I wish I would have seen you knife sharpening tip years ago. I made the BIG mistake of swinging my arm at the end. I turned a paring knife from beautifully curved end to an ugly wedge that looked more like an xacto #11 blade. Thank you for this Public Service Announcement.

Interesting video. I bought a tormek t8 with small knife jig accessory kit the same day I bought a festool sander and a festool dust extractor. I have used the sander and extractor but not the tormek. I need to get busy. Thanx for your videos!

    Hi guys!
Thanks for your great videos on blade sharpening with the Tormek T8. Extremely helpful. I just purchased my T8 and as a novice, I learning the techniques and patience in obtaining extremely sharp bevels. This machine is fantastic and so versatile for all types of blades. Do you recommend a honing paste/compound to substitute for the rather expensive Tormek brand? Thanks and "Stay Shaap". Norm from "Torono" (Toronto), Canada.

Hey Sedge. Have you tried sharpening a pocket knife with the small knife jig? I've got a Buck and due to the body shape (basically an oblong rectangle) the SVM-00 doesn't work. The knife flops around because the jig is made for a rounded handle. Have you come up with a solution?

I will look into it ...Thanks for making me aware of this !!

    Hi Sedge,
We've been in contact before, about the DF500. Sorry to post on this video, but I really need your assistance...
I hope you can help me, because I've a few issues...
I'm building a piece of furniture, which is 16 mm in thickness. All corners are mitered, 45 degrees, and I planned on using the 5x30 domino. I tried this today, and the domino went through... What's the catch here? I set to the DF500 like you've shown on CZcams, with the bevel first, bottom out the gauge and push down the height, still went through... Is 16 mm too thin for the 5x30?
When the 5x30 didn't work, I switched to the 4x20, and it didn't go through, but when I assembled a joint, it wouldn't meet up properly... It's offset about 1mm, even though I used the same reference face, for both cuts?? 🤔
    What's the deal here?
I really hope you can help me out, because I'm about due with my project... 😔
    Thank you,
    Best regards.

      16mm is too thin for the 5 x 30 . I always have used 18mm for the 5 x 30
the 4 x 20 is the proper domino to use ... i really do not know why you are getting a 1mm offset if your fence is bottomed out... always set your bevel first then bottom out your plate height. i hope this helps.
