My dad was a carpenter and used to whistle while he worked. He was once accused by a homeowner of being drunk because he was "just too happy."
I love how he explains everything he is doing so I have a better understanding of whats going on
His voice has a great tone
😅😂😭🤣
😂😂😂
I was going to say the same thing. A step-by-step narration of not only the HOW but also of the WHY you do each step and a discussion of potential problems you might run into and their SOLUTIONS would be a better format for this or, quite frankly, ANY instructional video. A video that is only a recording of "someone" doing "something" is just a "diary" or a record of an "occurance."
@@Sartre_Existentialist people get mad at narrators too
Here's a mess and time saving tip. Depot sells a small paint mixer that goes on a drill. It's called the HDX Helix 1 gal. Mixer. I use that to mix my mud quickly and evenly. It fits in the bottom of the pan perfectly also. I rarely get clumps. If I see a clump, I'll hit the mixer real quick and it draws in and gets mixed quickly.
I like a person who whistles while he works. It shows he's confident in his job skills.
Snow White would agree 😀
@@droolbunnyxo9565 LOL !! Very good !!!!
This video is a perfect example of what’s your channel it’s all about and the reason of your subscribers! Please keep it up!
thank you
Hell yeah, would love a couple more window videos actually. My house is older than this with vinyl siding and I'm not finding very good info on how to best seal around the new window box. Your video helped a lot.
Coming from one handyman to the other. I enjoy your channel.
Thank you.
Seeing flashing created and installed should out rate The Masters. Amazing stuff.
How dee doo looking good there, get'R done ! ✔️
A man that whistle when he works, loves his work
I design and sell custom doors and windows for a living and I was chomping at the bit watching this! I kept wanting to ask questions but I held back and I watched it till the end. I couldn't figure out why they were putting in a smaller window, then I was wondering why a new construction window. Anyway when it was said and done it was good to see someone that knows to use the rubber membrane the correct way and flash it. I always tell people to start at the bottom like shingles on a roof and keep directing water away from the window. I love new construction windows with the nailing flange. Very easy to install and square. I am also a fan of JELD-WEN! if you can get the window out I always recommend new construction over replacement. You can inspect the framing and insulate more if needed. I like the drywall surround now and then just for something different. Good job!
I audibly groaned when that ice guard hit the siding. You sure got lucky there.
He did too lol... never worked with it.. looks sticky a phuck
We need more handy men like you
I wish you focused, explained and filmed on more of the flashing and seal tape film install. Seems like you just fast forwarded all of that and it's the important parts to prevent leaks
I was going to say the same.... where the heck did he put that flashing thing he bended?
Well I giess I will gi ask a Home Depot associate. 🙁
i like the fast forward it really explains how it's being done - quick and easy
And we did a "pretty good job" watching you do all the work🤣
Safety glasses are cool.
Nice metal break!
Finally a video of a window instal where there not just slapping in a new window. My replacements require firing out so this was nice to see. However pretty sure it's not code to put a vinyl window over a range. The metal flashing you made set you apart from the hacks. However we never got to see you install them!
I'm totally stealing your whiteboard in the workshop idea! Genius!
Thank you for all the incredible information. Beyond helpful.
Did you tilt the bottom 2x4 so if water gets there it will go towards outside?
Any recommendation on stretch flashing tape? For the sill on remodel exterior wall with new construction windows
Is there a way we could see the sped up footage in real time in a B reel video or even better a synopsis of what you're saying during the sped up parts?
Man i love the way you made that capping owsamm.....
Great job and the Whistling cracked me up 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it
Steve lav. The CZcams plumber has a bender made of 2 pieces of angle iron with a bolt in each end to tighten. It's an ingenious aluminum break.
She's a leaker mama !
It makes a lot of sense to apply mud before tape, but I mostly only ever see tape then mud. Is that a preference type of thing or is this only because of the different type of mud your using? Love your videos by the way! Inspiring
I was just looking yesterday to see if you ha a window video now you do great work🤟🏾💪🏾
One can rent a break machine for aluminum wrapping for not much money. It is not difficult as in fact way easier as it bends/cuts easily. The pricing people charge and they do not use quality caulking and/or slap it on there where water can get in. Another reason to do it yourself.
Nice job guy 😃👍
Use a laminate roller on your metal breaking technique won't scuff it up , screw a lip on your straight edge on both ends so it will always be flush with front of work bench when you line it up before clamping too , just trying to make you more money , love your stuff !
thanks for the tip. I have one of those rollers somewhere. I will try that on the next one.
Love your vidz man! Favorite DIY/Handyman channel
Thank you for watching.
Are we all going to ignore the fact that when the flashing unrolled, it scared the shit out of him so bad, he had to edit that part of the video? 4:17
Phillip Stouder Hahahaha.
Font know if you insulated the “weight pockets” at either side of the window. 🤔
Dako is a good place for windows and blinds.
What brand of flashing is that is it Aluminum? Thanks great channel!
I wish you would talk but it excellent, perfect video.
Do you ever wet your drywall tape before putting it on the wall?
I was wondering if you carried even when your working!!! Now I know lol me too
Nice work.
What kind of nail gun is that?
Excellent work. Thanks, I'll be replacing my windows soon!
I will have another window replacement coming up soon. Same window size so it should be easier. Look for that video in a week or so. Thanks for watching.
A new upload brilliant ;)
That bush or tree needs to be trimmed back from the home.
How far back?
Curious if you could comment on holster? You're imprinting but only slightly and esp. for doing work. Seems you're carrying high, above waist. Thanks for video, great work on custom flashing.
14:26 __ Good point!
Would be funny to see a video of you skateboarding...
Home Improvement ASMR
I wish you could do that fast forward talking stuff for my wife sometimes.
Watching this instead of the network TV. Oooo weighted window

Great vid.
What kind of cordless Dewalt nailer is that?
2:42 -- Yep, should've gone with the Hitachi. ;-)
Ha Ha Ha.
The ramp up on that nailer is hilarious.
Wall must not be insulated, because you didn;t fill the cavity when it was open.?
Woah buddy! You speak so eloquently.
This was the "easy" way? I don't want to see the hard way!
😅😅
I’m always watching that those springs don’t pop me in the face
What is that tape stuff you applied before putting the window in? And does it go on all sides or just bottom?
It is an adhesive back membrane. It is sold in the window area of home depot and lowes. It is for water proofing.
12:48, not gonna lie: after you said "oh!", I was half expecting you to back up so the camera could see, and we find your finger stapled to the wall. I think I've watched too many Looney Toons. :D
For a job like this in an area where people are generally more well off than not, would you say this is around a $900 job (+ materials)?
Asking for a friend. 😉
You are changing the opening depending on the size of the window and the changes to the window itself such as frosting the glass low E and argon color the window frame skinning the the inside and trim your looking 1200 to 1500 just for that window there's alot that goes into changing the side of a window not to mention the outside nightmare to make it water tight and look good or as if that how its supposed to look
This is part of a full kitchen remodel. Its all lumped in to my fixed bid on the remodel.
very nice full send bro
With your Dewalt framing nailer. How many miss fires do you get? How heavy is it compared to air driven nailer?
I have never had a miss fire. In this video I was adjusting the depth setting.
@@TheHandyman1 I am torn between Paslode and straight up electric like yours.
Is that the new 15 guage gun? I plan to add that to the collection this week. Do you like it?
I used a framing nailer and a 18 gauge stapler.
Nice. I didn’t recognize it because mine has a black pull for the nail slide and yours is yellow. MIne is a last gen version.. Great time to be alive and handy ain’t it?!! I am all batteries all day these days. I just love having all the 20volt tools. Just got the mud mixer and the cordless table saw. keep shining homie!
O man this is from scratch. How about doing one where you leave the frame in and install one that's made to fit in the existing frame?
👏👏 Nice Job ✅ Expert 🏆 Handyman 👍🏼👍🏼
How much would you charge for this window
Was this even a replacement window? I saw the exterior nail flange jw
for the outside you put silicone or no
At the very end I used Brown silicone the color that matches the sliding it's just an extra precaution. if it's installed correctly water shouldn't get in
@@TheHandyman1 ooo I see great video and lastly you got the protecto from home depot
This is the easy way
We should have a beer together. Bob's home services llc on youtube
why you never gloves or eye protection?
Not needed and they get in the way.
How odd to reduce the size of the window? Most often people are looking for more light and a better view?
Update; ok cooker going in to space
Yes the window was reduced in size so that a countertop and cabinets could go under it.
Why did you not find a custom window? Instead of making window shorter and installing aluminum.
Did you fill the old window weight pockets in with insulation?
Old window was completely removed and framed with wood. No air pockets were left to insulate
why didnt you cap white side out?
WINDOWS are EASY on an older home (as they come out fairly easy). ON a NEWER home they use those *idiotic NAIL FLANGE style* (so it has to be CUT out) as they can slap them together like everything else today. If it is brick YOU for sure will be cutting it out and/or siding as you would destroy it trying to get it out with the nails holding it in.
all those cardboard houses in the US....
Wow that is one loose batch of hot way to lose for my taste but c'est la vie
All that tin for nothing in 6 months. Smh. Good job tho.
Nasty Coax Drops
Dude where is your eye protection?
Where is your eye protection??? That’s the real question
I just saw you remove a lead window with no mask and no 6 mil plastic I hope it wasn’t a lead window
Mustard makes it all better.
I do love your videos BUT DUDE. Way too many ads.
It's how I make money. Should only be 2 to 3 ads per video. One at the beginning one in the middle and one at the end.
Its top secret czcams.com/video/QKnh2FZKGfY/video.html
how to remove character from your house 10
Asbestos! Lol
I have know idea what your doing because you havent explained anything
Metal flashing...🤔 A Hefty bag & duct tape not good enough, huh. Show-off. ~\🙄/o~~
He's not explaining . . . I need words not muting 😳😲
Speaking about things on your person, I could not help but notice what looks like the imprint of a personal defense tool on your person.
Great video to bad I don't live near by I'm ad window and door guy I have a full rig you could use to help you out on bending the metal
Why is everyone commenting saying that he explains everything so well?? When?? Im seeing a shitty angle and zero info being shared. Lol. No help whatsoever
Umm..
I’m too scared to do this myself. I’d probably have a hole in the side of my house for a week...
Dude you're printing in the video. Nice video though
Yes I am.
What evil bastard buys a smaller window???
Had to raise it up so cabinets and countertops can go under it.
Not one of your most complete or helpful videos. I still don't know how to remove existing window and install a new one. Sorry.
omg what is the point of this video. Everything I need to learn, he just skips or breezes over. But then we go step by step on things like making a flashing. Urgh
This is project for a MAN that has basic construction knowledge. Get back to the kitchen.
