    Some Bonus characters!
    - Thiollier and Ansbach for helping them reach their potential
    - Fire Knight Queelign and Swordhand of Night Jolán if you grant the Iris of Grace in their quest
    - Ancient Dragon Florissax for giving her new purpose after her Lord's nature has become clear
    - Moore if you manage to save him
Whether these are good endings depends on your perspective and how you progressed your quest with them.
Is there anyone else you think we helped?

Placidusax was extremely petty. He made a whole religion just to get back at Bayle's bloodline after Bayle betrayed him and on top of this. I mean, Radahn _literally_ froze the stars in the sky to stop them from causing his own fate from coming to pass, so he basically did literally everything within his power to hold that off - and kept all of that in place even after Malenia showed up to try to force him to surrender to her brother, battled him to a standstill, and obliterated all of Caelid with Scarlet Rot. The only reason that he had to be forced to relinquish that hold over the stars was in order to open the path to the Fingerslayer Blade in Nokron to allow Ranni's fate to come to pass, so that she can take Marika's place and bring about the Age of the Stars - _which will prevent Miquella from ascending._
All of the Carians were overwhelmingly prepared and went as far as they could possibly to prevent being overcome by the Erdtree. Ranni entrusted Rykard with the Blasphemous Claw so that he could confront Malekith, and rather than surrender against Leyndell from Volcano Manor he fed himself to the Serpent-God in permanent blasphemy rather than fall against them. Ranni stole Destined Death and slew her own flesh to escape the Two Fingers' control until the time was right where she had the Tarnished's assistance in bringing about the necessary steps in her journey on the Dark Path.
The design of the Miquellan Knight sword is a Carian Knight sword with its Glintstone replaced by Amber, exactly like how Miquella works to control Radahn, while Rellana is entranced by the Amber Egg with the form of Miquella's unborn rune within it that Radahn gave her to keep her from turning against Leyndell despite his betrayal, he still controlled her with his love sealed in amber. What's even more telling about this is that Seluvis attempts to make Ranni a puppet that he can control by using a shard of Amber Starlight that fell to earth at a statue of Miquella in the Altus Plateau.
The Starlight Shards recover FP, but were used in potions by the inhabitants of the Eternal City in order to control people like puppets. As Miquella's other half, St. Trina's Lulling Branch regenerates FP and causes people to drift to sleep, and imbibing her nectar is how you fall into a slumber that she controls. Everything points to that Amber Starlight Shard being a means to forcible place Ranni under control in the same way Miquella does by stealing your heart... - but even if you go through with Seluvis' scheme, Ranni is fully prepared to prevent any attempt at that type of control over her. Post-ascension in place of Marika, she would also likely be able to sever Miquella's control over her brother as well, had the events in the Land of Shadow still come to pass.
It all seems like both of her brothers went as far as possible to ensure that their Empyrean sister would have a path to ascension, and in doing so - they were both willing to give themselves in to controlling & manipulative relationships that are antithetical to what the Age of Stars ending represents - because they knew that it would finally free them from that fate of stars being manipulated by others, and to allow the stars to guide their fate without the influence of another.

Have I given yall my Marika is the Spirit Tuner that Hewg is indebted to and that Roderika is a numen theory? Basically because we know they're shrine maidens, the Shamans were likely the original spirit tuners and given that Hewg talks about the sheer terror of her, I bet he's talking about Marika's revenge on the Hornsent. Now why does that say taht Roderika is numen? Because you have a young, beautiful, blonde, well endowed young women who's gifted in the spiritual arts but never practised it. who has the same hue in her eyes as said spirit tuner now, take that same girl and raise her in the culture of spirit tuning (shamanism) and I can see why people thought the shamans/Marika were divine. The Numen/Shamans came to the lands between on those big stone ships down in the ceruelian coasts due to them coming from outside the lands between and guess who else came by ship? Roderika who couldn't see her own guidance because Marika hated the Golden Order all along after figuring out that Metyr was broken.

Yeah, I was never big on the idea that we, and any and every attempt at righting the world by fixing it, are always doomed to fail/are always evil because you have to kill a few people to roll the credits/etc.
It would be nice if we had an explicit path for pacifism, but, unfortunately (or not), ER isn’t Undertale. There’s very little room for “holier than thou” in this setting when it comes to any ideology. The closest thing we have to that, Miquella’s Age, is something we don’t have the option to bring about, even if we want it.
If “one death is one too many in the name of peace”, then not even Miquella would satisfy you. Categorically, his age as is has a minimum cost of one soul-Mohg’s, forsaken, without implication of being restored.

Igon is 100% without a doubt my favorite character in any FromSoft game.
He caught my attention with his moaning about pain on the way to Jagged Peak, but I thought his second introduction was perfect.
Most people would see those two drakes in combat and stop to fight them not even realizing that Igon is there at all. I certainly didn’t notice him at all until after slaying the two of them and hearing his hearty laugh ring out.
His conviction and desperation for me to summon him in the fight made me break my “no summons” rule. I do a general “anything goes as long as I’m having fun” play through of FromSoft games before doing RP or challenge runs.
In this instance, my general run character was tied up waiting for my wife to have some free time so I started the DLC again with my role playing character who was a cold as ice assassin who refused to use any form of help- mainly because she didn’t want to be known or noticed.
When I play an RP character, I really try to feel like I’m that person. Cold as ice. Uncaring. But Igon’s bravado made me second guess that persona. For one, he was missing limbs and dying. He would live long enough to tell anybody where or who I was (role playing remember). I felt no need to slay him for witnessing me, but I also felt like my character would have understood him. His heart to heart and his straightforward discussion of summoning him to fight Bayle were perfect that I think even the coldest of assassins would have felt a bit of common ground with him. Slaying their target.
So I summoned him to his fight vowing to help him succeed and my god his voice lines in combat. I just was like, “YES! This is a true warrior. This is the first NPC I haven’t felt like was this useless waste of space. Let’s go!”
10/10 will always summon him to fight Bayle no matter what.

I really love your conted, but i dont agree to almost all things in this video.
Its still very enjoyable to watch, the Dialoge of the characters are very well implemented and - as always - you get the intended feelings across very well.
But... Im... really devestated, that even Hawkshaw thinks, killing Miquella is the right thing to do.
In my opinion, there was never s character like Miquella in any souls game. He sacrificed everything, did everything he could, showed nothing but compassion, to build a new age. And we kill him, as if any ending we can create at the end of the game could be equal to an "age of compassion".
Ansbach is one of the coolest characters ever, and St. Trinas Quest very engaging. But those two made the community hate on Miquella.
Somehow war loving, kind hearted, mightiest of the demigods Radahn is seen as nothing but a victim. If he was simply charmed, why was there a pact in the first place? Why would Freya not call Miquella out, instead of defending him?Radahn is literally living his dream: becoming like his idols.
Mogh is pittied, even though he build up a blood cult. Ansbach is amazing, but to become a member of Moghgywn, you got to soak cloth in a maidens blood. These guys are mad. And of course Mogh was used - there was no other way into the shadowlands and to revive Radahn. Should Miquella wait around for someone to sacrafice himself willingly? Arguably Mogh could have even consented to this, as blood offerings to Miquella seemed to be practised under his rule. So its simply his time to sacrifice himself.
All the characters Miquella charmed, still like him, after the charm is broken. Even Ansbach calls out to him, when you kill him with Leda, saying he failed him. Hornsents Dialoge is also very telling, after the charm.
In my opinion, this shows, that Miquella doesnt abuse his power.
Poor Miquella endured the pain of stripping his flesh, his possesive (deadly, envious) love, his power... everything. Still, infront of the gate, he had to strip his fear, as he knew, what cruel fate awaited him.
He did it anyway... for his sister, the people of the lands between, for us.
And as we face him, he offers us companionship. "Heat stolen" being written in a similar color to the victory screen.
At the end of the dlc, we are no hero. We are a conqueror. Killing our "competition". Because Miquella dared to choose a nicer lord, than us.

    • @dozencatfish1667
      @dozencatfish1667 Před měsícem +20

This is a totally valid interpretation, but I'm baffled by your framing of it as if it's the only one in a story as vague as this. It's just as valid (moreso in my opinion) to see Miqualla as something more sinister. How do you think he's going to make the world gentler and kinder? It seems likely the plan is to charm the world, to remove people's free will. He's even shed his own sense of love for others so that he can do it more easily because he knows it's wrong. He plans to violate people in the most intimate way imaginable, and has already done so to his family.
EDIT I think the clearest example is the detail that Radahn is inhabiting Moghs corpse. This detail exists to signpost that Miqualla does not respect autonomy. To avoid physical violence, he will violate your soul.

    • @ANDERB0RN
      @ANDERB0RN Před měsícem +3

      @ANDERB0RN Před měsícem +1

      An understandable concern.
I think "pure order" as you describe it could be archievee by the goldmask ending.
The reason i dont think, that Miquells will use his abilities to take the free will of everyone is... that, in my opinion, there are not that many good examples for it.
Lets say he charmed someone, to the point that s/he would be nothing but a slave to his will.
Radahn, Mogh could be examples for that, as Hawkshaw nicely shown.
But ... we dont know for sure.
Mogh could be into sacrificing himself for the cause (blood offerings were a theme in his cult), and Radahn could have consented.
In Ansbach case, we can be sure. He wanted to kill Miquella, but was instead charmed and put into servitude.
Ansbach was of course afraid of Miquella, but he didnt seek revenge or something like that. He only helps in the endfight, if you give him the scroll and he is honourbound to free Moghs corpse.
But i think its very telling that, he himself... seems to keep doing, what he already did under the charm. Seemingly distancing himself from bloodshed, and embarcing the path of the wise.
Hornsent as well, seems to still seek revenge under the charm, but was able to see the "greys" in the world and ally himself to us.
It seems to me, that it is entirely possible, that Miquellas charm, simply dims ones dark urges.
And makes it harder to attack Miquella or his allies.
Of course, we all know the use of the bewitching branch. That stsnds opposed to this interpretation of mine. ^^'

    • @niklaspeter2568
      @niklaspeter2568 Před měsícem +3

I'm trying to figure out how valid this interpretation is.
And which course of action would be best for our tarnished.
What annoys me is the lack of information given if we get our heart stolen. Especially the fact that the fight just gets reset is kind of irritating.
There are also some things that don't really make sense to me.
Radahn agreeing to be consort conflicts with the war part of malenias and radahns confrontation. (the duel itself could well have been part of the vow)
Why would miquella allow his followers to sacrifice themselves against us? The worst thing about that is that we would not even be allowed audience with him. He straight up sacrifices his followers for nothing. I guess we could blame this on Leda.
It also bothers me that the first thing that happens to us, as we enter the arena, is getting attacked by Radahn. No intention of handling the conflict peacefully shown. That's why miquellas embrace feels much more like a mind control thing and not an actual peace offer.
To me it feels like miquella chose a fight where he could get a stalemate at best.
What makes all this more difficult is the ambiguity of the endings (specifically age of order and age of stars).
Even who grants us grace and thus makes us undefeatable isn't fully clear. I'm currently assuming it's the Greater Will because grace can revive one killed by destined death and/or frenzied flame. Grace also guides us to ranni and by extension her ending, implying whoever is behind grace is fine with the age of stars.
That would imply the GW has pretty much decided it wants us on the throne and miquella is destined to fail.
From that logic all endings would be GW approved except miquellas age of compassion. This either paints the GW or miquella as quite evil and/or ignorant.

    Love this video honestly
But it's not really true that we are anymore a hero then in the base game
We are still pawns of then greater will
I fate that no ones escapes
You're right about redahn this is the only way to save redahn
But Igon , his fate is sealed with bayle
He is completely insane and obsessed w bayle
There is no life for him outside of bayle
He is the games captain ahab
And bayle is his mobey dick 😮 so no salvation for poor igon
Also, there is no good end for Leonard
As the putrefacted knight is redahns old decaying body
That without redahns soul continues to defend and protect what is good bc this is what redahn would want to defend about Miquella
    The living side
    He is defending at Trina
    Like godwyns body
Godwyns living life and who he was
Was some that would try to fix things in the world
His body is carrying out what godwyn would do
The world desperately needed death back
So godwyns body is becoming death to fix the world
Godwyns body only grew with Godwyns so it would only have the imprint of the life Godwyn lead
Ending the war by becoming friends
Finally yes fulfilling the kindness at Trina asks for is a kindness to Miquella
As being a god like for Marika would become a prison

I have no sympathy for killing any boss in this game cuz they're like three times my size and attack me first

This is a really good video, and I know this is a nitpick, but it’s a pet peeve of mine so whatever. It’s really annoying how every other character using their abilities is “fair”, Radahn can use gravity magic, Renalla is all magic, Morgott uses his weird omen blood thing, etc. But as soon as Melania uses her rot magic, she’s “cheating”, it’s not honourable, etc. Idk just rubs me the wrong way

i agree on everything except radahn. he’s a blood hungry monster who lives to kill, not exactly a hero.

Yeah nah only truly compassionate ending is the tranquility of frenzy flame
