The method which has been trough several paradigm shifts over last couple centuries and is pretty much guaranteed to have paradigm shifts in the future as well. Which has lead big parts of the scientific community into this post modern constructivism where they question if reality even really exists, whether it's not a human construct instead of a constant for everyone as classic positivism claims. It's where many progressive values come from. It's a pretty reasonable continuation of not having a solid ground to have general reality stand on.
"Reality" isn't as straightforward as you make it seem. You have to realize we are raised within a certain paradigm and worldview, a way of interpreting data, and it is very difficult to one realize there are other paradigms which exist and that they are also reasonable. It's messy, we're all inside some deep belief system and if you don't believe you are, it just means you're very deep, beyond realizing deep cause it shaped your worldview that much. Paradigms and science philosophy does not exist in a vaccuum, it is loaded with subjective interpretation and values. Data needs to be interpreted.

I’ve had the misfortune to be seated at a table next to the one Jones was seated at in a restaurant here in Austin a number of years ago. He was dining with one other person and the restaurant was a quiet one. He talked inappropriately loudly for close to an hour, not letting his dining companion get a word in the entire time. This was back before he was nationally known; he was just the host of a cable-access show at the time. The thing that stood out to me was the way he blinked - it wasn’t just that he blinked way too often, far more than a normal person would, but that he blinked by squeezing his eyes shut. It was like he was tightly squeezing his eyes shut every five seconds. For the entire hour. He looked (and sounded) very mentally ill. I don’t know if he was or not, but he certainly acted in a manner consistent with someone who has some sort of mental illness.

Sandy Hook happened on the day my mom graduated from nursing school. We came home to the awful news. She wanted to celebrate, but it felt inappropriate, so we didn't. I filmed and took so many pictures of that day. I've barely looked at any of it because the shooting hangs over all of it. That license has absolutely changed her life, such as helping her get out of an emotionally abusive relationship (she told me that something nobody can take away from you is knowledge. When she saw the writing was on the wall, even after a year's breakup in which she/we moved out and then they got back together again, she decided to start focusing on getting her license), and in turn has allowed her to help us "kids" when we've lost jobs, like I did earlier this year when nearly everyone at the company I worked for was laid off after December.
That license means a lot to us and it just sucks we can never think on that day without the shooting also being a part of it. Denying that it ever happened ticks me off because it's like saying my family avoided celebrating over nothing. I know, that's very miniscule compared to what these families have gone through, and yes, first and foremost I'm absolutely thrilled that they fought back against Jones' gross ass lies and have been winning. I hope they drain him of everything and everyone stops associating with him, but there's always going to be some idiot who supports him. Well, that's just more money in the pockets of the victims, so keep it coming! But since we couldn't celebrate for my mom (and rescheduling doesn't change the fact, that would just highlight it more), I'll take watching Jones go broke instead.
