additive to combat ethanol and carbon buildup on piston tops. Ethanol is corrosive because it is water based. I don't believe it causes carbon on piston tops. I have seen what it does to the internals of an engine. And it is not good.
Do you have any suggestions for someone who cannot get ethonol free gas? There are zero stations near me that carry it. My only option i have is to buy race fuel at over $9 per gallon. I've had several people say to use sentry fuel treatment.
You can remove it yourself (CZcams search It to see how,) but it might not be worth the time or effort unless you’re wanting to run EF on special applications 👍🏼
I just had my motor built. I haven't even started it yet. I was just hoping to find a way to prevent the ethonol damage issue. I ride way to much and I'll never be able to keep up making it myself.
Sure would be nice to adored a motorcycle. I don't understand how people on CZcams have so many toys and so much money and still have time to make videos.
Ethanol, however, has the advantage of a larger amount of oxygen. And do you mix in 10% E85 in 93 octane So it will be 93+? . There is over 100 octane in E85
now you need to switch to an external venting breather system
Three points isn't it 0.3 octane?
The science channel
Wow premium gas has 10% ethanol in the states? Our 87 usually has 10%, and it just goes down from there.

Hi Everyone im a newbie in riding motorcycles any tips to help me
Im 15 and im saving up to get fxdr 114 or should i get proper training and learn from motorcycle classes and get a beginners bike?
taking some motorcycle training classes is a must, especially if you dont have any experience on any form of motorbike. if your under 20 when you get your first bike and you have limited experience, start with something at max 500cc
Yes you will grow out of the bike in 18 to 24 months, but the experience you again and the fun you will have will be worth it. Also in many areas, a small CC bike will be cheaper to insure.
@@impoppa9647 thx bro really needed this information
@@jeremygudiel1258 A Honda Rebel 500 is a great first bike, enough power to handle some short highway travel still, yet easy to flick around, great in the city/town riding and just an all around good solid bike. Plus new they are very affordable and hold good value in the re-sale market.
Or if you feel that you can handle a bit of extra power & weight the HD883 is a popular bike that a lot of beginner riders get.
The FXDR114 is a lot of bike with a lot of power for a first bike.... (over 1800cc).
All the best of success with getting your license and hitting the road with 2 wheel
@@impoppa9647 thank you and be safe god bless you man
I have a buddy who bought a dyna low rider s for his first motorcycle... you just have to have self control on the throttle.. I would definitely recommend classes tho. I personally haven't taken one but I've been licensed since before finding out harley did them. I know a lot of novice riders who have taken a course and can outride many long-term riders i know. Im going to take it just to see what bad habits I have picked up and need to kick.
What's the perceived benefit of the octane booster? I get it for a blown engine.. you can run higher boost without autoignition, but for a NA? Whats the compression ratio on that HD 131? I can't imagine its aggressive based on the dyno output.. Is your knock count poppin off or something?
I am sure that the ignition is advanced a number of degree's by the aftermarket tuner...hence you need the fuel to burn a tad bit longer or you will get knock....for my car I have a low octane tune and a high octane tune and I am sure the difference is the amount of advance....slap the 87 tune when you are taking a long trip to save on gas or if 93 isnt available....
@@redrider0151 With PV tuner you can log or watch real time the knock counter.. Has Block observed that and realized he needs higher octane? or is he chasing waterfalls haha? Without observing the data directly, has the ECU pulled timing on him? Does he have a 13:1 compression ratio? Does he know his WOT spark advance? Why does he need 93 octane? Maybe he should do a video explaining why he thinks he does.
@@briandrose I can tell you that I do because my tuner told me to...LOL... :D
@@redrider0151 have you run 87 in there? ...it has a higher energy content..
@@briandrose Back in the day of mechanical ignition advancers I did and got horrible knock....ever since then I just run what my guy tells me to run..LOLOL. I have always just assumed on a bike its less than 2 bucks more a tank to run 93 so I just do it..figure I am never going to run into issues running 93 whereas I "could" with 87. In my truck I only run 87 and refuse to get it tuned, as I dont wanna pay all the extra in gas.. :-P
That’s not fair y’all have Wawa we don’t but we have spinks, quick trip, 7 11 and that’s about it but we are technically in the middle of know where I barely have Service
Thumbs down, eric didnt do the cabbage bump lol !! Great video otherwise lol!
I'm sorry! I have failed you!!!! 😔
Ayyy
No 92 ethanol free?
We found a gas station that has ethanol free, but its 80 miles away :(
head phone warnings? who needs them!? hahaha....... why wont my ears stop ringing?
Just go to the airport and take your can. Tell them you need some 110 low lead av-gas for a race car.
Run it through a GC, more reliable.
kevin baxter does a great video on this topic but on a larger scale. makes me think about making my own ethanol free gas.
I don't run ethanol free gas to keep from having carbon build up..... I run it to keep from having the fuel lines in my tank destroyed which has been proven to happen multiple times already.
EXACTLY
If you have an airport near by , bring your tanks there , tell them it’s for your “G” and get some jet fuel. I drive 10 minutes north cross the state line in NH and they look the other way, nobody grabs 10 gallons for their jet and they know that.
I definitely would not recommend jet fuel in a gas burning engine...
@@jeredfowler7194 what do you think aviation fuel is? If you have O2 sensors than you need to be careful or a catalytic converter from the lead. Mix accordingly.
Jet fuel is basically kerosene...... AV gas is gasoline
3 points isn't even a full number. Check out VP madditive, 7 full numbers.
Give Project Farm results! Test not e nuff! Go ride bike lots...go!
You should have used distilled water...

Why does gas look like an energy drink
Of course gas is better. Ethanol has a horrible energy efficiency. It burns hotter (which does not lend itself well to air cooled engines)
You guys only have low octane ethanol free gas,man that must suck, Our low Octane say it may contain 10% ethanol, and our 94 octane has no ethanol.
Ethanol gas in commiefornia... I run 91 octane, Amsoil octane booster and their Quickshot additive to combat ethanol and carbon buildup on the piston tops.
