Decided to sit out for this one, mainly because I’m guaranteed entry into the final tournament. Stream was absolutely hilarious. I blame Huey for making me think about Peachette’s you-know-what.

I have done this twice recently (the prior incident occurred on Waluigi Stadium a couple weeks back). I may have unintentionally ruined CPE's chances at winning the tournament with this robbery. Again. Lol

A quick scan of the 12 races says this video is good for my eyes, but if I recall correctly, I only needed to scan for the fourth race and the final 5 races, as the first 3 and the 3 that followed the fourth race had my Funky Kong Flame Rider combo (I went with Flame Rider because it shares stats with Wild Wiggler and looks the most like the fabled Flame Runner from the Mario Kart Wii days).
With that out of the way, time to dive into the commentary.
No timestamp to kick things off. This Yoshi Circuit was my pick, and despite my struggles, I had fun here when Father Boo and lightning weren't taking my items. Strangely enough, my struggles were *NOT* caused by Father Boo or lightning. I'm just not accustomed to Funky Kong's stat class, and that showed throughout my performance all tournament.

I get it. I'm playing as a Kong. That's why you threw that green at me. Blame Alex for my character selection tonight. I was hoping to go with Toadette or female Villager after watching Shiori Novella play this game last night, but both were ineligible and only the Kongs were eligible.

That 11th place finish was the result of Shigeru deciding to give me Gold 🍄 after Gold 🍄 all throughout the second half of the race. I needed a Pity Bill to stand a chance against the players in this room, and even a triple 🍄 would have been manageable, but the timer on the Gold just lasts way too long on a course with as many twists and turns as Yoshi Circuit.

The dirtiest name for a course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Well... at least prior to Wave 4, anyway. Mount Wario has since been dethroned by Bangkok Rush.

If I chose to pick my character based solely on stats, I'd have gone with Donkey Kong instead of Funky Kong. I went with Funky tonight because I love his vocal lines and the trick animation where he's lying down on the surfboard. The pose he does on the surfboard reminds me of Tetsuya Naito and his "Tranquilo" taunt in New Japan, and I needed a whole lot of Tranquilo after seeing what items Shigeru gave me and how other players were using their items on me all night (for example, CPE backs a Boomerang at me when I'm holding 2 green shells and approaching a double item set, so I'm planning on backing the greens and getting the double item box if I don't lose any momentum... but I don't know if CPE even knew that was me, and if he did, he probably gave me more credit with green shell sniping than I would ever give myself).

Watching for the next 7 seconds reveals that the ⭐ was indeed me, and I knew from where the Spiny Shell was thrown that it was also mine.

wind wasn't in the lobby, so I was free to pick Yoshi Valley. I don't know if it landed on mine, but I'm glad we got it.
Also, you get to see my full combo (aside from the Cloud Glider) as the camera rotates from rear view to front view. I already mentioned Funky Kong on the Flame Rider, and you likely guessed I was using some kind of Roller variant, but now you can clearly see I've got the Azure Roller tires. As stated at an earlier timestamp, my struggles in this tournament were due to my inexperience with Funky Kong's stat class in a competitive format.

As an aside, you were closer to GamerLuigi on my screen and I saw the Boomerang hit you, but that ended up being Nintendo lag putting you further ahead than you actually were.

Yeah, bagging is still possible... if you stop at the right spot. I must've been hitting Y by accident while holding B for the brake, so I kept going forward and only got one item pull here. 😆
I don't know if that would have happened if I were to regularly use Y to accelerate, since I regularly use A for that.

I tried to make up for that braking error by getting the doubles here, but I was too far to the left, so when I activated my ⭐, I had only one item in reserve instead of two. I think I finally get the proper amount of items at the next set, but I don't know if you're close enough to witness me getting items there.

Another course on which I struggled because of my unfamiliarity with Funky Kong's stat class. On the positive side, I did manage to pull off Ren's "cool shroomless shortcut" during this race.

Here's you performing the aforementioned shortcut. I think I was in the back for the whole race until getting a Pity Bill and dodging the lightning with it, so item luck saved my race.

On my screen, you were to my right. Here, you're on my left. Good thing I didn't try swerving in either direction, as my objective would have failed in either case. If I swerved to the left to avoid you, I'd have hit you. If I swerved to the right to hit you, no contact would have been made.

Here's a rare moment when I actually connect with a Boomerang. I probably would have felt bad if the points wind lost after that Boomerang hit ended up costing him first place in the tournament, but since he still ended up winning, I don't feel even the slightest bit of remorse for this shot.

Another nightmare of a race where I kept getting the dreaded Gold 🍄 when I didn't want it. This is basically a repeat of Yoshi Circuit, but worse for Funky Kong's Traction stat. Also, I had a lot more fun at Yoshi Circuit than I did here.

It looks like the doubles were stolen from me, and I would have stolen them from you if they were up for me... but as is often the case, Nintendo lag plays a part. My 🍄 allowed me to get the double set after you had already passed them. That's why you see my Funky Kong holding another 🍄 approximately 4 seconds later.

It was either me in 11th or the Bowser Jr. in last, and I got no lightning this tournament, so it was definitely the COM (or bot, as you say at this point in commentary).

I started late so my lobby shuffling was out of whack. The tournament rule soured my mood. Contemplating just skipping it all together. I also picked Yoshi Circuit to start things off.

As for Funky, I'm not going to look fondly at him because of Mario Kart Wii where he was a god and Daisy was the only one who could even challenge him. Gee, I wonder why I hate Funky Kong. I can tolerate DK for one night.

I'd probably be in the same sour mood if the tournament had been "babies only" (which Alex has done before) with Diddy Kong and Toad being allowed while Bowser Jr., Larry, and Lemmy get banned (in the previous "babies only" tournament, Lemmy was allowed, but I don't remember if I was feeling under the weather or if it was a Wave 5 tournament, but either way I didn't play in that one).

There are other courses where a Gold is useful. Toad's Turnpike and Moonview Highway come to mind. In both of those cases, however, it's better to have a ⭐ active to combat the oncoming traffic.

From the moment Donkey Kong Country introduced him, I never liked Diddy. Even in Diddy Kong Racing, I found myself gravitating toward all of the other characters... at least prior to 2001, at which point I stopped liking Conker, but Conker was a rarely-used driver for me in that game anyway. My go-to drivers were Banjo (Hovercraft only), Tiptup (originally my favorite, but has since become a Plane and Battle specialist), and Bumper/Timber (when I know a Car is being used or if I don't know the optimal vehicle for a race, with Bumper being preferred when I need speed and Timber being preferred when I need control).
As for Funky Kong, I never actually played Mario Kart Wii, so it's easier for me to appreciate how goofy his sound effects and trick animations are (I even mention "Tranquilo" at this timestamp in my original commentary 😆).

I can handle any vehicle with some degree of decency (even the usual "trash" vehicles, thanks to Alex's wacky rules 😆). It's Funky Kong's stat class, as I said throughout original commentary, that I need to adjust to handling.

Super Bell Subway is where I used Trashy Toad (the original version, as I now have 5 different variations and the other 4 are considered even worse after the stat changes from the Booster Pass) and dropped 🍌 after 🍌 to try to keep you pinned to a wall near the end of a lap.

The Sound Horn was the next timestamp, and apparently I was surprisingly accurate with the Boomerang in this tournament. 2 hits on Yoshi Valley, one on 3DS Rainbow Road, that's more than I remember hitting in any 12-race tournament before.

I think the way bagging has changed makes the way I try bagging more optimal than how the "hard baggers" used to bag prior to the Wave 6 update. I still have fails like this timestamp, but that's better than risking a communication error like the "hard baggers" would do.

Oh I didn't feel targeted by the lightning there. It was just unfortunate (for me) timing. Now the backspam from CPE at Singapore (which was while you were at DK Mountain) and from kirby 503 at 3DS Rainbow Road (shortly after my timestamp of the Boomerang hit on wind) felt like I was being targeted.

Post-video Thoughts
I never had a chance in this year's standings. The tone was set with a 200cc tournament in which Lemmy was banned and I had not yet thought of referring to Baby Rosalina as "the Rosalina of Youth", then Wave 5 gave me Kefka Palazzo levels of trauma (to which I maintain that the only positive to come from that turn of events is the creation of the Mii of Kefka), and perhaps worst of all was Alex banning Miis from the Halloween tournament when Oddball was meant to race (but at least I got payback for that in the form of "From Indonesia with Love" beating Alex's time at Electrodrome, which was shown at the beginning of last week's stream 👻😆👑).
If you win the 200cc tournament 2 weeks from tonight, I'm pretty sure that will be enough to get you in the 12-player room. If not, hopefully you at least have fun playing that one.

28:39 There's a lot of desperation at this point. More so on NEON than CPE I feel. They understand what's at stake here. Ultimately I think what did NEON in was that he either missed too many tournaments, and when he was there he was often late. This has costed him dearly, actually. I know missing week 21 in my case was painful as well, but as I was sick I couldn't help it.

Yep. Another Hololive generation. Advent is such a fun group, but that's not a surprise because Hololive in general has lots of fun VTuber talent. I already mentioned Shiori Novella in Part 1 of my original commentary. The other members are Koseki Bijou (who talks about Rock Hard Construction during her Minecraft streams and has even built a giant 🗿 in one of the latest Minecraft streams), Nerissa Ravencroft (who was the only member not referenced in last night's commentary), and twins Fuwawa and Mococo (now I've given away the "Extreme Violence" Miis 🐶🐶🐾, but you were going to find out sooner or later anyway 😆).

I missed several tournaments, as explained in my "Post-video Thoughts", and it turns out I was more sick last week than I thought I was. I'm still not fully recovered, but I managed to join last night's tournament, so that's a step forward.

I know there was a second player with 0 points at this timestamp. I just didn't catch who it was, so it could be ASCENSION and the reason I didn't notice was because I may not have had any races with him. Hopefully it was just a glitch, like you said, but now I can't be sure that I earned that 1 point for finishing 20th.
At least I know my 69 points are accurate, so even if I didn't actually earn 20th (because of Nintendo taking away other players' points), I'm still the unofficial winner (wind's the official winner, of course) with the funny point total. 😎
