Cher could sing anything and make it sound like the definitive version. How she managed to deliver so much quality singing week after week on her solo series is a mystery. Lucky we have these clips as evidence of Cher’s “Camelot” year! ✨
I agree.
Everyone looks like they're having fun here, but the real surprise is Freddie Prinze, who's singing and dancing is good, and he looks adorable doing it!
He sang for the first time on TV on Tony Orlando and Dawn a few months before this. So after that, producers knew he could carry a tune.
Freddie Prinze was a powerhouse of a talent. It's a shame he took his own life so young. He had so much potential.
Didn't know FP sang!🤔 And he did it very awesomely well. Sorry he fucked up his life so soon. Only God knows why he did.👌👏👏😰
Freddy went to the LaGuardia School of Performing Arts, dropping out before his senior year to pursue standup comedy. He studied ballet and dance there, as well as acting and singing. Obviously, it really stuck!
@@22saiaop Hey, that's right! The character Ralph Garcy in the movie Fame was obsessed that he go to the same school as his hero, Frieddie Prinz. But I had no idea he studied ballet, dance, and singing there! I thought his major would have been acting. I had no idea Teri Garr could sing or play the bongos.
Freddie Prince got moves!
They were all marvels of their day….these shows are legendary. It’s like a different world. I loved watching these variety shows as a kid. The talent is irreplaceable. The costumes, the production, the technology. 20th century!
Dressing Freddie Prinze in a Zoot suit was the BEST! It was a style developed and popularized by the Latino community originally, so it's got a lot of resonance.
Incorrect. The Zoot suit first appeared in the 1930's popularized in the Black entertainment industry. It became popular in the general public in the 1940's. The Latino community picked it up followed by the Italians and other ethnic populations in the US and around the world.
Teri Garr started as a dancer on Shindig! I had a crush on her. And Cher. And the Pointer Sisters. And props to Freddie Prinze for keeping up with them.
Love your Sanford & Son profile pic! 😅😊
@@shazzorama Thank you!!!
I never get tired of watching Cher
Teri Garr, The Pointer Sisters, Freddie Prinze 1975. Cher always has something for everyone. Teri Garr, stunning.
Used to see Teri Garr around the city, and used to just gawk at her - so talented and smart!
Who could not jus LOVE the Pointer Sisters! They make it looks effortless and they KILL it
Always did.
Got to see them TWICE! What a show🌟🌟🌟😳❤️
U know it❤❤❤❤❤💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
I have this on video and much more stuff. I'm only 49 and I'm a huge Pointer Sisters fan and Cher fan(early Cher). I have been collecting for many years. Love it!
I loved the Pointer sisters since I was a child in the 70’s Beautiful! Talented! And I always admired their fashion!!
Three greats here who have passed on. Bonnie,June Pointer and Freddie Prince. RIP.
Freddie was so good, rip
Notice that Freddie sustains his last note "hooooooome," while magically mouthing "choo choo?" Networks should revive this programming. There are so many performers who would love to do live singing and dancing.
Ah! Ah! Really live singing...It is oubvious that all episodes of these shows are pre-recorded and perfomer are lip-sync. Freddie looks exhausted after this great petrfomance and not from singing. Still extraordinary work done there.
Cher- I wish that I could have come to see a live taping of your show! I used to see Carol Burnett at Television City all the time, but I didn’t start doing that until 1976 and by then your show was over (and I doubt that I could have gotten into your show’s audience- I would have been 10 years old! Shoot, I was eleven when I went to see Carol and I was supposed to be 14! She asked me how old I was during the taping, and I could not lie to her!!!! The guest was Roddy McDowall on that one). Anyway, I love your signing and flawless dancing. Anybody who can get up there and dance with Michael Jackson or Tina Turner and not miss a step or a beat is pretty awesome, let alone give a 5-plus star signing performance. I have always loved the Pointer Sisters, Teri Garr is one of my favorite comedic actresses, and seeing Freddie Prinze here was a shock for me- he was so good here! Thank you, Cher!
Anita, Ruth and Bonnie did what needed to be done!!!! I love the Pointer sisters...legends!!!
Me too. I love collecting and it's my passion. I love the Pointer Sisters (especially with Bonnie), Cher, Diana Ross, and Donna Summer. There are a few more but those are my top favorites.
Miss Terri Garr. Love Pointer SIsters....The legendary Cher and Freddie Prinze. Does this get better?
The Pointer Sisters were doing a 40s revival act in the 70s, which is why Cher probably had them on her show. The real surprise is Freddie Prize, who was known as a comedian, not a song & dance man.
It's totally new for many of us.
He was multi talented...studied dance and sang in musicals in NYC school of performing arts. Could do doubles and triples, which allowed him to excel in Martial arts. He had planned on expanding as an all around entertainer, not just comedy. Sad it didn't continue.
Freddie Prinze was such a talented comedian. He was gorgeous.. and he could sing? I'm swooning 🥰
Cher please get the pointer sisters into the rock and roll hall of a fame. ❤️
Love this … hope Freddie Prinze Jr gets to see this .. his father was really good in this .. never knew he could sing so good … but of course he’s singing with Cher .. she brings out the best in everyone !!
He sing well enough to pass by in a skit like this. That’s all.
Glad you wrote this, as I was just thinking "isn't that other guy called Freddie Prince", I hadn't realised that the elder had a son before he passed.
I just saw a video on Tubi about Freddie Prinze. The manager of the apartment building in which he lived from childhood until leaving for California said that Prinze was giving special gifts to his closest friends. The man has a clarinet that Freddie played. He expressed interest in the manager's saxophone, so the man taught him the basics and Prinze picked it up right away. So much talent! Perhaps is was too much, too soon combined with depression, cocaine, quaaludes and alcohol. I have learned that psychiatrists regularly prescribed 'ludes' as legitimate treatment for depression. Since the drug was intended to help people sleep or as an anxiety reducer, it did not work in treating depression. I was in the fifth grade when Freddie shot himself. I will never forget hearing the news of his death.
@@fairyqueen56uh...no...he was excellent in Tony Orlando and Dawn and even sung on his album. Pretty good sounding to me!
We didn't know how good we had it.
Freddie Prinze is good - - well everyone is good and can't say enough about them all!
I love the diversity so ahead of her time. Love you Cher
I can watch this over and over!
Just when you think you have seen enough she’s covered everything . Surprise! She goes and kicks it out again.
(#46) These were some iconic people in the day!!!
Oh , the good ole days, when there was real talent and the variety shows. Nothing compares today!!🙄🙄
She's timeless...We love you Cher...always have always will...
Music videos today are all demon directed, not the good ol’ entertainment we were raised on.
What a great performance! 🙌🏼❤️
It’s so sad that his life was cut so short.😢
One of the best performances from the show I've seen. Teri Garr is so funny and talented, never knew she could dance too!
She trained to be a ballerina and danced in Elvis movies, the TAMI Show, and Shindig. A great talent
Cher is one of my favourite singer / actress that's why she a legend
RIP Anita , and Bonnie Pointer. They are Legends ❤🎉🎉🎉
The Pointer Sisters carried this performance, Saturday mention to Cher for sticking those dance moves
Teri Garr looks gorgeous. I vaguely remember watching this as a kid. Years later I have a much better appreciation for the talent and hard work of everyone on that stage.
A beautiful tribute to African American song and dance. ️❤️ ❤️
Wow I just watched The Pointer Sisters on The Carol Burnett Show! They should have had their own variety show! Easily! ❤️
💯❤️
Love everyone here. Cher is always amazing(check her sketches with Carol Burnett). I will forever have a place in my heart for Teri Garr
Absolutely wonderful Cher is so funny and her voice is unique ❤ I love the Pointer Sister's their amazing ❤❤❤ and Freddie 💙💙💙
Talent that's all
How delightful! I miss shows like this showcasing people's talents! I wish I had known Freddie Prinze could sing and dance.
I had no idea Freddie Prinze was that talented singing and dancing
Aww I wonder if Jr has seen this. His old man could carry a tune 😊
Classic , Is There no performance Cher can do, you don't see Fantastic performances like this anymore, so detailed and down home , Cher is one of a kind ❤️ I'm glad you still have these Incredible Gifts to share with us , I do not take it for granted, Cher keep them Coming 👋👋👋👋😄🏆👑💖💖💖💖💃💃💃💃💃🕺
I completely agree. Darling Cher never disappoints.
she's versatile as a singer and actor, yet has her own unique thing as well
i'm down with that
Sadly only 1 Pointer Sister is still alive, RIP Anita Pointer..
Wowza!!!! Freddie?!?
Oh my goodness! What a production!! They gave it their all!!! BRAVO!!!!
Very nice!! Blast from the 70's past! All were really good. RIP June Pointer, Freddie Prinze . . 🌹🌺
What's odd is that June is missing from this appearance, why I don't know.
Bonnie Pointer has also passed away already
@@brockreynolds870 yes June out sometimes during 1974 and 1975. I have this and some more performances without June. Live in Zaire Africa 1974 and the Mike Douglas Show 1974 is without June. I love seeing all 4 but Bonnie and Ruth are my favorites. I don't feel June stood out much in the 70s. After Bonnie left, she was the bubbly one though.
@@brockreynolds870 June had a lot of problems. I heard she has had nervous breakdowns and did a lot of drugs.
Get Ruth's book. It explains why June was out during that time.
She sings these songs awesomely and looks absolutely gorgeous in those dresses
Divine Miss M fan from the start. Then a Memorable NYE performance at Dorthy Chandler in 80s...Drove for a small limo company for a year. POINTER SISTERS were our clients. They were terrific to spend time with. Of course loved their music...What an era.

Awesome video of the greatest legends of the music the pointer sisters and the icon cher / actress they are amazing singers
Happy weekend sweethearts, never give up loving music & paaaarty fans
I loved Freddie so much! Chico and the Man forever! These clips are so wonderful and clear. I never saw them this clear. People who weren't there don't realize how poor tv reception could be back then. I was a kid and the little TV in my room was black and white. Didn't even get a color tv until I begged my mother crazy and she bought me a used 12 or 13 inch Zenith from a hotel sell in '82-- where they were upgrading to big 19 inch color tvs. It still cost a small fortune. I wasn't spoiled....lol...most parents back then wanted their kids in their own rooms or outside. or that's how it was with my family...not allowed in the family room at night and didn't want to be since all they watched was news and mystery shows...lol
Teri was a dancer in an Elvis movie many years earlier...
I've still got a crush on Teri Garr!
This is exceptional and im only 44 yrs old. I wish theyd bring shows like this back and y'all know wgat i miss?!! American Bandstand
Bring back variety shows! RIP June and Freddie.
Oh my goodness 😃 that Cher Show was so awesome 😍😎 to watch thanks for that only phone 💖 🎉 great to see from 1975 ma ❤️ 🤗⌚👍🙏🙈
💃 Cher , show's are wonderful 💖 I can't wait ✨😄To me Cher's premieres are like Her mystery in The music industry , Save the best part for the world ❤️ I love it !😃 People know where to find her music 🎵 She's here a Happy click of entertainment 🌹🌹
My mother was cooking in the kitchen, she was mixing something, when I came in, and told her of Freddie Prinze suicide. She never looked up or said anything but I could see the tears rolling down her cheeks.
Yup I crushed on Freddie...watched Chico and man...when reporter came on saying that Freddie died..he paused with each word...sssoooo sad....my mom in living room with a guest and I flung my bedroom door open...Freddie's dead I cried!! I'm so proud and happy at Freddie jr. success!! Freddie sr. would be so proud...😪😔😪😔
And we care about this why??
@@dannydougin3925 You are answering "we" you must have a mouse in your pocket, I only see one.
Prinze not his real name was an overnight sensation, he appeared in the Johnny Carson show, now Jimmy Fallon at 19 years old. The next morning he woke up a star. Hollywood destroyed him he shot himself at 22 years old, a real tragedy.
@@dannydougin3925 always one 🤡
Cher 👑 I Love you
I used to love the look Cher would get on her face while she was performing. You get the feeling she wasn't busy so why not give this a go! I loved her in "Tea With Mussolini" where she gets out of that Jaguar wearing that leopard jacket and causing Maggie Smith to recoil in horror. Great movie - great cast. Where is Cher these days???
i love all cher medlys ❤❤❤❤❤
The Time of Glamour .... sexy is a Diva
These videos are the best! Thank you for posting. 🥰
yes best one yet!! Cher
A great performance! 👍💃 I didn't know Teri Garr could sing and dance! She was great! Too bad she never did a Broadway musical (as far as I know) as she would have been wonderful. Loved the Pointer Sisters. Freddie Prinze was amazing and Cher knocked it out of the park.
Too bad they don't make Variety shows like this anymore 😵
Teri Garr began her acting career as a background go-go dancer in uncredited roles in youth-oriented films and TV shows choreographed by David Winters, including Pajama Party (a beach party film), the T.A.M.I. Show, Shindig!, Shivaree, Hullabaloo, Movin' with Nancy, and six Elvis Presley films.
@@andiedad right, she and Toni Basil (hey Micky) were in a lot of movies together.
@@brendamoon2660 I first took notice of her in a star trek episode about '68 when I was beginning to notice that girls were different than boys. Kinda my first crush. Sweet and funny and amazingly attractive.
Freddie Prinze Jr’s dad 😊.. I heard he died young, such a shame. Nice and good looking performer
Yeah, Freddie Prinze died at the age of 23. So tragic. I loved him in the sitcom he starred in, "Chico and the Man."
Wow... I love it!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Everyone was fabulous, especially my Queen Cher! 👑🤍✨ 🤟🏻
This is one example of why there needs tu be a documentary on comedy-variety and what happened to it (Neil Patrick Harris, IMHO, almost helped revive it with "Best Time Ever").
What a cute number! And didn't realize Cher was such a great dancer- but not surprised.
Look at that line up of legends!
So fun! Thanks Cher, I miss tv shows like this!!
I've listed to your music from very young age ♥️♥️♥️♥️
This episode is a favorite, so good❤
Very nice
Loved her show!!
The variety shows were so entertaining, especially Cher’s. The Pointer Sister’s can sing nearly any style of music. I can’t help but notice that June Pointer was missing from the performance.
June took a leave of absence. She was not well during this time.
Wow, that was just amazing. I've enjoyed all of these songs a long time and it was so nice to see Cher and the other amazing artists as they sang and danced through each song--looking quite fabulous, no less, as the captured that "40's Glamour" style so well. Thanks for sharing this, it was a delightful surprise. :)
Artistazos!!!!
No way that was Freddie's voice, but he was still "Looooking Goooooooooooood"!!!
So great to see him. I really enjoyed him in TV in my youth. He was definitely special.
Yep that was his voice. He had been a student at the New York Stage Academy but had studied/performed ballet since he was 10 so had perfect dance/rhythm skills. His potential was unlimited. Heartbreaking.
Temazo ❤️
I saw Freddie Prince in person while he was doing Chico and The Man ,we had the best seats as my best dress in a wheel chair,we both noticed that some seemed odd about him that day,he would take his own life a month later .
This was a classic 🙌 Enjoyed it and still will enjoy it, what a masterpiece 😌 Seeing you share the stage with huge stars is amazing, love it 🥰 Feliz Viernes mí reina bella 👸🌹🎶☕🇺🇸💙
