My dude I really like your videos! They remind me of a simpler era of CZcams where people just wanted to share cool stuff with others. It feels like this era is gone. No weird Raid Legends ads, no scripts, just a guy with a camera and a cool hobby. Always entertaining to watch. I don't know if you've already shown your collection before, but this is the first time I've seen it. Keep up the good work!

It's true, it has become everyday mainstream site, and all the rules makes ppl dont want to make vids anymore, it's almost impossible now, the best youtube days has ended 2-3 years or so ago, it begun approx 6-7 years ago, you know when something has been around for 10 years and stood the test of time, then it becomes mainstream, everybody start using it old ppl and kids, and then there must be rules, and then it just goes downwards almost every time, i wish youtube would have stayed in the middle of that graph, bu thats the same with everything in the world, from internet to food etc etc...

The particles could be natural sediment. Modern beers are filtered, removing yeast and sediment from the final product. Back in the 1970s a little bit of yeast was likely left in the beer in small amounts and after a time would leave sediment on the bottom of the can or bottle, just like wine. You should have poured out most of the contents and left behind the last, leaving the beer clearer.

I thought this until the microscope. Thise crystal shards resemble microscopic metal, and id be surprised if other ingredients would have a similar appearance. Those weren't organic shapes, and beer ingredients are mostly organic material if not all organic

In 2010 or 2011 I was on vacation with my now ex gf in SE Asia and we stayed with her parents. This one day her brother and parents went to go run their food stand and she went with them and I was gonna meet her for lunch, but I was a heavy drinker (I was a grunt in the army and just came back from my third deployment in Iraq, so yeah... Heavy drinker) and I found myself in the apartment alone.
Her dad was also a heavy drinker so I raided his stash and he had all sorts of vintage wines even going back to the 70s, and so I drank all the fresh stuff first and then found this super neat ornate Japanese kettle of sake dated 1974.
I googled whether or not it's safe to drink booze that old, kept finding mixed answers, and drank it anyway.
By that point I was pretty drunk so I couldn't tell you if it elevated me any further than all the drinks I'd already had or not, and it tasted... "Funky" lol looking back, I think I drank cooking wine (knowing what I know now) I'm pretty sure that stuff turned into rice wine vinegar over time... I didn't have any adverse reaction though haha

I'd love to see you find a can of Motts applesauce from the 90's, when it still came in metal cans. I used to eat it when I was a kid and I think it tasted better than it does now that in comes in the plastic containers. I wonder if they changed the recipe or the type of apples they use, or if there was just something about the canning process that made it taste better. It's hard to describe the difference, but I guess it was sweeter and had more of a homemade type of taste. It was more flavorful. The stuff they make now is watery and bland. I also used to like Libby's apricot nectar better when it came in the little metal cans with the foil pull tabs, too. I feel like it tasted better in those cans than it does in the modern pull tab cans in comes in now, for some reason. If you could find either of those things from the 90's, to do a video about, that would be great!

I remember watching the Cinema Snob (pretty sure it was him) drink very old beer once, & he poured it into a glass & it had teeny flecks of metal floating around in it & a metallic smell. So this is pretty much what I expected.

Very interesting experiment! I must admit I've always wanted to try some of the old beers in my Dad's collection.
Most of the particles you are seeing floating around in the beers are likely settled remnants of the original ingredients; yeast, grain, hops etc... as well as the stuff from the tops of the can that you inadvertently shook into the glasses.
The 'wine' smell would come from further fermentation of the alcohol due to unfiltered yeast, grain, hops left in the beer at the time of canning. If left long enough it would turn in to a syrupy vinegar.
From your mineral tests, I believe the amount of minerals in these beers are likely due to the water quality of the original beers being brewed. FDA has I'm sure has enforced a lot of water filtration regulations on breweries over the past 40yrs.
Again, Very fascinating test! Thank you for sharing!!
