Moving from kindergarten where it's all fun to real grade school where actual grades start is similar to preschool graduation since many kids don't go to preschool. It's a symbol of entering grade school for real, as 8th grade grad is to high school and high school grad is to college or the work force. A piece of paper isn't the point. It only is to people who don't understand the value in life's experiences rather than just material possessions and what-not. It's not as black and white as just a piece of paper.

I remember being blown away when I unexpectedly heard this on the radio after I finished my basic training in the Korean army and was about to be stationed in my assigned unit (it must have been May 2006). I had listened to some of her songs after "These Words" became a hit in Europe, and "Unwritten" ended up getting a lot of rotation in my personal playlists. As far as I knew, however, it was just an album track I liked from an artist who was unknown outside of Europe. So imagine my surprise when I heard it on the radio in Korea after five weeks of training without much contact with the outside world. I still remember how uplifting it was to hear it.

I still hear this song pretty regularly almost 20 years after its release and not once when it comes on do I ever go "ugh, not this song again...". I wish there were more purely positive songs like this.

Saw this episode when it came out few days ago, just one day before i went for an interview. Decided to put in on replay and blasting it in the car on the way to the interview to calm me down and hype up the positivity vibe cause i get nervous easily, especially when it comes to interviews.
And yes! i got the job and will start next week. Of course i sang my heart out on the way back home, hard not to 🙃

This is one of those songs that you might not remember the title or name of the artist, but you hear it nearly 20 years later on the background music at a Walgreens, it gets stuck in your head, and you Google it, and end up here.

I love that song. Natasha is so talented♥️
I also love that VICE is doing two of these so shortly apart.
But what I always thought would be a really cool song story would be Complicated by Avril Lavigne. It kind of dominated in the 00s.
I also think it would be a really cool story to tell. And how she became popular in Japan before the us.

You know I agree with you but at the same time, I always liked how the songs featured here are almost more into the one hit wonder kind of side. Not saying that the artists doing them haven’t done anything else but Avril was known for like other songs as well. I like when this series picks a song and you go “oh god I haven’t heard that in ages” moment!
