I am outraged, shocked, and appalled...we Europeans love playing as eggs in video games. Castlevania would have been so much better if the character had been an egg, Simon Eggmont.

I think it all traces back to Europeans' smugness about not keeping eggs in the fridge (because they pay extra to vaccinate hens against salmonella). "Not only do we not lock up our eggs in the fridge, we even let them go on adventures!"
I think it's funny reminds me of a 2yr old running away from the family cat I DONT LIKE IT style :) I don't like Dizzy either, and I haven't since I first played one in 1989. Bad controls in a non intuitive puzzle platformer lol no thanks.
i also thought it was weird, like something was missing, i'm so used to the fun music and zany stop motion during those transitions. The video was still good though
it's because the system itself doesnt have any tunes and most games for the unit doesnt have music either, older systems like the Atari and Lynx wasnt very well known for music in games, if at all.

Perhaps the love for Dizzy is isolated to the UK. At least up here in Scandinavia we didn't care much for the British micros and their games. We had them, but Nintendo and Sega were king.
Dizzy games are basically just point and click adventure games but with platformer controls. While I personally like them, I can see why they're not to everyones taste

You weren't harsh in the first video. You were honest and, for whatever reason, really upset some evercade fan boys. They even complained about the mini skit in the evercade facebook group.
Thanks for reviewing the Evercade Lynx carts! Pro tip for playing CyberVirus: you exit the map by crossing the red border on all four sides of the map (as explained in the in-game briefing for mission #1). And I agree that Crystal Mines is excellent, but then I am biased. :)
cant say I was expecting the Lynx version of Jimmy Connor's Tennis to ever get an official re-release anytime this millennium. I am also really surprised they didnt try to get the rights to put Zaku on one of the Lynx packs, now there is a homebrew worth getting played by more people. Probably also in the minority here, but I would love a cheaper, screen-less model of the system. The appeal of the system to me is being essentially a plug-n-play console that you can keep buying new games for, I really just want to play on a TV and would very rarely go handheld.

I'm french and I never heard of Dizzy till this release on Evercade... But I must admit you are right about european plateformers... Except Rayman maybe !
Rayman never had a game that was dreadful. Rayman 2 was way better than Mario 64. Those game mechanics were so smooth. Great gameplay throughout the whole experience and it always kept changing things up til the end of the game. Rayman Origins and it's sequel were some of the best 2D platforming ever.

The crash happened, killing off consoles in the U.S. But all of us gamers went and played games on our C64s, Apple IIs and Atari computers from 1984-1987. That's why more C64s were sold here than in Europe during this time. Makes me laugh when the Brits crow on about how they were the only ones keeping the video game torch lit in the West during this period though, lol!
North American here. I picked up the Dizzy one--first time I’ve ever played those games--I thought it was decent. I got Lynx 2 (not collection 1), and it’s quite good--worth it for Chip’s Challenge, IMO.
Europe here, had an NES since almost release here, never even heard of the damn egg. I know you were jocking but im confused AF. Love your content, keep it up ^^
Yeah, Dizzy was specifically a UK thing, nobody really cared as much about those games in the rest of Europe. At least that was what I perceived at the time. They sold incredibly well in the UK, but they were also very cheap, costing like 2 to 4 pounds each.

The lynx carts looks like a mixed bag. I still want to get it because getting a real Atari Lynx is too expensive. When is the exact release date for the lynx collection in November? I keep looking on Amazon and eBay and it says not available to buy yet.
Being 41 years old and from the UK I can tell you that Dizzy was a big franchise here, but mainly within the micro computer scene. Of course some of the mainline consoles got ports of the game but unfortunately the low budget janky nature of these games didn't fit well alongside the likes of Sonic and Mario. But I guess if all you had back in 1987 was a ZX Spectrum or a C64 then Dizzy was great.
I like it. The combination of being legal and having physical cartridgey really makes it worth the experience for me. Plus they pack a lot of games I've never heard of or weren't available in the US so there's that.

Has anyone else had a problem when using the mini HDMI port? While playing with the HDMI cable plugged in, the slightest movement of the console causes it to reboot to the home screen. This only happens when using the HDMI port of course. I can't find anything on Google about anyone else reporting this issue.

Considering SNK seems to be leaning in on their backlog, don't imagine they'd be against releasing them on the Evercade.

Codemasters is a UK company, and Dizzy was a big part of their early years.
So that's why its "well known".

Firehawk and Mig-29 were awesome games. I cant see picking up this cart just to play Firehawk though.

i found out it highly depends on the cable. I use a amazon basics cable, works fine
