- Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione heads to Oklahoma City to celebrate Record Store Day and craft beer with indie-rock legends The Flaming Lips. In addition to tasting a couple extra-special collaboration brews, Sam and lead singer Wayne Coyne discuss their own offbeat collaboration called Dragons & Yum Yums-a tropical pale ale packed with dragonfruit, yumberry, passionfruit, and black carrot juice. With the ingredients of the beer as his muse, Coyne wrote lyrics for a special release called "The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon," pressed into super-limited vinyl records injected with the beer itself. There's music in the beer, and beer in the music...literally.

What is your favorite collaboration beer right now?
If you reply, then i will eat a Carolina Reaper to celebrate! Have mercy, or maybe no?
Leffe 9° (blue) best beer from belgium ;) je bent welkom ;P
There's a couple that are really good:
Ommegang Brewery in NY made a collaboration Game of Thrones limited edition brew that was really good (and strong, over 9%abv)
Brujo Brewery In CA is making some excellent small batch collaboration beers with various Metal bands, check them out
Lervig Brewery in Norway made a collaboration beer with the band 1349 (amazing Black Metal) that is rather tasty and can be found in the US
Mint ,cinemon ,and orange please !!😄😄
I don't drink beer but Jack's Brewery in Fremont, California has a seasonal beer that I really like. It's a pumpkin flavor.
Flaming lips.......shouldn't have they been on hot ones...?
hopefully they make that connection and make it happen!
This is an underrated series. Between Hot Ones and That’s Odd Lets Drink It, First we Feast is really killin’ it.
As long as they drop that shit ass burger show.
2 very best shows going...
@@higgy82 lol George motz is carrying that series
First We Yeast
Well technically you add yeast last. But i like it anyways.
Hop Ones
i love this series, first we feast has one hell of a roster
I love Wayne Coyne!! Thank you!
bro, do you even realize?
You have the most beautiful face
Shut up bro. I hope everyone you know, one day, will day
@@TheRagballer Failure.
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is one of my all-time favorite albums!
Except they pronounce it Yoshime which ruins it
Hell yeah, dude! Have you heard Soft Bulletin? Also a fantastic album!
cinnamonseahorse yes sir!
@@joshuamarsella woo!
Same bro, that album chnaged me. A close second would be The Terror.
Good job First We Feast. Hot One's is already an internet darling and now I feel like you hit another homer with this series.
This guy from DogFishHead just sounds perpetually high, though.
At a whopping 10 thousand views!
I don't know about homerun. More like "hit by pitch".
Sam should go on Hot One's and bring beer with him for Sean to taste. They could do like a spicy beer pairing with the spicy ass wings. Can someone say Crossover episode? You're welcome for the idea First We Feast/Complex.
@@mitchm2126 "Do It!!!!! *Shia Lebouf voice
They did a episode on that already
@@bingevintage8124 That was a 3 year old comment. Lol
@@liqquasippa28 and this is a 3 year old episode
I wish the interviews had more content from the subject. The topics are all cool but I'm mostly hearing MrDogfish and I want more MrLipsonFire
OKC represents in First we Feast!
So cool that you guys visited The Jones Assembly!
Collaboration vs. Competition! Very Beautiful!
We *_need_* him on Hot Ones
Then his lips would definitely be flaming
beer and music best combination
You think? I find beer to be one of the worst combos with music when compared to other drugs.
Sam Calagione and Brad Leone from Bon Appetit might be the two most charismatic people on youtube right now. Love it.
Wayne looks like the Toecutter from Mad Max and it's awesome!!!!
By the way, this beer is a super delicious blend of genius & flavor. Odds ...its a joy!!
I love the flaming lips sm. Been listening to them almost my entire life. And I'm only 18. OH YOSHIMI ♥
@@decay2113 That's cool!!
Yes!!! ❤️💋
The Flaming Lips were playing at an all ages venue... I was gifted tickets to see them.... so.. I took my (then 5 y/o) daughter to her first concert... It was The Terror album tour... (Tame Impala opened 😉👍🏻)...
She’s now 9 & I must say she’s always had an open mind for music ....
At the age of 3.5, the first cd she ever picked out was
The Monkees Greatest Hits (& they would actually be her 2nd concert...
😉👍🏻💖)
My point being is that, I look forward to seeing how these beautiful, imaginative artists will continue to influence her &.... our future
~ Hey kids Rock & Roll... Rock On...
Sam is giving Sean a run for his money as an interviewer. Excellent video
lol not even close
no u
@Whytedemon not even close is right, Sam is far better.
@@landogarner2007 you're delusional. He makes shitty beer and even shittier interviews.
You're the only one that sounds delusional here. It sounds like you have some personal vendetta against him. Show me where the bad man touched you.
Wayne was on of my first crushes. Love him.
I really missed this show after the first season so im hapy its back.
Can't believe I missed the first season of this series. So happy I've gound it now!
This episode is life! Creativiley Working side by side, togetherness, and co existence is key!
This is my new favourite show! Sick host n content, about to binge the 1st season can't wait for ep 3
This dude gives great interviews!
He really makes you think, and holds deep conversations. 👌 really enjoyed this interview, and really enjoyed the beer aspect as I love craft beers. Specially local (rva) brewers.
saw these guys on saturday night at riverfest. what a show!
ah, man, i love musicians and their view of the world... great guest!
So awesome. I couldn’t wait to get this beer. It is really good. Saved a couple of bottles as keepsakes. Living in the DMV, Dogfish is a brand of choice, and they never disappoint. Thank you for this collaboration.
Saw flaming lips in 94 at Lollapalooza in st Paul. Great show on the second stage
Is the interviewer a surfer bro stoner because he sounds like one heh
That's the owner of Dogfish Head, he's a legend!
He's identical to my uncle.
Beethoven lookin' mafk
Hahaha I was thinking the same thing!
Jroc is that you
I totally thought the same...
fancy seeing you here
Just discovered this series. Great stuff! Keep it up!
I’m screaming because I go to that record store and I’ve sat on that couch.
Well that was surprisignly heartwarming and positive for my first episode.
yeah collaboration is one of my favorite things too :D what a human
love first we feast and the flaming lips, let's get it
Yay! Sam's got a show again!
i saw TFL at Bellwether 2 weeks ago, really magical shows they put on
Barrier Breweing Co. "Hop Damn" IPA collaboration with Every Time I Die - easily my favorite collab/beer.
You guys need to have Sam do more interviews. Killer job.
Tame Impala/Kevin Parker next!!!
I'm in love with this series, where did you find this guy??? He's amazing, he makes beer so damn interesting. This episode and the Bert episode are on another level. You've made beer so personal yet open for all. It's beautiful
This is an amazing series don't cancel it like all the others hahaha PLEASE
Oh nice, wild to see my local record store on a channel as big as this.
I'm going to take up listening to the flaming lips now. Favorite album anyone?
I saw flaming lips at USC - they were after Mac Demarco. Literally have never heard of them but they put on an amazing show.
I love dog fish head! So cool to see the founder is super passionate
Really love this show!
Love the Beers... I also love you filming in the Suite of the 21c Hotel overlooking OKC. This was the old Ford Assembly Plant for about 100 years.
I've been a Flaming Lips fan since the 80s.
I did not realize freaking Wayne Coyne made it into this lol
I love this show, came out of nowhere and it’s perfect. Plus the host always seems high lol
Russian River Brewery in Southern California is amazing!
If you ever have the chance to visit I seriously recommend it.
They have a brew called "Supplication", and it has made a bit of a following around here. It's a sour with a nut / fruit flavor, but doesn't over do the sweet like some ciders / fruit beers have the tendency to.
They also brew a beer called "Pliny the Younger", that one is also freakin fantastic!
If you are ever in the Santa Rosa area here in California, I highly suggested stopping by and grabbing yourself a pint!
Don't work at Russian River, just really like their brews.
Love this shows intro
Dogfish 120min the god of craft, please do a episode on the making of this beer PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!
I seen the flaming lips at okeechobee this year, and my friends sister was talking to the drummer for a while. I got to talk to Miley cyrus once in video chat while she was talking to him. That was pretty cool.
Great video! Wayne and Sam make quite the duo. Would love to have been a fly on the wall (with beer) in the room.
Another episode of Cold Ones. Sweet
That fist beer they drink is excellent.
Shawn: we’ll break down interview barriers with a Bit of spice.
Sam: GET EM DRUNK YO
I love your seaquench sour ale
This is the most Californian California sounding guy that's every Californiaed!
This beer sounds great! 🍺
This is a great show!
*In an hour I'll be ready for a few cold ones and some food myself.Flame On!!!*
Thunder Bay's local hot sauce called Heartbeat hot sauce has a collaboration with Lake of the Woods Blueberry Ale.
Yay Oklahoma!
That Avery and Russian River collab is a HUGE deal.
With all your power
Wayne Coyne should visit Hoyne Brewery in Victoria B.C.
Sam sounds like such a bro, but he executed a great interview here.
This guy is the SNL Californians skit
boooooo for the bad photoshop thumbnail.
but i liked the video!
Do these sell in Canada?
Beer injected INTO the record? :o Badass.
Very cool 👍
Host is great, really
Wayne!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love the flaming lips and I love beer ... did you make this video for me :)
Didn't expect to see fuckin' WAYNE on this channel, what a nice surprise!
Sam this is #DoPe 🤙🏿💪🏿please keep this coming! #ColdOnes #FirstWeYeast #DogFishHead
I’m seeing The Lips tonight in Portland Maine! What a coinkidink!
Italian Mainer Luckyyyy! I've been to 3 or 4 shows and they're all amazing.
Omg yall got waaaaaayne!!!
This host from the brewery loves hearing himself talk.
Now THIS is how to make an entertaining video...
Sam's voice really reminds me of a bassier Dane Dehaan
Cool
man I thought I looked like a fuckin mess, but i feel better now
Its like listening to snake from the simpsons do an 11 minute interview.
So glad to see some coverage of this side of Oklahoma rather then crime stories cherry picked out of the countless things that Oklahomans do
Flaming Lips have been releasing albums with Warner Brothers for 25 years. Independent?
Have Sean Evans interview Sam Calagione, have Sam bring custom brews to talk about intermittently throughout the interview, and call it "Hot Ones n' Cold Ones"
I think this host may have sampled a beer or twelve before the interview.
I love people who love beer because they are so good at describing it! But unfortunately i hate the taste of beer!
Shouldve brought Steven out too! @brözd
Sam is an awesome host.
This shit is so cool
I love The Flaming Lips (=
The thumbnail he looks like Robert Downey Jr photoshopped onto Beethoven
