Crockett and Tubbs, they started together and the finished together...As it should be. The fashion trends that show started was something else on it's own...And the music used throughout the series was awesome, Tina Turner, Glenn Frey, Phil Collins...In The Air Tonight takes me back to Miami Vice every time I hear it...God, I miss that show, I didn't want it to end!! For anyone not from this era, Miami Vice truly was an iconic television show. So much so, that a LOT of people 18+ would literally wait until they finished watching Miami Vice on Friday night before going out for a night on the town. Perhaps some of the shootout scenes are a little cheesy by today's standards, but the cinematography, story lines, acting, soundtrack, wardrobes, etc. have all stood the test of time; especially for an hourly weekly television show.

The music, fashion and style of the era is just so iconic it just wouldn't survive a remake (the movie was ok but ultimately paled in comparison). I view it that way as well, cuz to me it makes no sense for them to separate after all they’ve been thru together. Like, these two dudes need eachother and that’s clearly showcased by Prodigal Son and Too Much, Too Late. Sonny is very sad when he thinks that Rico is actually going to leave him to stay with Valerie, and a bit sad when Rico tells him that he wants to marry Valerie. If Sonny couldn’t handle seeing his partner stay with somebody else, then I have no idea where he gets the strength to completely go different ways by the end of the series

Even now when you watch it, there is just something so nostalgic about it. For us 80’s kids, it takes you right back to that time and all of the memories you had of that decade…the music, the clothes, the lingo.
When this last episode aired, it was literally the 80’s decade saying goodbye.

I always thought that this ending was bittersweet for a variety of reasons. One of them was that these two men who had grown to respect and love each other were facing the end of their partnership. The other reason was far darker. After all Crockett and Tubbs had done, sacrificed and lost there was just as much drugs and crime in Miami as there was the day they met. Nothing had changed except they found out that not only were they fighting against the criminals but their own government. More bitter than sweet.

The weird thing was......as I watched this scene for the first time back in the day I wondered what the last line would be......I had it in my mind they'd use the line "Hey Tubbs.....you ever consider a career in Southern law enforeement?" "Maybe.....maybe". When I heard them utter the line I had chills! The perfect ending!

The End of an era, this was the final Vice that originally aired back in 1989 before the show was cancelled. The unaired lost 4 episodes didn't air until the following year. Great ending with a callback to the first episode ending as Crockett and Tubbs ride off The montage that follows is very classy too. 🔥🔥🔥👍

Long before series such as The X-Files and Babylon 5 would boast of their story "arcs", Miami Vice was one of the first series to have a strong arc of character development throughout its run, particularly with regards to Crockett. Even in long-running series of the time, most characters were basically static and unchanging, but Crockett begins Miami Vice as a youthful, energetic cop, still optimistic despite having seen the dark side of his job on numerous occasions, and believing with great idealism that he can make a difference. Eventually, however, the anger and pain caused by the betrayal and/or loss of nearly everyone he cares about lead to his dark side taking him over. Finally, both he and Tubbs realize that they cannot really create change within a corrupt system and choose to free themselves from it. The only other character with an equivalent arc is Switek (although it does not really start until the final season of the show).

Actually three of the lost episodes aired during the summer of 1989 after Freefall. The fourth one was the one that aired in 1990 on the USA network. In fact, NBC aired reruns of Vice up until July 26, 1989, two months after the final episode.

My dad watched the show in the 80s as it was airing but he didn't get to finish the final season (i think he finished the burnett arc). He finally got around to watching the finale a year or two ago, and he said it was almost surreal getting to watch the finale after 30 years

I sometimes try to explain my kids why the 80's were the best time ever to grow up as a kid.......Transformers, the A team, knightrider, airwolf and then this....Miami Vice.....the 80's had this vibe, when you grew up during that time you already knew back then that this was instant nostalgic stuff, it had a soul, it had hope and even between the violent parts some moral, not the PC moral nowadays which is all about "feelings". I miss those days so bad and all I can think of is "poor youth nowadays"....growing up with mobile phones, social media.....they have no fantasy anymore and are all becoming nacisstic little brat's.

Miami Vice, Literally a series that was ahead of it's time. What an era. The nostalgia is real man. Been re-watching the entire series these past months, and what a time. Don't think any show can come close too it these days. Sad that the era, is long past. Iconic storyline, themes, instrumentals, characters and so much more. Legendary. What makes me appreciate the show even more is that they used some of Collin's music, truly iconic. What a scene, and an ending.

It has been rightly said that the strongest friendships that can exist is between men. Today, there's all this "gay" nonsense and men are afraid to be friends with other men because of it. Men need each other simply because it's natural, normal and healthy. Men communicate with each other in ways that cannot happen anywhere else. Being in the military offers men chances to connect like nowhere else and creates bonds never broken. Those who have this have a high blessing few know. When that friend disappears for whatever reason, it truly is a time of mourning. In my life, I've been fortunate to have 3 men friends that were like brothers to me. Loved them all. They're all gone now and I feel strong pain for their loss when I think of them. I also feel high gratitude that I was able to meet them in life and how our lives were enriched. I miss them SO much. Brothers don't have to be born with you, they can also be chosen. When you're chosen, you know it's real.
