“Success happens from failing hundreds of times.” Ed Sheeran. ❤
Even though his voice at 14 wasn't in tune and cracking due to going through puberty, you can still hear a germ of talent in his singing.
His voice had nice tonal qualities even back then.
More than a germ....you can already feel the emotion in the parts that weren't falsetto, which was really the only part he was struggling with. His standard register was a bit airy and thin, but where most wannabe singers fail (I'm one) is with lacking the ability to have intrigue in their voice. You could already hear he was going to possess that, and that's arguably the most important attribute to ever being a distinguished vocalist.
He can also hear a spark of what his song writing would become.
Though he is such a superstar, he still so down to earth and continues to encourage others to succeed.
I LOVE that he just let us listen to that!
Failure is an amazing teacher - thank you, Ed!!
Actually what he did at 14 was quite impressive.
Seriously, this is something kids need to hear - you don't have to be born with something to get good at it. Life is a journey and along the way you can get good at things you weren't before. As the years go by, you can also forget things you used to be good at, but that's a different story 😄
As a singer myself, it took me 20 years of practice and persistence to get my voice to the ability it is today.
You don't make millions tho
@@JohnStockton7459 if you dont have anything nice to say then say nothing...
And to some ppl will take the entire life. Cause some just cant sing.. singing is not only the pitch. Is timing, emotion, dynamic, performance, technique. Some people just cant.
I love this message and I love that a person with this level of fame is talking about it. Thank you!!!
“You learn nothing from success” that’s such an amazing quote!
This is so inspirational! Thank you Ed, I really needed this!

Imagine that couple now telling people "yeah Ed Sheeran played for 2 hours on our wedding night" 😃
...and we only gave him 200 quid!
“You learn nothing from success, you learn everything from the failures.”
“There is nothing in success, success happens from failing hundreds of times.”
Wow! That shows an incredible resilience and determination of a true growth mindset. So good.
The last point he made about not having a plan B is a profound point. Success almost always requires commitment. And commitment is likely to be rewarded with success. Have faith and follow your heart/dream.
"You learn nothing from success. You learn everything from the failures." - What a great quote. So true for anything creative! (Hopefully not for doctors and stuff ;-) )
It is actually true for doctors too. I made mistakes during training. I was also supervised and they were caught before anything happened to the patient. Surgeons and doctors are trained, not born.
Such a quotable quote. Thanks Ed
His voice was changing too...let's give him that! Xoxo
this is actually one of the best songs of him I've ever heard
love love love this. Going to show it to my son.
Sometimes Howard can be rude, but it is nice to hear him being nice on this clip. He's great.
Great message for sure!
I think it's wonderful! All about learning....... Ed certainly did
Sharing, is caring indeed! Sound counsel!
Ed inspires me and i hope to someday open for him
I love the honesty
I LOVE ED!!❤🎉
LOVE that he says failure is key and don’t have a plan B!!
I love this! What a sagacious lesson for the aspiring singer/songwriter out there! He played something similar on The Graham Norton Show.🖤
What a sound lad 💚👌
such an inspiration!
OMG this is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing ❤
I love Ed Sheeran.
😂😂 o God. It's cute that he can laugh at it. I love how down to earth he is!!
Legend
Good message ❤
That song was actually beautiful.
Lol
Wooooow thanks for this😢
❤️Ed Sheeran❤️
Gold 🙏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! Now that’s what I do. Thank you 🙏
I respect him. We need more famous people to have this attitude.
He still has a nice voice :)) lovely
Much ❤ respect
Thank you!
Love the way they ended on all that 😁👍
Best song writer since Freddie Mercury❤️
Fning living legend 🙌
He still had â sweet voice
So true!
I made poster at his Brisbane show to play this. This is a great song.
It would be interesting to hear him sing it with the voice he has now
At 14 his voice was still changing, so it may not even needed any training, just a bit of time.
maybe, but we can't ignore how much the guitar skills improved as well. that only could come from training
@@teresasarmanho no we can't
@@teresasarmanho I love ed but the guitar in this is not at all far from what he does these days. In fact his touch in that clip is actually pretty good!
Yes and you can tell he had the musical sensibility
Just as it was with Johnny Depp, all this recent publicity Ed Sheeran is getting might be a boost for his career.
from that to having one of the highest grossing tours of all time. god damn…
It's the same with great sports people. When they start out they are pretty crap too. But you love the thing that much you persist. It's really about persistence. Just keep going because you just love doing it.
❤️❤️
And…success is a large bell shaped curve. It’s unlikely that anyone will reach the stardom and financial success that Ed has earned. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t make a moderate income and call that success.
Боже,как мило😊люблю этого парня.
Is there anywhere where you can watch entire episodes of this show, outside the US?
A vpn might help.
You still need to have good ear for music to be able to hear your imperfections and improve. Some people don't hear how they actually sound
I can't believe Howard didn't seize this opportunity to him him with 'Silver Nickels and Golden Dimes'.
Jesus, I completely forgot about that gem. 🤣
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ive been failing at singing for the last 4 years, lets hope i make my own A Team soon! lol
Love you Ed
What set people apart - how to deal with failure. It is not the success but how you met resistance and failure
the first vocals I recorded I accidentally made it the same melody as "dont worry be happy"
👏❤️✊💪
Fuckin' GREAT 🌋
1:45
Is howard there in person?
This reminds me when Eric the actor would sing lmao
Actually, it wasn't lack of a good voice or experience, he was 14 which is when most boys voices are crackly and are changing and they haven't figured out what level they are at yet, so saying, he learned how to sing isn't actually correct in that he was going thru puberty. He had to get out of it and four years later obviously when he was 18 his voice had settled into what it is now.
I know most people will focus on the lessons from failure and how he used it, but excuse me: didn't he just say that there was a couple of newly weds that had an Ed Sheeran private concert for two hours and paid 200 UK pounds? :)
Don't give up.
Sinéad O'Connor said she would take to Grafton st. to earn money if need be.
1:46 Learning from failing
‘I just thought you could sing’ 😂 no he sang a lot and practiced
Most serious case of being ginger, it’s kinda 500% harder to get successful, Ed’s is just gingers greatest singer (since Geri Halliwell of course)
There was talent there. He definitely had an ear. You can’t teach a tone deaf person to really sing.
It's ridiculous. When you learn to play the guitar the first three chords everyone learns are A, E and D. There are so many songs that use those chords in the same sequence the whole song. For example, La Bamba and Twist and Shout, both have the same chord progression, and sound similar.
I think they played the wrong song, shit was 🔥🔥🔥
Only having plan A: That’s what Travis Barker said! 😃👍🔥

Imaging booking Ed for your wedding for £200 😮
V captain sensible ? 😊🎉😂😂😂😂😂
Sadly, it's clear that he was a lot better than I am now.
!
So I am 54 now...by 59???
Everytime i see howard stern i think of south park ripping on him
It's not improvement, it's puberty lol
A good example of why you should not take advice from successful people or lottery winners 😂
Sheeran could easily be ex prime minister Boris Johnson's son.
H heming way ear nest ...
He clearly was good before, but just puberty vocal flips
14!?…. It’s called puberty. 😁 great talent, great advice.
Rent was 200 pounds tho ?!😲🙃
you learn nothing froom success... we learn everything from failing
Does this kid know how to use a comb?
My plan B is alcoholism
